Objective: This study aims to compare the usability of the adaptive touch design method with that of the height adjustable design method that are applied to the Korean QWERTY keyboard and Naratgul keyboard on smartphones, examine the results, and present practical implications. Background: Smartphone manufacturers have failed to satisfy every user with their uniform touch keyboard designs that do not consider the high use rates of keypad use. In reality, touch keyboard designing customized for every individual is impossible, but there need to be researches on was to improve usability by having touch areas changed automatically depending on user behaviors or having users adjust the keyboard height depending on their hand size. Method: As for the design methods, an object group was given smartphones with the adaptive touch design method and the other group those with the height adjustable design method. As they entered the same characters in the smartphones, typing error rates and text input speed were measured and the average values were compared. 35 individuals who would frequently use smartphones in daily life participated in the experiment. The group variable was the type of touch keyboards, and the test variables were typing error rates and text input speed, for which a T-test was implemented. Results: As for the QWERTY keyboard, the significant improvement effect was verified as the typing error rate of the adaptive touch design method was 4.21% but that of the height adjustable design method was 3.28% although there was no significant difference in terms of text input speed. As for the Naratgul keyboard, in contrast, the typing error rate of the adaptive touch design method was 2.5% while that of the height adjustable design method was 1.48%, which indicates a measure of improvement, but the effect was not significant. On the other hand, the text input speed per minute was improved as much as 22.2%, which is significant. Conclusion: First, the Korean touch keyboard usability of the adaptive touch design method and that of the height adjustable design method, when applied to Model A of Company L, showed significant difference from each other. Second, the height adjustable design method was applied to the QWERTY keyboard, the typing error rate was improved significantly. This indicates that as the keyboard height was raised, the number of buttons within the range of fingering decreased, decreasing the touch bias was reduced. Third, the height adjustable design method was applied to the Naratgul keyboard, the text input speed was improved. Application: When the QWERTY keyboard was applied to a smartphone as small as 5.5inch or less, it is highly probably that the height adjustable design method decreases the typing error rate. It may be considered to develop additional UX functions to make the keyboard font larger or give users the option to adjust button intervals in utilization of the SW advantages of the height adjustable design method.

Reliability is an important factor in weapons systems. Low reliability causes the weapons system to fail to function properly, which directly leads to the weakening of combat capability. This paper classifies the structure of the 5.56 mm rifle, which is currently used by the Korean army, into a total of seven assemblies and describes the eight functions necessary for the rifle to operate normally. In addition, the concept of reliability was defined as the MRBF, and the Poisson process model and TTT plot were explained as a reliability analysis theory for the repair function system. Next, the field-data obtained by defining failure as the replacement of parts other than periodic exchange of parts were refined, and the reliability was analyzed by entering the refined field operation specifications into the Minitab program. As a result, the reliability of the rifle was determined to be 251.73. The assembly parts that required improvement was identified as the barrel, lower body, and butt stock assembly, and 10 detailed parts needed to be improved. Finally, the limits of the reliability analysis using the field-data currently available for small caliber firearms were considered.

Probabilistic Risk Assessment considering statistically random variables is performed for the preliminary design of an Arch Bridge. Component reliabilities of girders have been evaluated using the response surfaces of the design variables at the selected critical sections based on the maximum shear and negative moment locations. Response Surface Method (RSM) is successfully applied for reliability analyses lot this relatively small probability of failure of the complex structure, which is hard to be calculated by Monte-Carlo Simulations or by First Order Second Moment method that can not easily calculate the derivative terms in implicit limit state functions. For the analysis of system reliability, parallel resistance system composed of girders is modeled as a parallel series connection system. The upper and lower probabilities of failure for the structural system have been evaluated and compared with the suggested prediction method for the combination of failure modes. The suggested prediction method for the combination of failure modes reveals the unexpected combinations of element failures in significantly reduced time and efforts, compared with the previous permutation method or conventional system reliability analysis method.

