경주시 도시경관과 그 이미지에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Townscape and Image of Kyungju City)

  • The purpose of this study is to interpret the townscape of Kyungju based on the urban images captured by citizens. 58 verval interviews and 50 sketch maps were collected and analized comparing with York which was a similar old city in England. In the verbal questions, elements like tombs, historic remains, families and historic values were frequently mentioned mainly because of their social and historic meaning. But in the sketch maps, physical elements like railroad station, city hall, roundabouts and streets were more frequently appeared probably because of their visibility. As a whole, many tombs which were built long ago in and around the city were commonly mentioned in verbal questions, sketch maps and even in nicknames. As the most dominant factors, it can be compared with York Minster in York. But whereas the shopping streets in York were very attractive to the people, many streets in Kyungju were regarded as dirty and inharmonious elements in townscape. In conclusion, we can call Kyungju 'the city of tombs', but to evoke the sense of place in the city the streets should be improved and activated as the center of city life.

중학생의 영토정체성에 관한 연구 -스케치맵에 나타난 영토, 국경, 이웃한 나라에 대한 인식을 바탕으로- (A Study of Middle School Students' Perception regarding Territorial Identity: Assessing their Freehand Sketch Maps of Territory, National Border, and Neighboring Countries)

  • 본 연구는 탈영토화 시대의 영토교육을 위한 기초자료로써 학생들의 영토 인식을 이해하고 진단하는 데 목적이 있다. 학생들이 그린 스케치맵을 통해 영토의 형태와 국경, 지리적 위치, 그리고 국경을 마주하고 있는 국가들에 대한 인식이 어떻게 나타나는 지 알아 보았다. 또한, 북한과 DMZ, 독도에 대한 인식을 통해 다른 국가나 우리나라에 대한 가치, 태도, 감정이 간접적으로 어떻게 영토지도에 표현되었는지를 분석하였다. 본 연구는 기존의 연구들과 달리 스케치맵과 사후 인터뷰를 통한 정성적인 분석방법을 채택하였다. 스케치맵 방식은 학생들이 영토에 대한 자신의 생각을 자유롭게 표현하도록 함으로써 구조화된 설문지를 이용하는 방식보다 영토정체성에 대한 맥락과 담론을 보다 풍부하게 제공한다. 이를 통해 67개의 코드와 626개의 인용구를 포함한 코드리스트를 추출하였다. 정성적 분석에서 도출한 변인들 간의 상관관계나 학생들의 성적과의 비교 분석을 위해 SPSS를 이용한 정량적인 분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과를 토대로 지리교육의 영역에서 바람직한 영토교육의 모형과 교수-학습 자료의 개발을 위한 논의를 제시하였다.

  • Seongbuk Village and Ungcheon Village are Town Wall Villages that reflect social and historical backgrounds. villagers have formed villages based on community life. The streets and places of the villages are accumulated as images in the memory of the inhabitants. Based on their imagination-concept, 30 sketch maps, reflecting residents' cognitive perception were collected. Analysis of 30 sketch maps shows that other forming of Collective maps. In the past, Villages historical facilities had changed roles, but the relationship between the place and the place has been continuous, and according to the development process of the villages, the relationship between streets and places has been formed. Following this, the analysis methodology of social spaces and sketch will be examined in depth.

XML 문서의 클러스터링 기법을 이용한 스케치맵 시스템 (Sketch Map System using Clustering Method of XML Documents)

  • 최근 각광을 받고 있는 지도(이하 맵)를 활용한 서비스는 맵에 접근한 후 인터페이스를 통해 다양한 매쉬업 형태의 결과를 제공하는 방식이다. 이러한 서비스는 사용자에게 정확한 정보를 제공할 수는 있지만 맵의 재활용은 어렵다. 본 논문의 스케치맵 시스템은 기존의 대형 맵 시스템과는 달리 목적에 부합하는 특정 지점과 경로를 XML 문서로 표현한다. 또한, 스케치맵 간에 클러스터링 방법을 사용함으로써 맵에서 표현되는 지점을 최적의 내용으로 갱신한다. 그 결과로서, 목적지점에 대한 경로를 간단하게 약도로 표현하기 위해 설계된 맵 서비스 시스템이다. 본 시스템은 스케치 맵의 XML 문서 입력에 대하여 스케치맵 생성기에서 분석 분할 클러스터링의 과정을 통해 유효한 형태의 스케치맵을 생성한다. 스케치맵의 분할 및 병합을 위한 질의처리 방법으로는 LCS(Longest Common Subsequence) 알고리즘을 사용하였다. 또한, 본 스케치맵 시스템에 대한 기대효과를 시뮬레이션으로 제시하여 정보와 지식을 공유하는 보이는 맵들이 모여 거대한 맵을 형성함으로서 새로운 검색 포털로서의 역할을 수행할 수 있음을 보인다.

