Purpose: This study used the Analytic Hierarchy Process to evaluate the relative importance of the factors that school nutrition teachers and dietitians consider during menu planning for school foodservices across various educational levels. Methods: An online survey was conducted from December 2023 to January 2024. The hierarchical structure for school foodservice menu management was developed through content analysis, consisting of five high-level categories and 3-4 low-level factors. Questionnaires were distributed to 395 nutrition teachers and dietitians from kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high schools nationwide. One hundred and sixty-six responses were received, resulting in a 42.0% return rate. These responses were analyzed using Microsoft Excel and SPSS Statistics. Results: The most commonly referenced sources for school foodservice menu planning were 'menus obtained from websites' (19.4%). The most significant challenge encountered was 'incorporating students' preferences' (18.6%). In the hierarchy of categories considered for school foodservice menu management, 'employees and facilities' ranked highest (0.2347), followed by 'preference' (0.2312), 'nutrition balance' (0.2027), 'cooking process' (0.1726), and 'food materials' (0.1588). Within each category, the top-ranked factors were 'employees' cooking skills' (0.3759), 'students' preferences' (0.4310), 'dietary reference intakes' (0.4968), 'foodservice hygiene' (0.4374), and 'food costs' (0.4213). The study also compared the relative importance of factors according to the educational levels, and the top-ranked factors were the same across all educational levels. In particular, 'students' preferences', 'dietary reference intake', and 'food costs' aligned with the top three challenges in school foodservice menu planning. Conclusion: Enhancing working conditions for school foodservice employees and developing menu planning methods that accommodate students' preferences are necessary. These findings will provide foundational data for future school foodservice menu management strategies.

Objective : In this study, we aimed to investigate the effectiveness of family-centered intervention conducted with caregivers of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in South Korea through a systematic literature review. Methods : Previous studies published from 2011 to 2021 were searched through RISS, KISS, and DBpia. The search terms applied included "autism spectrum" OR "general developmental disorder" OR "high-functioning autism" OR "Asperger's" AND "parent education" OR "family-centered intervention" OR "parent coaching" OR "parent training" OR "family participation." A total of 11 experimental studies were chosen based on the selection criteria. Results : According to the findings on the general characteristics of the study participants, intervention strategies, and effects of the intervention, it was observed that the majority of children with ASD who participated in the study were preschool-aged, and the majority of participating caregivers were mothers. The effects of family-centered interventions were evident in both children and parents. In children, the most significant effects were observed in interaction and communication skills. In parents, a reduction in parenting stress and an improvement in parenting efficacy were observed. The intervention strategies employed in the study varied, with sensory integration intervention, responsive communication, and interaction-centered intervention being the most commonly used, followed by developmental-centered intervention, positive behavior support (PBS), and parent-mediated intervention based on pivotal response treatment (PRT). Conclusion : The results of this study are significant in that they confirm that family-centered intervention is effective not only in improving the functioning of children with autism spectrum disorder, but also in reducing parenting stress and enhancing parenting efficacy, and provide evidence for clinical use.
Purpose: This study examined the factors affecting sugar intake in adults based on social cognitive theory. Methods: An online survey regarding the intake frequency of sugar-source food, factors related to sugar intake based on social cognitive theory, perceptions of sugar intake, and health-related factors was conducted in October 2019 with 1,022 adults (502 men and 520 women) aged 19-49 years. The intake frequency of sugar-source food was divided into tertiles using percentiles based on the daily frequency. Results: The daily intake frequency of sugar-source foods was 4 times, with beverages (1.87 times/day) and sweetened coffee (0.81 times/day) being the highest among the food groups and types, respectively. The group with a high intake frequency of sugar-source food had a high negative outcome expectation for reducing sugar intake, and was in a home and social environment with easy access to sweet food. Women in this group showed low self-efficacy and poor behavioral capability in reducing sugar intake. Self-control had the lowest average score among the factors of social cognitive theory (2.56/5 points), followed by nutrition knowledge related to sugar (5.42/10 points). As a result of regression analysis, the social cognitive factor affecting the intake frequency of sugar-sourced foods was found to be home environment for both men and women. On the other hand, factors contributing to reducing sugar intake were positive outcome expectations for men and behavioral skills for women. Conclusion: Dietary education and nutritional interventions for adults, including changes in the home environment with easy access to sweet foods, can reduce sugar intake and raise positive expectations for reduced sugar intake.