In this paper, the modified coefficient of the orthotropic rigidity for stiffened plates with open ribs is proposed to improve the inaccurate results of the orthotropic plate analysis. For stiffened plates with rectangular and angle ribs having various aspect ratios and boundary conditions, the aspect ratio and the rigidity ratio are selected as parameters and the parametric study on the modified coefficient is performed. Analyzed results of stiffened plates modeling with the isotropic and orthotropic plate element show that the modified coefficient can be expressed as a function of the rigidity ratio for each rib space regardless of the aspect ratio in case of the aspect ratio under 1 and can be represented as a single union function without regard to rib spaces and aspect ratios in the other case. The results also shows that the effects of the boundary condition on the modified coefficient is small and coefficient functions have different values according to rib shapes. The application to examples shows that the modified coefficient of the orthotropic rigidity improves accuracy. Therefore, the orthotropic plate analysis of stiffened plates with open ribs can easily achieve more accurate results using the coefficient function proposed in this study
Agricultural water management has gained enormous attention in the developing world to alleviate poverty, reduce hunger and conserve ecosystems in small-scale production systems of resource-poor farmers. The story of food security in the $21^{st}$ century in India is likely t o be closely linked to the story of water security. Today, the water resource is under severe threat. The past experiences in India in general and in Andhra Pradesh in particular, indicated inappropriate management of irrigation has led to severe problems like excessive water depletion, reduction in water quality, water logging, salinization, marked reduction in the annual discharge of some of the rivers, lowering of ground water tables due to pumping at unsustainable rates, intrusion of salt water in some coastal areas etc. Considering the importance of irrigation water resource efficiency, Krishna Western Delta (KWD) of Andhra Pradesh was purposively selected for this in depth study, as the farming community in this area are severely affected due to severe soil salinity and water logging problems and hence, adoption of different water saving crop production technologies deserve special mention. It is quite disappointing that, canals, tube wells and filter points and other wells could not contribute much to the irrigated area in KWD. Due to less contribution from these sources, the net area irrigated also showed declining growth at a rate of -6.15 per cent. Regarding paddy production, both SRI and semi-dry cultivation technologies involves less irrigation cost (Rs. 2475.21/ha and Rs. 3248.15/ha respectively) when compared to transplanted technology (Rs. 4321.58/ha). The share of irrigation cost in Total Operational Cost (TOC) was highest for transplanted technology of paddy (11.06%) followed by semi-dry technology (10.85%) and SRI technology (6.21%). The increased yield and declined cost of cultivation of paddy in SRI and semi-dry production technologies respectively were mainly responsible for the low cost of production of paddy in SRI (Rs. 495.22/qtl) and semi-dry (Rs. 532.81/qtl) technologies over transplanted technology (Rs. 574.93/qtl). This clearly indicates that, by less water usage, paddy returns can be boosted by adopting SRI and semi-dry production technologies. Both the system-level and field-level interventions should be addressed to solve the issues/problems of water management. The enabling environment, institutional roles and functions and management instruments are posing favourable picture for executing the water management interventions in the State of Andhra Pradesh in general and in KWD in particular. This facilitates the farming community to harvest good crop per unit of water resource used in the production programme. To achieve better results, the Farmers' Organizations, Water Users Associations, Department of Irrigation etc., will have to aim at improving productivity per unit of water drop used and this must be supported through system-wide enhancement of water delivery systems and decision support tools to assist farmers in optimizing the allocation of limited water among crops, selection of crops based on farming situations, and adoption of appropriate alternative crops in drought years.
With the rapid development of Social Network Service and with the diversification of user needs, new types of image-based SNS have emerged. Image-based SNS provides customized service to meet users' specified contents needs that have yet to be satisfied in conventional relation-based SNS like Facebook, leading the trend of service diversification. Unlike text-based SNS that has inconvenient view on a small mobile screen, image-based SNS provides the communication way focused on simple text message and image, and thus the main users of the image-based SNS are young people in their 20s who get accustomed to images, rather than text messages. Accordingly, the functions and roles of SNS UI have varied, and usability has been more important. With the users in their 20s who use image-based SNS, this study tried to look into the usability of the image-based SNS. To do that, heuristic evaluation method was applied to find UI problems. The main factors constituting usability were extracted, and user evaluation method was redesigned. Aside from the satisfaction measurement, this study conducted and analyzed a questionnaire survey with users in their 20s who used actual image-based SNS. This study analyzed usability factors that influenced of image-based SNS users. The analysis results are considered to be used as a fundamental material to improve usability in the process of developing social media service.

