Flat plate system has many advantages, story height reduction, a term of works shortening and changeableness of space, etc. However structures become a tendency of higher stories and when we use RC column, the size of column grow larger. For this reason the use of CFT column is increasing more and more. Accordingly, this study carried out the nonlinear finite element analysis. As a result of analysis moment strength of the connection increased but ductility decreased as the top reinforcement ratio in th effective width increased. And moment strength and ductility of the connection decreased as gravity load ratio decreased. In the case that shearhead length is not more than 0.27m, the effectiveness of shearhead length on the moment strength and ductility of the connection were small relatively to other variables. Initial stiffness and moment strength of connection increased as slab thickness increased
Recently, precast concrete tracks are replacing ballast track for efficient and economic maintenance of track. Precast concrete railroad tracks are manufactured in factory, and transported to railroad construction site for installation. Therefore, quality of precast concrete track itself should be sufficiently good. On the contrary to the convenient manufacturing of precast concrete track, the installation of a precast concrete track requires careful steps. Typically, a precast concrete track is placed on an approximately 15-cm thick lean concrete layer. A mortar is filled between lean concrete layer and precast concrete track to adjust the sloping angle of a precast concrete track for a safe train operation at a curvy section. Then, the use of filled mortarproduces a void underneath a precast concrete track, which is harmful to structural safety of a precast concrete track undercyclic loading. Therefore, it is essential to make sure that there is no void left beneath a precast concrete track after mortar filling. In the continuous resonance method, the amplitude of frequency response measured using an instrumented hammer and an accelerometer is plotted against a pseudo-depth, which is half of the wave velocity divided by frequency. The frequency response functions are measured at consecutive measurement locations, 6-cm interval between measurement points, and then combined together to generate a 2-D plot of frequency response. The sections with strong reflections or large amplitude of frequency response are suspicious areas with internal voids and unfilled areas. The 2-D frequency response plot was efficient in locating problematic sections just by examining the color shade of a visualized plot in 2-D format. Some of the problematic sections were drilled to make a visual inspection of mortar filling. The visual image of interface between mortar and precast concrete track was verified using the validity of the continuous resonance technique adopted in this research.
An effective method was proposed in this study which can improve the strengthening effect of continuous girder bridges by external tendons. The improvement of the proposed strengthening method in comparison with conventional methods was analyzed by applying equivalent load concept. In order to verify the strengthening effect, the enhancement of load-carrying capacity achieved by external prestressing was investigated through the test of continuous beams that were or were not strengthened by the external prestressing. The continuous beams were fabricated by making the deck slab continuous according to general construction practice of an actual concrete girder bridge. The test results showed that the deflections and strains of the strengthened beam were significantly reduced when comparing with those of the non-strengthened beam for the same level of external loads, and the stiffness of the member increased by strengthening. In particular, it was verified that the proposed method can effectively reduce the tensile stresses of the deck caused by negative moment at the intermediate supports of a continuous bridge.

This paper reports the test results of the floating floor system used to reduce the floor noise of apartment buildings. Recently, many soft resilient materials placing between the reinforced concrete slab and finishing mortar are used. The resilient material should not only reduce the floor impact sound vibration from the floor but also support the load on the floor. Thus, even if soft resilient materials satisfy the maximum limitation of light-weight impact sound and heavy-weight impact sound, these materials may not support the load on the floor. The experimental program involved conducting sixteen sound insulation floating floor specimens. Three main parameters were considered in the experimental investigation: resilient materials, loading location, and layers of floor. Experimental results indicated that the stiffness of resilient material significantly influenced on the structural behavior of floating floor system. In addition, the deflection of the floating concrete floor loaded at the side or coner of the specimen was greater than that of the floor loaded at the center of the specimen. However, the aerated concrete did not effect on the cracking strength of floating floor system.

The paper investigates the limit state of deflection for short and medium span steel girder bridges. Deflection depends on stiffness of steel girders and integrity of the reinforced concrete slab (composite action). Load and resistance parameters are treated as random variables. A probabilistic model is developed for prediction of the deflection. The structural performance can be affected by deterioration of components, in particular corrosion of steel girders. In addition, the creep of concrete can greatly influence the deflection of composite structures. Therefore, the statistical models for creep and corrosion of structural steel are incorporated in the model. Structures designed according to the AASHTO LRFD Code are considered. Load and resistance models are developed to account for time-variability of the parameters. Monte Carlo simulations are used to estimate the deflections and probabilities of serviceability failure. Different span lengths and girder spacing are considered for structures designed as moment-controlled and deflection-controlled. A summary of obtained results is presented.
The development of railway roadbed for 600km/h train speed level is very difficult because unpredictable static and dynamic interaction occurs between the ultra-high speed train and the infrastructure. Especially, an earthwork-bridge transition zone is a section in which influential factors react, such as bearing capacity, compression, settlement, drainage, and track irregularity; these interactions can include complicated dynamic interaction. Therefore, if static and dynamic stability are secured in transition zones, it is possible to develop roadbeds for ultra-high speed railways. In the present paper, design parameters for transition reinforcement applied to present railway design criteria are analytically examined for ultra-high speed usage on a preferential basis. Design parameters are the presence of reinforcing materials, geometric shape, stiffness of materials, and so on. Analysis is focused on the deformation response of the track and running stability at ultra-high speed.

