The analysis method on air gap permeance distribution, air gap MMF distribution, air gap flux density distribution, cogging torque and BEMF about the skewed stator slots or the skewed rotor magnet segments for BLDCM, respectively, is studied as a function of the skew ratio. The proposed method describes the differences between the skewed stator slots and teh skewed rotor magnet segments for the air gap permeance distribution, air gap MMF distribution and air gap flux density distribution. The reliability of the method is also confirmed by the waveform of the cogging torque and BEMF through experiments. And the result shows that the effects on the cogging torque and BEMF due to the skewed stator slots or the skewed rotor magnet segments are the same. In case of the skewed stator slots, the effects of the variations of the winding resistance and inductance are also studied.

We obtain a skewed double Weibull distribution by a double Weibull distribution, and evaluate its coefficient of skewness. And we obtain the approximate maximum likelihood estimator(AML) and moment estimator of skew parameter in the skewed double Weibull distribution, and hence compare simulated mean squared errors(MSE) of those estimators. We compare simulated MSE of two proposed reliability estimators in two independent skewed double Weibull distributions each with different skew parameters. Finally we introduce a skewed double Weibull distribution generated by a uniform kernel.

A skewed double power function distribution is defined by a double power function distribution. We shall evaluate the coefficient of the skewness of a skewed double power function distribution. We shall obtain an approximate maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) and a moment estimator (MME) of the skew parameter in the skewed double power function distribution, and compare simulated mean squared errors for those estimators. And we shall compare simulated MSEs of two proposed reliability estimators in two independent skewed double power function distributions with different skew parameters.
Skewed t distributions have attracted significant attention in the last few years. In this paper, a generalization - referred to as the skewed generalized t distribution - with the pdf f(x) = 2g(x)G(${\lambda}x$) is introduced, where g(${\cdot}$) and G (${\cdot}$) are taken, respectively, to be the pdf and the cdf of the generalized t distribution due to McDonald and Newey (1984, 1988). Several particular cases of this distribution are identified and various representations for its moments derived. An application is provided to rainfall data from Orlando, Florida.

Meta-analysis refers to quantitative methods for combining results from independent studies in order to draw overall conclusions. We consider hierarchical models including selection models under a skewed heavy tailed error distribution proposed originally by Chen et al. (1999) and Branco and Dey (2001). These rich classes of models combine the information of independent studies, allowing investigation of variability both between and within studies, and incorporate weight function. Here, the testing for the skewness parameter is discussed. The score test statistic for such a test can be shown to be expressed as the posterior expectations. Also, we consider the detail computational scheme under skewed normal and skewed Student-t distribution using MCMC method. Finally, we introduce one example from Johnson (1993)'s real data and apply our proposed methodology. We investigate sensitivity of our results under different skewed errors and under different prior distributions.

The well-known mode-mean-median inequality for the unimodal population distribution does not always hold for the frequency distribution. But many elementary statistics text books just mention that the relative location of the mean and median can be used to determine whether a distribution is positively or negatively skewed. In this paper we introduce the method generating data that is positively skewed but mean
This research examines the effect of positively skewed population distribution on the two sample t-test through simulation. For simulation work, two independent samples were selected from the same chi-square distributions with 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 degrees of freedom and sample sizes 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, respectively. Chi-square distribution is largely skewed to the right at small degrees of freedom and getting symmetric as the degrees of freedom increase. Simulation results show that the sampled populations are distributed positively skewed like chi-square distribution with small degrees of freedom, the F-test for the equality of variances shows poor performances even at the relatively large degrees of freedom and sample sizes like 30 for both, and so it is recommended to avoid using F-test. When two population variances are equal, the skewness of population distribution does not affect on the t-test in terms of the confidence level. However even though for the highly positively skewed distribution and small sample sizes like three or five the t-test achieved the nominal confidence level, the error limits are very large at small sample size. Therefore, if the sampled population is expected to be highly skewed to the right, it will be recommended to use relatively large sample size, at least 20.

We consider the Bayesian accelerated failure time model. The error distribution is assigned a skewed normal distribution which is including normal distribution. For noninformative priors of regression coefficients, we show the propriety of posterior distribution. A Markov Chain Monte Carlo algorithm(i.e., Gibbs Sampler) is used to obtain a predictive distribution for a future observation and Bayes estimates of regression coefficients.
Steel tubular towers are commonly used in UHV and long crossing transmission lines. By considering effects of the model scale, the solidity ratio and the ratio of the mean width to the mean height, wind tunnel tests under different wind speeds on twenty tubular steel tower body models and twenty-six tubular steel cross-arm models were completed. Drag coefficients and shielding factors of the experimental tower body models and cross-arm models in wind directional axis for typical skewed angles were obtained. The influence of the lift forces on the skewed wind load factors of tubular steel tower bodies was evaluated. The skewed wind load factors, the wind load distribution factors in transversal and longitudinal direction were calculated for the tubular tower body models and cross-arm models, respectively. Fitting expressions for the skewed wind load factors of tubular steel bodies and cross-arms were determined through nonlinear fitting analysis. Parameters for skewed wind loads determined by wind tunnel tests were compared with the regulations in applicable standards. Suggestions on the drag coefficients, the skewed wind load factors and the wind load distribution factors were proposed for tubular steel transmission towers.
