  • The harmonic reduction method of ac motor drive, ACL and DCL were commonly used, but the current distortion ratio was only 35%, thus the several different types of filters as BBHF(broad band harmonic filter), HHF(hybrid harmonic filter), NHHF(new hybrid harmonic filter) have been developed to satisfy the IEEE Std. 519 harmonic limitation. However, these filters had been limited marketability due to cost and size problems. This study suggests the methods to reduce cost and size of the harmonic filter including topologies, besides we discussed simulation results of the power system with regard to the implementation and performance of the filters.

  • The effects of particle size on the surface properties of hydro-thermally synthesized barium titanate powders were investigated by means of particle size analysis, specific surface area, SEM, zeta potential and XPS. Particle sizes were measured by laser light scattering and are in the range of 150 to 1100nm. Zeta potential increased with increasing particle size and it was large minus value in the range of particle size from 500 to 900nm, which seems to be related with the dissolution of $Ba^{2+}$ ion in these particle sizes from the analysis of surface properties by XPS.

  • Submicron colloidal silica coated with ceria were prepared by mixing of silica and nano ceria particles and modified by hydrothermal reaction. The polishing efficiency of the ceria coated silica slurry was tested over oxide film on silicon wafer. By changing the polishing pressure in the range of $140{\sim}420g/cm^2$ with the ceria coated silica slurries in $100{\sim}300nm$, rates, WIWNU and friction force were measured. The removal rate was in the order of 200, 100, and 300 nm size silica coated with ceria. It was known that the smaller particle size gives the higher removal rate with higher contact area in Cu slurry. In the case of oxide film, the indentation volume as well as contact area gives effect on the removal rate depending on the size of abrasives. The indentation volume increase with the size of abrasive particles, which results to higher removal rate. The highest removal rate in 200 nm silica core coated with ceria is discussed as proper combination of indentation and contact area effect.

  • Recent cleaning technologies of mask in extremely ultraviolet semiconductor processes were reviewed, focused on newly developed issues such as particle size determination or hydrocarbon and tin contaminations. In detail, critical particle size was defined and proposed for mask cleaning where nanosized particles and its various shapes would result in surface atomic ratio increase vigorously. A new cleaning model also was proposed with amphoteric behavior of electrolytically ionized water which had already shown excellent particle removing efficiency. Having its non-equilibrium and amphoteric properties, electrolyzed ion water seemed to oxidize contaminant surface selectively in nano-scale and then to lift up oxidized ones from mask surface very effectively. This assumption should be further investigated in future in junction with hydrogen bonding and cluster of water molecules.

  • Using scaled models for an anatomical head model and a simple head model, we investigated the effects of head size on specific absorption rate characteristics for two mobile phones operating at 835 MHz and 1765 MHz. Our results showed that a larger head produced a higher localized SAR at 835 MHz. However, at 1765 MHz, the differences among the head models were insignificant since the superficial absorption was dominant over the effects of head shape and size. A larger head produced a lower whole-head averaged SAR at both frequencies.

  • Erdosteine, an expectorant, has been known to show a very poor flowability. Furthermore, high dosing amount (300mg/cap) and bulk density make it more difficult to fill in a capsule less than No. 0 size as bulk state. We have studied the possibility of dry granulation process in purpose of getting a better flowability and manufacturing efficiency. A roller compactor was introduced for this purpose and the applicability of laboratory result into commercial scale instrument was also experimented.Roller compacting process was very favorable to obtain the granules with good flowability and improved density profiles. • This paper presents a compact structure composed of an upper high-impedance transmission line, a middle extended parallel coupled line, and a pair of inter-coupled symmetrical stepped impedance stubs. Detailed investigation into this structure based on an equivalent circuit analysis reveals that this proposed structure exhibits a quasi-elliptic low-pass filtering response with three transmission zeros. Moreover, the positions of the three transmission zeros can be tuned and reallocated flexibly by choosing the proper circuit parameters. Finally, the design concept is validated through the design, fabrication, and measurement of two exemplary low-pass filters (LPFs) with one single unit and two cascaded asymmetric units. The measured results agree well with the simulated results. In addition, in the range of $1.42f_c$ to $7.03f_c$, the fabricated quasi-elliptic LPFs experimentally demonstrate a very wide upper-stopband of 20 dB using a compact size of only $0.0089{\lambda}_g{^2}$, where ${\lambda}_g$ is the guided wavelength of a $50{\Omega}$ transmission line at the central frequency.

  • Copper powders have been widely used in electrically conductive coatings, electrode materials et al. and are very prospective since they are cheaper than noble metal powders such as silver or palladium. In this study, copper powders for metal filler of EMI shielding have been prepared using a solvothermal process from $CuSO_4$, NaOH, Glucose, mixed solvent ($H_2O$: Ethanol) and hydrazine which was used as a reducing agent at various reaction conditions. The prepared copper powders showed finely dispersed spherical shape without agglomerate, uniform morphology, narrow size distribution, high purity and were about 400-700 nm in size. The prepared powders were characterized using XRD, SEM, TGA, XPS, particle size measurement and EMI shielding efficiency.