Purpose: Recent advancements in interventional radiology have made angioembolization an invaluable modality in trauma care. Angioembolization is typically performed by interventional radiologists. In this study, we aimed to investigate the safety and efficacy of emergency angioembolization performed by trauma surgeons. Methods: We identified trauma patients who underwent emergency angiography due to significant trauma-related hemorrhage between January 2020 and June 2023 at Jeju Regional Trauma Center. Until May 2022, two dedicated interventional radiologists performed emergency angiography at our center. However, since June 2022, a trauma surgeon with a background and experience in vascular surgery has performed emergency angiography for trauma-related bleeding. The indications for trauma surgeon-performed angiography included significant hemorrhage from liver injury, pelvic injury, splenic injury, or kidney injury. We assessed the angiography results according to the operator of the initial angiographic procedure. The term "failure of the first angioembolization" was defined as rebleeding from any cause, encompassing patients who underwent either re-embolization due to rebleeding or surgery due to rebleeding. Results: No significant differences were found between the interventional radiologists and the trauma surgeon in terms of re-embolization due to rebleeding, surgery due to rebleeding, or the overall failure rate of the first angioembolization. Mortality and morbidity rates were also similar between the two groups. In a multivariable logistic regression analysis evaluating failure after the first angioembolization, pelvic embolization emerged as the sole significant risk factor (adjusted odds ratio, 3.29; 95% confidence interval, 1.05-10.33; P=0.041). Trauma surgeon-performed angioembolization was not deemed a significant risk factor in the multivariable logistic regression model. Conclusions: Trauma surgeons, when equipped with the necessary endovascular skills and experience, can safely perform angioembolization. To further improve quality control, an enhanced training curriculum for trauma surgeons is warranted.
This study aims to identify the main factors that caused the digital divide during the COVID-19 pandemic. Utilizing data from the 2020 and 2021 Digital Divide Surveys by the National Information Agency, a research model was constructed for analysis using SmartPLS 4, applying PLS-SEM and Multigroup Analysis methods. The results of the study are as follows. First, combining 2020 and 2021, mobile internet usage during COVID-19 is positively associated with digital skills, digital usage, and usage outcomes except for networking. Second, the impact of digital usage was significantly higher during the outbreak than during the beginning of COVID-19, which may be due to the increased demand for digital usage as the outbreak continued, and the corresponding increase in internet usage. Third, we discovered that demographics are not the main factor affecting changes in mobile internet use during the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, digital literacy affects mobile usage, which is the most important one. The results show the importance of creating programs to teach people how to use technology appropriately. We propose that digital literacy should be central to training programs for people who use digital services.

This study investigated and compared orientations toward scientific inquiry learning among general and science-gifted elementary students. It also investigated and compared the relationship between their orientations toward scientific inquiry learning and their coping strategies for anomalous situations. To realize this, 61 general elementary students and 53 science-gifted elementary students in Seoul were selected, and questionnaires were administered to investigate their orientations toward scientific inquiry learning and coping strategies for anomalous situations. In addition, semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted individually with some of the general and science-gifted students. The results showed that among orientations toward scientific inquiry learning, regardless of grade level, the general students were most likely to possess 'concept understanding' and second most likely to exhibit 'scientific practice'. On the other hand, the science-gifted students demonstrated the highest frequency of 'scientific practice', with 'concept understanding' and 'complexity' also being relatively common. 'Activity driven' was found only among some of the general students and 'engineering practice' was found only among some of the science-gifted students. 'Process skills' were not found. No clear relationships between orientations toward scientific inquiry learning and coping strategies for anomalous situations were found. However, some differences in the choice of coping strategies for anomalous situations between the general and science-gifted students were discovered, even when they had the same orientations toward scientific inquiry learning. The educational implications of these findings were discussed.