In the design of composite structures, shear connectors such as headed stud, channel, perforated plate, etc, are commonly used to transfer longitudinal shear forces across the steel-concrete interface. Many researches have been conducted to improve the characteristics of different types of shear connector. This paper presents the results of 11 push-out tests performed on the new perforated rib connectors with shearing bars embedded in concrete slab under static loads. The results obtained from these tests are as following : 1) The bearing plate welded on both sides of perforated rib plate improves the stiffness and strength. 2) The capacity of perforated connectors is influenced primarily by the transverse reinforcements and shearing bars.

The fatigue durability test using the actual size beam was performed with a cramp joint in order to apply to the highway bridge deck slab. Three types of beam were investigated for durability performance by considering stress conditions in real bridge deck slabs, 1) A beam with major shear force applied at the joint (RC Type) 2) A beam with major bending moments applied at the joint (PSC Type) 3) A beam with the pure shear applied at the joint. The experiment for beams with cramp joints showed that the cramp joint had enough durability for fatigue regardless of the overlaid length of the looped distribution bars under the current design strength level. Moreover, it was clarified that the enough durability for fatigue under the load repetition was achieved by increasing the joint span grater than 1.5D with the consideration of the deformation due to reduction in joint stiffness.
Cofferdams made of teel sheet piles are commonly utilized as support structures for excavation of sea-crossing bridge foundations. As cofferdams are often subject to tide variation, it is imperative to consider potential effects of tide on stability and serviceability of sheet piles, particularly, ultralong steel sheet piles (USSPs). In this study, a real USSP cofferdam constructed using new construction technology in Nanxi River was reported. The design of key parts of USSP cofferdam in the presence of tidal action was first introduced followed by the description of entire construction technology and associated monitoring results. Subsequently, a three-dimensional finite-element model corresponding to all construction steps was established to back-analyze measured deflection of USSPs. Finally, a series of parametric studies was carried out to investigate effects of tide level, soil parameters, support stiffness and construction sequence on lateral deflection of USSPs. Monitoring results indicate that the maximum deflection during construction occurred near the riverbed. In addition, measured stress of USSPs showed that stability of USSP cofferdam strengthened as construction stages proceeded. Moreover, the numerical back-analysis demonstrated that the USSP cofferdam fulfilled the safety requirements for construction under tidal action. The maximum deflection of USSPs subject to high tide was only 13.57 mm at a depth of -4 m. Sensitivity analyses results showed that the design of USSP cofferdam system must be further improved for construction in cohesionless soils. Furthermore, the 5th strut level before concreting played an indispensable role in controlling lateral deflection of USSPs. It was also observed that pumping out water before concreting base slab could greatly simplify and benefit construction program. On the other hand, the simplification in construction procedures could induce seepage inside the cofferdam, which additionally increased the deflection of USSPs by 10 mm on average.
Connections with damage concentrated to pre-selected components can enhance seismic resilience for moment resisting frames. These pre-selected components always yield early to dissipate energy, and their energy dissipation mechanisms vary from one to another, depending on their position in the connection, geometry configuration details, and mechanical characteristics. This paper presents behaviour insights on two types of beam-to-beam connections that the angles were designed as energy dissipation components, through the results of experimental study and finite element analysis. Firstly, an experimental programme was reviewed, and key responses concerning the working mechanism of the connections were presented, including strain distribution at the critical section, section force responses of essential components, and initial stiffness of test specimens. Subsequently, finite element models of three specimens were established to further interpret their behaviour and response that were not observable in the tests. The moment and shear force transfer paths of the composite connections were clarified through the test results and finite element analysis. It was observed that the bending moment is mainly resisted by axial forces from the components, and the dominant axial force is from the bottom angles; the shear force at the critical section is primarily taken by the slab and the components near the top flange. Lastly, based on the insights on the load transfer path of the composite connections, preliminary design recommendations are proposed. In particular, a resistance requirement, quantified by a moment capacity ratio, was placed on the connections. Design models and equations were also developed for predicting the yield moment resistance and the shear resistance of the connections. A flexible beam model was proposed to quantify the shear resistance of essential components.