A hardware implementation of ultra-lightweight block cipher algorithm PRESENT that was specified as a block cipher standard for lightweight cryptography ISO/IEC 29192-2 is described in this paper. Two types of crypto-core that support master key size of 80-bit are designed, one is for encryption-only function, and the other is for encryption and decryption functions. The designed PR80 crypto-cores implement the basic cipher mode of operation ECB (electronic code book), and it can process consecutive blocks of plaintext/ciphertext without reloading master key. The PR80 crypto-cores were designed in soft IP with Verilog HDL, and they were verified using Virtex5 FPGA device. The synthesis results using $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS cell library show that the encryption-only core has 2,990 GE and the encryption/decryption core has 3,687 GE, so they are very suitable for IoT security applications requiring small gate count. The estimated maximum clock frequency is 500 MHz for the encryption-only core and 444 MHz for the encryption/decryption core.

MTO (Make to Order) is a manufacturing process in which manufacturing starts only after a customer's order is received. Manufacturing after receiving customer's orders means to start a pull-type supply chain operation because manufacturing is performed when demand is confirmed, i.e. being pulled by demand (The opposite business model is to manufacture products for stock MTS (Make to Stock), which is push-type production). There are also BTO (Build to Order) and ATO (Assemble To Order) in which assembly starts according to demand. Lean manufacturing by MTO is very efficient system. Nevertheless, the process industry, generally, which has a high fixed cost burden due to large-scale investment is suitable for mass production of small pieces or 'mass customization' defined recently. The process industry produces large quantities at one time because of the lack of manufacturing flexibility due to long time for model change or job change, and high loss during line-down (shutdown). As a result, it has a lot of inventory and costs are increased. In order to reduce the cost due to the characteristics of the process industry, which has a high fixed cost per hour, it operates a stock production system in which it is made and sold regardless of the order of the customer. Therefore, in a business environment where the external environment changes greatly, the inventory is not sold and it becomes obsolete. As a result, the company's costs increase, profits fall, and it make more difficult to survive in the competition. Based on the customer's order, we have built a new method for order system to meet the characteristics of the process industry by producing it as a high-profitable model. The design elements are designed by deriving the functions to satisfy the Y by collecting the internal and external VOC (voice of customer), and the design elements are verified through the conversion function. And the Y is satisfied through the pilot test verified and supplemented. By operating this make to order system, we have reduced bad inventories, lowered costs, and improved lead time in terms of delivery competitiveness. Make to order system in the process industry is effective for the display glass industry, for example, B and C groups which are non-flagship models, have confirmed that the line is down when there is no order, and A group which is flagship model, have confirmed stock production when there is no order.

A BIM, which is being applied actively to the construction and civil construction industries, is a technology that can maximize efficiency of various sectors from initial planning and design, construction, and maintenance, to demolition; however, it is in the introductory phase in the field of domestic landscaping. In order to introduce and promote BIM in the field of landscape design, this study developed a prototype of a library and template and analyzed the performance of trial application. For the development of a prototype, annotations and types were analyzed from floor plans of existing small parks, and components of landscape template were deduced. Based on this, play facilities, pergola, and benches were madeintofamily and templates, making automatic design possible. In addition, annotations and tags that are often used in landscape design were made, and a 3D view was materialized through visibility/graphic reassignment. As for tables and quantities, boundary stone table, mounding table, summary sheet of quantities, table of contents, and summary sheet of packaging quantities were grouped and connected with floor plans; regarding landscaping trees, classification criteria and name of trees that are suitable for domestic situations were applied. A landscape template was created to enable the library file format(rfa) that can be mounted on a building with BIM programs. As for problems that arose after the trial application of the prepared template, some CAD files could not be imported; also, while writing tables, the basis of calculation could not be made automatically. Regarding this, it is thought that functions of a BIM program and template need improvement.