초등학교 교과서 겨냥도와 전개도의 고찰 -역대 교육과정과 외국 교과서의 검토를 바탕으로- (A Study on Sketch Maps and Planar Figures in Elementary School - In Consideration of Successive Korean Curriculums and Foreign Textbooks)

  • 본 연구에서는 초등학교 수학교과의 전통적 교육내용인 겨냥도와 전개도에 대해 논의하였다. 우선 현행 2009 개정교육과정 교과서 일부 내용에서 난이도와 제시의도 등의 문제를 제기하고, 보다 일반적인 관점에서 겨냥도와 전개도의 위상에 대한 의문을 제기하였다. 이를 논하기 위해, 전개도와 겨냥도가 교육과정에 따라 어떻게 다루어졌는지 조사하였고, 외국의 교과서를 우리나라와 비교하여 살펴보았다. 이를 바탕으로 현행 교과서에 지금과 같은 내용이 들어오게 된 맥락을 고찰하고, 그림 표현의 문제, 입체도형 구성의 문제라는 관점에서 시사점을 논의하였다.

중국 윈난성(云南省) 소수민족 전통마을 청쯔고촌(城子古村)의 공간 인지 특성 연구 (A Study on the Spatial Cognition Characteristics at Minority Traditional Village of Chengzi in Yunnan Province of China)

  • Chinese ethnic minorities are inheriting their own traditions based on thousands of years of community life. Yunnan province in china is a castle in which many ethnic minorities have been living on the basis of various natural environments. Their traditional village can be regarded as a place reflecting minorities' thousands year of history and culture, and elements of positive social spaces are seen from the old village. Streets and places of the village are accumulated as images for residents. Based on their imagination-concept, sketch maps, reflecting residents' cognitive perception were collected. Analysis of 21 sketch maps shows that architectural elements, forming a unique landscape and community life contribute to establish a unity of one nation. the oldest tree in the village has a strong specificity as a place with the belief that the tree protects all residents in the village. Space in the head of the residents and Social spaces, embedded in the memories of the residents living in the community continued organically and the roads of the village showed clear recognition. Following this, the analysis methodology of social spaces and sketch will be examined in depth.

심성모형 기반의 마우스 제스처 개발 (Mouse Gesture Design Based on Mental Model)

  • Various web browsers offer mouse gesture functions because they are convenient input methods. Mouse gestures enable users to move to the previous page or tab without clicking its relevant icon or menu of the web browser. To maximize the efficiency of mouse gestures, they should be designed to match users' mental models. Mental models of human beings are used to make accurate predictions and reactions when certain information has been recognized by humans. This means providing users with appropriate information about mental models will lead to fast understanding and response. A cognitive response test was performed in order to evaluate whether the mouse gestures easily associate with their respective functional meanings or not. After extracting mouse gestures which needed improvement, those were redesigned to reduce cognitive load via sketch maps. The methods presented in this study will be of help for evaluating and designing mouse gestures.

집합주거단지 거주자의 인지도에 따른 이미지 분석 (The Analysis of Image by Cognitive Map of residents in apartment housing)

  • Each of us has personal and unique "Mental Images" of environment that are the results of a two-way process between an observer and his environment. By understanding of people's image on their physical settings through cognitive maps, congruent with their design environment. In this context, this study is to fine out the characteristics of the resident's image in apartment housing that are modern housing. This paper is theoretically based on Appleyard's cognitive maps types, Lynch's the components of image, Harrison and Howard's image enhancing factors and Applyard's image enhancing factors of buildings. For the purpose of this study, two-instruments were used. One was sketch mapping, that told of visual aspects of cognitive map. Another was verbal questionnaire, which was composed of nonvisual aspects of image components and image enhancing factors. For the methods of research analysis, Percentage, Frequency, and Chi-square test were used. The results of this study are as follows. Firstly, as for the types of cognitive maps, the rate of sequential maps and spatial maps are nearly same. Secondly, as for the components of images, landmarks and districts are significant elements in apartment housing, and edges, nodes and paths are rare element. Thirdly, with regard to image enhancing factors, landscaping is shown to be most effective at landmarks and districts. And finally, in examing the differences of images between various social groups, significant variables are years of living and housing size. Age and income are the next. In this study of image, we can learn about manner in which individuals come to see, understand, and cope with the environment at a personal level. So, user-oriented approach is useful in environmental design, and particularly, it is useful in the apartment housing of the future life space.

터치스크린 기반 웹브라우저 조작을 위한 손가락 제스처 개발 (Development of Finger Gestures for Touchscreen-based Web Browser Operation)

  • Compared to the existing PC which uses a mouse and a keyboard, the touchscreen-based portable PC allows the user to use fingers, requiring new operation methods. However, current touchscreen-based web browser operations in many cases involve merely having fingers move simply like a mouse and click, or not corresponding well to the user's sensitivity and the structure of one's index finger, making itself difficult to be used during walking. Therefore, the goal of this study is to develop finger gestures which facilitate the interaction between the interface and the user, and make the operation easier. First, based on the frequency of usage in the web browser and preference, top eight functions were extracted. Then, the users' structural knowledge was visualized through sketch maps, and the finger gestures which were applicable in touchscreens were derived through the Meaning in Mediated Action method. For the front/back page, and up/down scroll functions, directional gestures were derived, and for the window closure, refresh, home and print functions, letter-type and icon-type gestures were drawn. A validation experiment was performed to compare the performance between existing operation methods and the proposed one in terms of execution time, error rate, and preference, and as a result, directional gestures and letter-type gestures showed better performance than the existing methods. These results suggest that not only during the operation of touchscreen-based web browser in portable PC but also during the operation of telematics-related functions in automobile, PDA and so on, the new gestures can be used to make operation easier and faster.
