경북지역 소규모수도시설 이용자의 수질.비용에 대한 인식 (Cognition on Quality and Cost of Small Drinking Water Plants in Gyungbuk Region)

  • Groundwater is an essential drinking water source in Gyungbuk, South Korea. The primary source of nitrate in groundwater is from nitrogen fertilizers. Efficient management of a small drinking water plant requires a good understanding of its status such as the objective and the cognition of users. The objective of this study is to understand user situation and produce useful user-friendly policy based on user cognition. Most people who participated in this study, should take their groundwater from a good quality source. Even though they would like to have a good facility for getting safe water, they were reluctant to do it due to the cost used. It means that people who drink groundwater have no idea that health safety is affected by groundwater quality. The volume used depended upon personal activities such as agriculture and stockbreeding. We can easily find groundwater with nitrate that exceeds drinking water standards. Therefore, we have to carry out groundwater management with two categories ; 1) drinking water only and 2) others according to objectives in small drinking water systems.

  • This study presents the hydrogeochmical investigation to know the effect of geology and sources for water quality in small potable water supply system at rural area. The results of water quality in Geumsan area showed the 3.2% of water samples exceeded the limit of drinking water standard by bacteria. The hydrochemical investigation results indicated the high EC, Ca and HCO$_3$ in surface water and metasedimentary rocks and this is caused by the dissolution of calc-slicate minerals of metasedimentary rocks.

정수처리에 이용되는 나노여과막시스템의 성능예측방법 확립 (Treatability Prediction Method for Nanofiltration Systems in Drinking Water Treatments)

  • This research is conducted to develop predictable method of real scale nanofiltration treatability with small scale nanofiltration experiments. As a result of comparing calculated values with measured values, they are in a good agreement for the concentrations in filtered water and concentrated water. The results of that are not affected by change of system recovery from 20% to 95%. The proposed method is produced using constant recovery of elements, that is, no considering the pressure change. we can predict filtrated flux and contaminant concentrations with the method. The method has the following steps. (1) Calculate recovery of each element with water quality level after fixing recovery elements, (2) Predict system recovery with recovery of elements in 1, 2, 3, and 4 banks, (3) Run small scale nanofiltration experiments in predicted water quality and (4) Simulate large scale nanofiltration system for forecasting actual water quality. As the cost for nanofiltration pretest will reduced if we use the proposed method, it will be a promising method for introducing nanofiltration to supply safe drinking water.

경북지역의 먹는 물에서 지질에 따른 비소, 스트론튬, 셀레늄 검출 특성 (Occurrence of Arsenic, Strontium, and Selenium in Drinking Water in Kyungpook Province, Korea, in Relation to Geologic Formations)

  • 상수도 보급율이 계속적으로 높아지면서 먹는 물의 관리가 대형화 및 전문화되고 있어 안전한 물 공급에 유리한 면이 많다. 그러나 농어촌지역의 경우 소규모 상수도 및 지하수, 샘물 등을 먹는 물로 이용하는 경우가 여전히 많다. 지하수를 포함한 먹는 물에는 다양한 오염물질이 포함되어 있다. 개별 또는 소규모 정수시설의 경우 비소를 포함하는 중금속에 의해 오염되어 있을 가능성을 배제할 수 없고 대부분 자연기원인 셀레늄, 스트론튬 등의 미량원소의 농도도 높게 검출되는 경우가 있다. 본 연구에서는 경북중북부지역의 지하수, 소규모 먹는 물 공급시설을 대상으로 비소, 셀레늄, 스트론튬의 농도를 측정하였으며 오염 정도를 국내외 환경기준과 비교하고 시료를 채취한 지역의 지질적 특성과도 비교 분석하였다. 비소의 경우 총 1,412개의 시료 가운데 WHO 및 국내의 먹는 물 기준을 초과한 시료는 76개이며 비율은 5.38%이다. 셀레늄의 경우 총 1,283개의 시료 가운데 WHO의 권고기준을 초과한 시료는 4개이며 비율은 0.31%이다. 지질적 특성비교에서 비소의 경우 흑운모화강섬록암 > 흑운모 화강암 > 대구층에서 높게 검출되었으며, 셀레늄의 경우 흑운모화강암 > 흑색혈암 > 홍적층의 지질의 지역에서 높게 검출되었다.

