Alumina slurriers, having various amount of alumina and ratio of organic additives, were prepared for tape casting. The relative viscosities were compared to investigate influence of composition on stability of the slurry and plotted as a function of powder fraction. They raised with increasing powder fraction of slurries, revealing a exponential function curve, which means that stability of slurry was not affected by amount and composition of organic additives. Cast green tapes were tested under tensile condition at room temperature. The increase in alumina ratio and binder ratio was found to decrease strain to failure of green tapes from 363% to 45% and from 68% to 25%, respectively. Tensile strength of green tapes increased abruptly with increasing alumina ratio, which showed its maximum at 1 MPa. On other hand, Tensile strength increased continuously from 0.5 MPa to 4 MPa with increasing binder ratio. Mechanical properties of them were affected seriously and lost their properties by elevating temperature from 20$^{\circ}C$ to 80$^{\circ}C$.
(BaSr)$TiO_3$ (BST) thick films were prepared by tape casting method, using $BaTiO_3$ and $SrTiO_3$ powder slurry and their dielectric properties were investigated. With an additive, $Li_2CO_3$, the sintering temperature was lowered by $200^{\circ}C$. Sintering density was 5.7 g/$cm^3$ and the BST thick films exhibited a maximum dielectric constant, tunability at temperatures near phase transition point. Whilst their characteristics were deteriorated above the phase transition temperature, they were unchanged below the phase transition temperature, which is presumedly due to the acceleration of $90^{\circ}$ domain formation, its contribution to the relaxation of internal stress and the increase in sintering according to the replacement of Li.
To enhance the strength and formability of MCFC matrixes, alumina/${\gamma}$-LiAlO2 fiber-reinforced ${\gamma}$-LiAlO2 ma-trixes have been investigated. The MCFC matrixes with the thickness of 500~600 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ were prepared by tape-casting of the slurry containing 10~30wt% fibers, followed by heat-treating up to $650^{\circ}C$. The porosity of fi-ber-reinforced matrixes decreased with the content of fibers, while the appropriate porosity(50~60%) for MCFC matrixes could be attained by adding larger ${\gamma}$-LiAlO2 particles with the diameter of about 50${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ up to 50 wt%. The optimum length and content of the alumina fiber, both in the alignment of fibers and the enhancement of the strength, were found to be below 250${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and 20 wt%, respectively. On the other hand, the strength(156 gf/$\textrm{mm}^2$) of the ${\gamma}$-LiAlO2 matrix reinforced with ${\gamma}$-LiAlO2 fibers prepared in this study was improved by 20~40% in comparison with the alumina-fiber-reinforced matrix. It was also found that the alu-mina-fiber-reinforced matrix was completely corroded in molten carbonates but the ${\gamma}$-LiAlO2 was not.

In this study, polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) was used as a support and a separator was manufactured using polysulfone and inorganic additives to manufacture a separator with low membrane resistance for application of an alkali water electrolysis system, and then the effect on the thickness and porosity of the support was analyzed. The PPS felt used as a support was compressed with variables of temperature (100℃, 150℃, 200℃) and pressure (1 ton, 2 tons, 3 tons, 5 tons) to adjust the thickness. A porous separator could be manufactured by preparing a slurry with polysulfone using BaTiO3 and ZrO2 which have high hydrophilicity and excellent alkali resistance as inorganic particles and casting the slurry on a compressed PPS felt. Changes in morphology of the separator according to compression conditions were confirmed through an electron scanning microscope (SEM). After that, the porosity was calculated, and the thickness and porosity tended to decrease as the compression conditions increased. Various characteristics were evaluated to confirm whether it could be used as a separator for water electrolysis. As a result of measuring the mechanical strength, it was confirmed that the tensile strength gradually increased as the compression conditions (temperature and pressure) increased. Finally, it was confirmed that the porous separator manufactured through the alkali resistance test has excellent alkali resistance, and through the IV test, it was confirmed that the membranes compressed at 100℃ and 150℃ had a lower voltage and improved performance than the existing uncompressed membrane.
[ $(BaSr)TiO_3$ ] thick films were prepared by tape casting method, using $BaTiO_3\;and\;SrTiO_3$ powder slurry in order to investigate dielectric properties i.e. dielectric constant, ${\varepsilon}_r$, Curie temperature, $T_c$. Grain growth within $(BaSr)TiO_3$ thick films was observed with increasing weight ratio of $BaTiO_3$. This observation can be explained by phenomena of substitution of $Sr^{2+}$ ion for $Bi^{2+}$ ion in the $BaTiO_3$ system. Also, the Curie temperature in $(BaSr)TiO_3$ thick films was shifted to lower temperature range with increasing $ SrTiO_3$. Furthermore, Curie temperature having maximum dielectric constant was in the range of $-40^{\circ}C\;to\;30^{\circ}C$, and hence sharper phase transformation occurred at Curie temperature. There occurred decrease in tunability and k-factor of $(Ba_{0.6}Sr_{0.4})TiO_3$ calculated from the dielectric constant, ${\varepsilon}_r$ above Curie temperature. In addition, above the $60^{\circ}C$, phase fixation was observed. This means that internal stress relief occurred with increasing $90^{\circ}$ domains.

