Transdermal permeation enhancer has been used to increased skin absorption. External control of drug release and skin absorption can also be achieved by iontophoresis or phonophoresis. However, because several problems with iontophoresis are that it has a risk to skin damage because of the change of pH and the increase of current density in applying it and that it can be applied only in the form of water solution, This study is to enhance drug permeation via skin following application of ultrasound. For this goal, in gel containing piroxicam, the degree of skin permeation in vitro and anti-inflammatory effect in in vivo were investigated. Permeation study using hairless mouse skin was performed at 37 $^{\circ}C$ using buffer saline as the receptor solution. The amount of piroxicam were quantified using a HPLC system consisting of solvent delivery system. Following adoption of ultrasound 1 MHZ, it showed relatively high permeation rate where it was compared with non treated by ultrasound. The influence of duty cycle having an effect on skin permeation rate was slight higher in the case of using pulsed mode. Skin permeation increase attended by intensity of ultrasound, the permeation of trice was accelerated at 2.0 W/$cm^{2}$ than 1.0 W/$cm^{2}$. The skin permeation of piroxicam was substantially influenced by ultrasound. Anti-inflammatory effects were determined using carrageenan-induced paw swelling method in SD rat. Paw swelling tests showed that pulsed phonophoresis group was more effective than control group and only gel application group. The conclusion of phonophoresis was found to improve significantly the skin permeation in vitro and the anti-inflammatory effect in vivo.
Various commercial shampoos were frequently prescribed for dermatologic therapy in small animal practice. Skim hydration affected by the shampoos, however, was not evaluated routinely. In order to evaluate the skin hydration for the exact prescription of shampoos method to measure skin hydration of shampoos are needed. This study was undertaken to evaluate the skin hydration effect of shampoo on canine skin using Corneometer. Five healthy dogs were applied with 7 commercial shampoos: Humilac, Sebocalm, Sebolytics, Etiderm, Benzoyl peroxide, HyLyt and Zn-7 Derm. Skin hydrations were evaluated by measurement of electrical capacitance by Corneometer. A statistically significant increase in skim hydration was found 17(p<0.05) and 77 minutes(p<0.01) after application of Humilac indicating a humidifying effect of this product. A statistically significant decrease in skin hydration was found for the Benzoyl peroxide after 77 minutes(p<0.05). No statistically significant differences between the other shampoos were found. None of the products tested had any negative effect on the skin barrier function. The Corneometer was found useful for detecting skin hydration to shampoos and considered as a simple and useful tool for prescription of various shampoos routine practice.

With the improvement of economic status and the desire for beauty, the interest in health and skin care is increasing. For these demands, since ages medicinal plants are in vogue. A variety of plants, cosmetics and foods with novel bioactive ingredients for skin care and beauty are under constant research and development. Skin is influenced by various factors such as Ultra-violet rays, stress, hormones and aging which together lead skin to lose elasticity, changes in pigmentation and wrinkle formation. Many medicinal plants have proven effects in skin care and beauty treatment. From this list of medicinal plants, one which is famous for its beauty, flavor and fragrance is Rosa damascene. Rosa damascene has many therapeutic action and postulated pharmacological studies such as anti-arthritic, anti-microbial, cardio protective, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, analgesic, immune-modulator, gastro-protective, and skin ameliorative effect. Research in the field of Cosmetology has proven the effect of Rosa damascene in rehydrating skin, reducing scars and stretches, acne management, lowering skin pigmentation, delaying wrinkling and is recommended as a skin vitalizing agent. In this review, the morphology, chemical constituents, and some pharmacological activity are discussed.
The effect of Azone and ethanol on the electrical properties of human and hairless mouse skin was studied and the results were compared. The complex electrical impedance was measured as a function of frequency, and resistance and capacitance were determined from Nyquist plot. After the treatment of human-heat separated epidermis with Azone, contrary to the expectation, resistance increased about 60% and it did not change with time. Capacitance also increased; immediately after the treatment, it was about 110% of pretreatment value and it increased further with time. On the other hand, when hairless mouse skin was treated with Azone, marked changes occured; resistance fell almost to the value of bathing medium itself and capacitance increased to about 200% of its pretreatment value. Similar result were obtained when hairless mouse skin was treated with 100% ethanol. The results suggest that there are differences in the strength of barrier properties of stratum corneum (SC) between human and hairless mouse skin. Overall, the results provide further mechanistic insight into ion conduction through the skin and into the role of SC lipids in skin capacitance.