학교 급수위생에 관한 연구 (A Survey of Sanitation of the Water Supply System in Schools)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the condition of school water supply systems and to provide a way to supply safe and sanitary water in schools. In 1991 present, 56.9% of schools in the whole nation are provided with water supply system. And in urban schools, the percentage of small water supply system was larger than that in city. In the survey on water quality of supply water in Seoul city, the items violating the water quality standard were total bacteria, Zinc and Manganse. For supply the safe drinking water changing the old water mains and executing periodical water quality surveys are needed in addition regulations on school supply water and sanitation are also necessary to the drinking water management in schools.

  • 농업활동이 활발한 지역에서의 지하수 오염은 이를 이용하는 주민들의 경제비용을 증가시키고, 이로 인해 적절한 수 처리기술을 도입하는데 있어 주민들의 부담이 증가한다. 지하수를 수원으로 하는 마을상수도의 수질 뿐 만 아니라 규모의 수준도 주민의 경제비용을 결정하는데 매우 중요한 인자로 작용한다. 즉 수질기준에 부적합한 지하수의 수질개선에 소요되는 비용을 지불하는 경우에, 지불비용과 수질개선 수준과의 관련성에는 마을상수도의 급수규모가 지불비용에 직접적인 영향을 미친다는 것이다. 따라서 마을상수도용 지하수를 대상으로 할 때, 수질부분에서 효율성을 높이고, 경제부분에서 절감할 수 있는 방법은 마을상수도의 수질과 규모를 고려하여 결정하는 것이다.

  • The mixing method of water and chemicals is significant in a small-scale water supply system because drinking water should be supplied with a certain quantity of remaining chemicals maintained. In the present study, the concentration distribution and the mixing index were obtained from four models, which were to find out the optimal mixing method of water and chemicals. The two models brought the good mixing effects out of the four, one for providing chemicals from the center of water supply pipe and the other for setting up the semicircle block at the downstream of the chemicals-providing pipe. As a result, the mixing effect was found out to be increased due to the diffusion and the disturbance of flows. In conclusion, these results are expected to contribute to designing the optimal mixing system.

  • In this paper, we propose a remote control system which is used by internet network system in the small water booster supply. So far, TMTC(Tele Metering Tele Control) has been used to control and monitor small water booster pump. But it is possible and easy to control and observe local booster panel with the rapid development of internet, This new system is to provide operators and managers with sufficient information and control in order to implement the operation in an efficient and economical way. This system consists of three parts that are controller, netpump server and netview client. Controller has a dual architecture. The motive for installing controller is the continuous production and supply of drinking water.

A small-scale membrane electro-dialyser for domestic use

  • A small-scale electro-dialysis system was constructed for domestic use. It is composed of six compartments in which five special polystyrene ionic membranes are housed. A series of experiments on the transport of sodium and chloride ions through polystyrene membranes was performed and the effects of electric current and voltage on the pH of water were investigated. This electrodialyser could reduce the NaCl content to an acceptable level (5307 mg/L) when water containing 9945 mg/L of sodium chloride is fed to the electrodialyser. The reduction was by the action of direct current 60 mA/100 mA when a 15 V / 20 V potential is maintained across the membrane. The results showed that the pH of the treated water attained a value in the range of 7-8, with the chloride concentration of 5307 mg/L when the voltage was in the range of 20 volts. This was achieved when two of the small-scale electro-dialysers were placed in series and the solutions from the respective compartments were mixed. This is considered useful because this complies to the requirement of drinking water standard both in terms of chloride and pH. Therefore, this type electrodialyserhas the potential for domestic uses in isolated houses where potable water supply is not available.

  • 유도결합 플라스마 질량 분석법(ICP-MS)을 이용하여 음용수 중의 전체비소를 정량하였다. 지하수 및 간이 상수도와 시판되는 먹는 물에 질산을 첨가하여 1%로 산성화한 후에 ICP-MS로 전제비소의 함량을 분석하였다. 그 결과 음용수 중의 전체 비소는 $30{\mu}g/L$ 이하로서 수질 기준치인 $50{\mu}g/L$ 이하의 값을 나타내었다.