The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of emotional intelligence on college students' sense of community and psychological well-being. Accordingly, a survey was conducted targeting 267 college students attending universities in the Busan and Gyeongnam regions. For data analysis, the SPSS 21 program was used to check the general characteristics of the survey subjects, the mean, standard deviation, skewness, and kurtosis of the main variables. Correlation analysis was performed to check multicollinearity among the main variables, and mediation effects were examined. For this purpose, regression analysis was conducted according to the three-step verification method proposed by Barron and Kenny.The results of this study were as follows. First, college students' sense of community was found to have a significant impact on their psychological well-being. Second, the sense of community perceived by college students was found to have a significant impact on emotional intelligence. Third, emotional intelligence was found to have a significant impact on psychological well-being. Lastly, emotional intelligence was confirmed to have a partial mediating effect in the relationship between college students' sense of community and psychological well-being. Lastly, emotional intelligence was confirmed to have a partial mediating effect in the relationship between college students' sense of community and psychological well-being. Accordingly, we strive to find and implement various ways to increase the sense of community that is closely related to the emotional intelligence skills and social participation of college students in the special situation of college, so that college students can form and sustain a happier and more satisfying life. A speech processing model based on a psycholinguistic approach can identify the specific speech processing deficits of children with speech sound disorders (SSDs) through various pathways. In most cases, the cause of the speech problem with SSD children is unknown, so it is important to identify the underlying strengths and weaknesses for individualized intervention. In addition, because the native language deficits can also affect foreign language production, it is necessary to examine speech processing abilities between the two languages. This study is a preliminary study to develop a Korean-English speech processing task system. Speech production task and speech processing task (DT, PRT, NRT) were conducted both in Korean and English on 10 children with SSD and 20 normal children (NSA). As a result, the SSD group showed significantly lower production ability than the NSA group in both languages. As a result of the speech processing task, there was no significant difference in the discrimination task (DT), while there was a significant difference between language types in the phonological representation task (PRT) and between language types and groups in the nonword repetition task (NRT). The results of this study confirmed that children's native language and foreign language processing skills may be different, and that the sub-tasks of speech processing system should be further subdivided.
Purpose: To date, there is no region-specific guideline for pediatric endoscopy training. This study aimed to illustrate the current status of pediatric endoscopy training in Asia-Pacific region and identify opportunities for improvement. Methods: A cross-sectional survey, using a standardized electronic questionnaire, was conducted among medical schools in the Asia-Pacific region in January 2024. Results: A total of 57 medical centers in 12 countries offering formal Pediatric Gastroenterology training programs participated in this regional survey. More than 75% of the centers had an average case load of <10 cases per week for both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopies. Only 36% of the study programs employed competency-based outcomes for program development, whereas nearly half (48%) used volume-based curricula. Foreign body retrieval, polypectomy, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy, and esophageal variceal hemostasis, that is, sclerotherapy or band ligation (endoscopic variceal sclerotherapy and endoscopic variceal ligation), comprised the top four priorities that the trainees should acquire in the autonomous stage (unconscious) of competence. Regarding the learning environment, only 31.5% provided formal hands-on workshops/simulation training. The direct observation of procedural skills was the most commonly used assessment method. The application of a quality assurance (QA) system in both educational and patient care (Pediatric Endoscopy Quality Improvement Network) aspects was present in only 28% and 17% of the centers, respectively. Conclusion: Compared with Western academic societies, the limited availability of cases remains a major concern. To close this gap, simulation and adult endoscopy training are essential. The implementation of reliable and valid assessment tools and QA systems can lead to significant development in future programs.
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of grit on the resilience of elementary science gifted and general students in their daily lives, and to identify the differences between science gifted students in university gifted centers and elementary school gifted classes and normal students. The grit and resilience test was administered to 154 scientifically gifted students and 98 non-gifted students. Based on the collected data, descriptive statistical analysis, measurement model analysis, and multigroup structural model analysis were conducted. The results of the study were as follows: First, across all sub-factors of grit and resilience, the gifted students showed significantly higher levels of resilience than non-gifted students. Second, the path from making perseverance of effort in grit to resilience showed a positive effect, while the path from consistency of interest in grit to resilience showed a negative effect. Third, in all groups, including regular classes, the school for gifted, and the university-affiliated gifted students, the perseverance of effort in grit exhibited a positive effect on resilience, and the consistency of interest in grit showed a negative effect on interpersonal relationship skills in resilience for both the non-gifted and the gifted students. Lastly, gifted students showed a significant difference in the path from perseverance of effort in grit to the sub-factors of resilience, whereas non-gifted students did not.