This study was conducted to develop a new biomaterial to be used for skin whitening. The melanin elimination effect of chondroitin sulfate and phelinus linteus mushroom in rabbit back skin were evaluated. Rabbit dorsum was exposed to chronic UV irradiation(320nm) once daily for 30 days after initial melanin injection (100mg/kg). And then, chondroitin sulfate and phelinus linteus mushroom at dose of 0.7g for 30days were applied on the zone. The dorsal skin was histologically examined. Furthermore, we investigated free-radical extinction effect, antioxidation and tyrosinase activity inhibition effects. The histological study indicated that chondroitin sulfate and phelinus linteus mushroom decreasd melanine pigment significantly. As a result, chondroitin sulfate and phelinus linteus mushroom have a remarkable effect on the skin whitening by melanin elimination.
In order to examine oxidative stress of reactive oxygen species and the antioxidant effect of Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (CRP) extract, human skin melanoma cells were treated with various concentrations of hydrogen peroxide ($H_2O_2$). Antioxidant effect of CRP extract on $H_2O_2$-induced cytotoxicity, cell viability, DPPH-radical scavenging activity and superoxide dismutase (SOD)-like activity. In this study, $H_2O_2$ decreased cell viability of cultured human skin melanoma cells in dose- and time-dependent manners, and then, midcytotoxicity value (MCV) was determined at $60\;{\mu}M$ after human skin melanoma cells were cultured for 5 hours in the media containing $20{\sim}60\;{\mu}M$ of $H_2O_2$, respectively. The $H_2O_2$ was on cultured human skin melanoma cells because MCV of $H_2O_2$ was lower than $100\;{\mu}M$. In the antioxidant effect of CRP extract, CRP extract increased cell viability DPPH-radical scavenging activity and SOD-like activity. From these results, it is suggested that $H_2O_2$ was very toxic on cultured human skin melanoma cells. And also, CRP extract has the antioxidant effect on $H_2O_2$-induced cytotoxicity.

Collagen is the most abundant animal protein in mammals, accounting for about 30 % of all proteins. It is present in connective tissue and contributes to the structural framework of most organs. The tripeptide (glycineproline-hydroxyproline) with the INCI name Tripeptide-29 is main component of collagen type I. The palmitoyl tripeptide (palmitoyl-glycine-proline-hydroxyproline) with the INCI name Paimitoyi Tripeptide-29 is a synthetic material that was designed as a topical agent to stimulate collagen production. We synthesized the palmitoyl tripeptide as a potential anti-wrinkle compound. This compound has been characterized using HPLC. This compound proved, through in vitro tests, to stimulate collagen production and fibroblast proliferation. These results were very promising, so human studies were subsequently performed. We investigated the skin improvement effect of the palrnitoyl tripeptide on human skin by using non-invasive instruments. We measured physiological effects such as skin wrinkles and elasticity after volunteers applied the cosmetic products for 8 weeks. We observed significant improvement in skin wrinkles and elasticity after use of the cosmetic products for 8 weeks. We concluded that the palmitoyl tripeptide had an anti-aging effect on human facial skin.
Objectives : Washing face is the first step in skin beauty and health. I wanted to study the cleansing effect by using Placenta cp (cold process) soap. The skin condition is greatly influenced by the external environment such as lifestyle, drinking, smoking, and stress etc. I tried to measure the skin change state without environmental factors. Methods : In order to examine the effect before and after washing face under the same conditions, the same water and towel were used in the same place. The skin test was performed before and 10 minutes after washing. As a control group, a case of washing with water and foam cleanser. I compared and analyzed three cases: water washing, F/C (foam cleanser) washing, and Placenta cp soap washing. Results : In the case of water washing, it was significantly reduced in pores and increased in facial temperature. In the case of F/C washing, the facial temperature was significantly increased, but the decrease in moisture. In the case of washing with Placenta cp soap, significant reductions in T-zone and U-zone oil content, reduction in pore size, and increase in facial skin temperature were observed. Conclusion : In the case of Placenta cp soap, it is thought to be suitable for oily skin type, because of significant decrease in T-zone and U-zone oil content. It is thought to have the effect of increasing blood circulation in the facial skin and to reduce pores for oily skin types.
