활성제를 사용한 슬래그 미분말 혼합 모르타르의 강도 (Strength of Alkali-Activated GGBF Slag Mortar)

  • Ground granulated blast-furnace slag shows very high strength when proper alkali-activator exists. This paper deals with setting time, heat evolution rate and the strength development of alkali-activated slag cement activated by KOH, Ca(OH$)_{2}$, $Na_{2}$ $So_{4}$ , and alum(potassium aluminum sulfate). Alkali-activated slag mortar is studied by comparison with GGBF slag cement mortar. The experimental results indicate that for moisture curing at $25^{\circ}C$, the addiction of either 4% $Na_{2}$ $So_{4}$ or 4% alum increases the strength of GGBF slag cement mortar consisting of 50% GGBF slag and 50% portland cement at early age. Strength of activated GGBF slag cement mortars at 1, 3 and 7 days exceeded that of GGBF slag cement mortar. A conduction calorimeter was used to monitor early age hydration.

Setting and Strength Properties of Mortar Containing Steel Furnace Slag Dust

  • In this paper, the experimental investigation for the setting properties of cement paste, the consistency and strength properties of mortar with steel furnace slag dust was performed and compared with those of cement paste and mortar with ground granulated blast furnace slag. When steel furnace slag dust was replaced with normal portland cement, setting time and flow value indicated to good results like as mortar with ground granulated blast furnace slag. However, mortar with steel furnace slag dust expressed to appreciably strength devaluation according to containing ratio, and did not indicate the pozzolanic reaction like as ground granulated blast furnace slag.

페로니켈슬래그를 잔골재로 사용한 비소성 시멘트 모르타르의 강도 특성 (Strength Characteristics of Non-Sintered Cement Mortar Utilizing Ferro-Nickel Slag as Fine Aggregate)

  • 본 실험에서는 포틀랜드 시멘트와 모래를 비소성 시멘트와 페로니켈슬래그로 대체 사용하여 친환경 시멘트 모르타르를 제작하였다. 페로니켈슬래그가 적용된 비소성 시멘트 모르타르의 강도 특성을 파악하기 위해 골재 종류와 양생방법을 구분하였다. 휨 및 압축강도 시험 결과, 페로니켈슬래그가 적용된 비소성 시멘트 모르타르의 강도는 Plain과 증기양생을 실시한 비소성 시멘트 모르타르의 강도보다 높았다. 이는 페로니켈슬래그의 입도, 밀도 및 흡수율 특성에 따른 강도 향상 효과로 판단된다. 모르타르의 XRD 분석 결과, 페로니켈슬래그에 포함된 MgO 성분이 복합 산화물 형태로 존재하며, 이를 통해 페로니켈슬래그가 적용된 비소성 시멘트 모르타르의 안정적인 강도 발현을 확인하였다.

  • Recently in Korea, may workers have reported the effects of the granulated blast furnace slag[BFS] of high fineness on the strength development of slag cement. We have studied the effect of slag fineness on the strength development of mortar with curing conditions, in order to get the basic data of high strength concrete using BFS. In this paper, we discussed the effects of slag fineness and porosity of mortar and the reaction of slag in hardened slag cement.

  • In this paper, the characteristics of slag cement mortar added with neutralized liquid red mud with sulfuric acid and reduced pH were reviewed to improve the strength degradation of cement concrete added with liquid red mud. As a result, in the case of compressive strength up to 7 days, the strength of the cement mortar added with liquid red mud tends to increase compared to Plain. This shows that adding liquid red mud to cement mortar tends to increase the initial age strength, and the compressive strength on the 28th shows 74% of Plain when adding non-neutralized liquid red mud and 89% when adding sulfate neutralized red mud. Therefore, it is judged that the compression strength is improved by neutralizing the liquid red mud with sulfuric acid.

  • In this paper, the characteristics of slag cement mortar added with neutralized liquid red mud with nitric acid to reduce pH by neutralizing liquid red mud with nitric acid were reviewed to improve strength degradation of cement concrete added with liquid red mud. As a result, the compressive strength of cement mortar added with liquid red mud was higher than that of Plain on 1 and 3 days, and the strength of red mud neutralized with nitric acid was lower than that of cement mortar added with liquid red mud on 7 days, but the strength was recovered on 28th. It was found that the addition of red mud has the effect of improving the strength in the early age.

  • This study investigates the effect of partial replacement with cement on the properties of blast furnace slag-based mortar. Recycled fine aggregate with various contents was used to activate the hydration of blast furnace slag in the mortar and compared its effect on strength development. Results showed that increasing cement and recycled fine aggregate increased the strength of mortar specimens. However, this study found that the mortar made with partial replacement of river sand with recycled fine aggregate of 20% developed a similar strength to the strength that cement with 10% can achieved.

  • In this study, hardening characteristics and microstructure of blast furnace slag-cement mortar replaced alpha-calcium sulfate hemihydrate were analyzed. As a result of replacing alpha-calcium sulfate hemihydrate with 0, 10, 20, 30%, it was confirmed that the initial and final setting times are faster than that of blast furnace slag-cement mortar. The compressive strength of the specimens containing alpha-calcium sulfate hemihydrate decreased in the range of 42 ~ 76% at age 28 days compared with blast furnace slag-cement mortar. In the case of replacing the alpha-calcium sulfate hemihydrate, the shrinkage did not occur more rapidly than the cement mortar, but the slope of the strain curve showed a linear behavior. The results of scanning electron microscopy images analysis showed that the formation of ettringite was increased at alpha-calcium sulfate hemihydrate replaced mortar.

  • In order to investigate the rheological properties of belite-rich cement(BRC) added polycarbonate-based superplasticizer and blastfurnace slags which have different blaines at 4500, 6000 and 8000$\textrm{cm}^2$/g, the change of minislumps and mortar slumps are measured with time. The rheological properties improve as specific surface area of added slag decreases or amount of polycarbonate-based superplasticizer increases. The slump loss can be controlled effectively by the steric hinderance effect of polycarbonate-based superplasticizer. According to the results, when mix proportion of the mortar is 1.5% mass content of superplasticizer and 30% mass addition of blastfurnace slag which blaine is 4500$\textrm{cm}^2$/g, the best mortar slump can be achieved without any significant segregation of materials.

  • Slag and ash generally have a higher powder degree than portland cement, so workability may deteriorate under the same unit quantity condition, and strength and durability decrease when the unit quantity is increased. At this time, if an aggregate having a low water absorption and an appropriate particle size is used to recover the loss of strength, it can contribute to reducing the unit quantity of the binder. Therefore, for the purpose of improving the workability and strength of non-sintered cement mortar using slag and ash, ferro nikel slag whose particle size was adjusted was used as an aggregate and its applicability was identified. In this experimental condition, it was confirmed that non-sintered cement mortar tends to improve workability and secure strength when ferro nikel slag having various particle size distributions is used as an aggregate. This can be analyzed as the effect of ferro nikel slag material properties including glassy properties and mixing conditions with a wide particle size distribution.