3D rapid prototyping is the manufacturing technology to fabricate a prototype with the data stored in a computer, which differs from conventional casting technology in terms of an additive process. Various 3D rapid prototyping techniques such as stereolithograpy. fused deposition modeling. selective laser sintering, laminated object manufacturing have been developed but among them, 3D inkjet printing has a unique feature that materials could be jetted to directly form the body of a prototype, which could be a finished product functionally and structurally. However, this needs ink with a high solid content, which tends to increase the dynamic viscosity of ink. The increase of ink viscositytends to restrict the jettable range of ink and hence the jetting conditions should be optimized. The intrinsic speed of sound in a hot melt ink with ceramic nanoparticles dispersed is one of key components to determine the jettable range of ink. In this paper, the way to measure the intrinsic speed of sound in a hot melt ceramic ink is proposed and its influence on the jetting condition is discussed.
Alumina powder was added in a general porcelain (Backja) with clay, feldspar and quartz contents to promote the mullite ($3Al_2O_3{\cdot}2SiO_2$) generation in the porcelain. Low melting materials ($B_2O_3(450^{\circ}C)$, $MnO_3(940^{\circ}C)$, CuO($1080^{\circ}C$)) were doped at ~3 wt% to modify the sinterability of porcelain with a high alumina contents and promote the mullite generation. Green body was made by slip casting method with blended slurry and then, they were fired at $1280^{\circ}C$ for 1hr by a $2^{\circ}C/min$. Densifications of samples with high alumina contents (20~30 wt%) were impeded. As the doping contents of low melting materilas increased, the sinterability of samples was improved. The shrinkage rate and bulk density of samples were improved by doping with low melting materials. Mullite phase increased with increasing the low melting contents in the phase analyses. This means lots of alumina and quartz were transformed into mullite phase by low melting contents doping. In the results, high bending strength of samples with high alumina contents was accomplished by improving the densification and mullite generation in the porcelain.
Silicon (Si) wafer was grown by using direct growth from Si melt and contaminations of wafer during the process were investigated. In our process, BN was coated inside of all graphite parts including crucible in system to prevent carbon contamination. In addition, coated BN layer enhance the wettability, which ensures the favorable shape of grown wafer by proper flow of Si melt in casting mold. As a result, polycrystalline silicon wafer with dimension of $156{\times}156$ mm and thickness of $300{\pm}20$ um was successively obtained. There were, however, severe contaminations such as BN and SiC on surface of the as-grown wafer. While BN powders were easily removed by brushing surface, SiC could not be eliminated. As a result of BN analysis, C source for SiC was from binder contained in BN slurry. Therefore, to eliminate those C sources, additional flushing process was carried out before Si was melted. By adding 3-times flushing processes, SiC was not detected on the surface of as-grown Si wafer. Polycrystalline Si wafer directly grown from Si melt in this study can be applied for the cost-effective Si solar cells.

A semi-solid alloy in which solid and liquid phase are co-existing is obtained by strirring of Al7075 molten metal. A semi-solid alloy is dependent on the corresponding temperature within the solid-liquid range, and the process parameters should be controlled accurately to obtain the homogeneous semi-solid alloy. The possibility o homogeneous fiber-reinforce aluminum alloy by addition of $Al_{2}$O$_{3}$ short fibers with vigorous agitation was investigated. The billet of composite materials was fabricated by squeeze casting, and homogeneous dipersion state of fibers in billet of fabricated metal matrix composites was observed. A slurry of semi-solid short fiber metal matrix composites is used in the direct rolling process, and this process showed the fabrication possibility of metal matrix composite sheets. The fabricated sheet was tested regarding vickers hardness, elongation and micro-structure. It has become clear that mashy state processing and working are very useful to obtain parts of composites material closed to near net shape.
In this study, the dispersion stability of CeO2 based complex oxide was studied, and density, porosity, and microstructure of green body were investigated using colloid surface chemistry to manufacture the Gd2O3 doped CeO2 solid electrolyte in an aqueous system. To prepare the stable slurry for slip casting, the dispersion stability was examined as a function of pH using ESA(electrokinetic sonic anplitude) analysis. The dynamic mobility of particles was enhanced with anionic and cationic dispersant were added the amount of 0.5wt% respectively, but pH value in slurries didn't move to below 6.0 because of the influence of dopants. This phenomenon also appeared in the CeO2-Y2O3 and CeO2-Sm2O3 systems, so it could be inferred that rare earth dopants such as Gd2O3, Sm2O3 and Y2O3 not only have the similar motion with changing pH in an aqueous system but also can be dissolved in the range of pH 6.0∼6.5. In CeO2-Gd2O3 system, when the anionic dispersant was added the amount of 0.5wt% and pH value in slurries was fixed at 9.5, the green body density was 4.07g/㎤, and the relative density of sintered body was 95.2%. It could be inferred from XRD analysis that Gd3+ substituted into Ce4+ site because there was no free Gd2O3 peak.
