This paper proposes a new face recognition technique in the dynamic link architecture which shows robustness against size variation and distortion. The face recognition technique in the dynamic link architecture so far was not appropriate for the recognition of various size of faces because of the fixed size of the graph and the fixed value of a of the Gabor filter not considering the size of the face. The proposed face recognition algorithm can represent the input facial image by a suitable size of labeled graph, and it can also adjust the dilation width and the height of the vibrating amplitude of the Gabor filter, thus face recognition in the dynamic link architecture is even applicable regardless of the size of the face.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the recognition and satisfaction of the lower body shapes of male college students. The subjects in this study were 178 male college students. The results were as follows: 1. The degree of recognition and satisfaction of girth items in lower part of the body scored average. Subjects tended to be dissatisfied with their height. 2. The degree of satisfaction of waist girth and weight was influenced by the real body size than the degree of recognition. And abdomen girth, hip girth, ankle girth, leg length, hight, crotch length were affected by the degree of recognition than the real body size. 3. Subjects were more satisfied with standard lower body type than with lean and obese ones.
In order to provide the basic data for creating the environment which can efficiently reflect prefer fit along with body size when selecting clothes size in the indirect purchasing environment, this study analyzed the difference of ready-made jacket part-specific fit preferred by fashion models in their twenties and female college students. This study was to analyze the impact of body size, recognition of body part-specific characteristics shape, body satisfaction on prefer fit of jacket. As for the difference of prefer fit depending on the body size, female college students preferred more loose fit than models. The difference according to recognition of body part-specific characteristics shape turned out to be significant for prefer fit depending on the degree of bend of neck, arm length, bend of back recognition and matching fit was found to be preferred as they recognize their body shape to be normal and the difference according to body satisfaction appeared to be significant in the terms of bend of back, hip width/protrusion, torso size/length, sleeve length, whole body shape and they turned out to prefer matching fit as they are satisfied with their body. As shown above, body size, recognition of body part-specific characteristics shape, especially body satisfaction have a great influence on prefer fit of jacket and therefore, if preparing for a size selection step according to body shape and satisfaction in the jacket size selection process, customers' satisfaction in jacket size may be improved and it is considered to be helpful for both consumers and sellers.
In this paper, we focused on the real time implementation of a speech recognition system with medium size of vocabulary considering its application to a mobile phone. First, we developed the PC based variable vocabulary word recognizer having the size of program memory and total acoustic models as small as possible. To reduce the memory size of acoustic models, linear discriminant analysis and phonetic tied mixture were applied in the feature selection process and training HMMs, respectively. In addition, state based Gaussian selection method with the real time cepstral normalization was used for reduction of computational load and robust recognition. Then, we verified the real-time operation of the implemented recognition system on the TMS320C6201 EVM board. The implemented recognition system uses memory size of about 610 kbytes including both program memory and data memory. The recognition rate was 95.86% for ETRI 445DB, and 96.4%, 97.92%, 87.04% for three kinds of name databases collected through the mobile phones.
In this paper, a system that can classify the objects in the image according to their sizes using the reference points is proposed. The object is studied with samples. The proposed system recognizes and classifies objects by the size in images acquired using a mobile phone camera. Conventional object recognition systems classify objects using only object size. As the size of the object varies depending on the distance, such systems have the disadvantage that an error may occurs if the image is not acquired with a certain distance. In order to overcome the limitation of the conventional object recognition system, the object recognition system proposed in this paper can classify the object regardless of the distance with comparing the size of the reference point by placing it at the upper left corner of the image.
This paper covers review and challenges in the area of speech recognition by taking into account different classes of recognition mode. The recognition mode can be either speaker independent or speaker dependant. Size of the vocabulary and the input mode are two crucial factors for a speech recognizer. The input mode refers to continuous or isolated speech recognition system and the vocabulary size can be small less than hundred words or large less than few thousands words. This varies according to system design and objectives.[2]. The organization of the paper is: first it covers various fundamental methods of speech recognition, then it takes into account various deficiencies in the existing systems and finally it discloses the various probable application areas.
In this paper, a new license plate recognition method using the morphological size distribution functions and color images is proposed. The proposed method consists of two steps. The first step is license plate extraction process using the plate color and step edge information in the license plate. The second step is the extraction of character feature vectors using the morphological size distribution functions and character recognition process using the MLP(multilayer perceptron). By the use of morphological size distributions functions, the error that may occur during the character region extraction process is lessened and the recognition performances are improved by the decrease of feature vector dimension.
This paper proposes a new method for the recognition of road surface marks and numbers. The proposed method designates a region of interest on the road surface without first detecting a lane. The road surface markings are extracted by location and size using a connection component analysis. Distortion due to the perspective effect is minimized by normalizing the size of the road markings. The road surface marking of the connected component is recognized by matching it with the stored road marking templates. The proposed method is implemented using C language in Raspberry Pi 4 system with a camera module for a real-time image processing. The system was fixedly installed in a moving vehicle, and it recorded a video like a vehicle black box. Each frame of the recorded video was extracted, and then the proposed method was tested. The results show that the proposed method is successful for the recognition of road surface marks and numbers.
This research aims at finding out situation on purchasing clothes for kids, size recognition and fitting to provide basic data in order to establish standard sizes for kids' clothes. A survey was conducted to 360 mothers who have children ranging from first to third grade in elementary school on clothes purchasing method, wearing situation, criteria in deciding size and fitting preference. In terms of data analysis, frequency, percentage, mean, $X^2$-test, ANOVA and Duncan-test were used via SPSS PC program. The result is as follows; 1. While the recognition on brand was high, the recognition on body size was low: as a result, it is believed that it would be effective to mark the weight along with the brand. 2. Many times, they would select one or two size bigger on all items and they would go for a regular or one that fits as far as filling is concerned showing that it is different from adult clothes. 3. As far as obese kids, they would choose based on the diameter, so the diameter item is right but they are too long in general. The length question should be given special attention when manufacturing clothes for obese kids.
This study was conducted to analyze the actual wearing conditions and body fit preferences of the middle-aged women's ready-to-wear lower body clothing. The aim was also to analyze lower body recognition, lower body satisfaction, fit preferences and size satisfaction according to age and degree of girth size. A questionnaire was developed and administered to 300 middle-aged women aged 34 to 59. Statistical tests such as descriptive analysis, crosstabs, and X²-tests were conducted to analyze the data and ascertain the differences between the ages. Lower body satisfaction and recognition were compared by T-test. Also, Anova was used to analyze lower body recognition, satisfaction, fit preferences, and size satisfaction according to age and degrees of girth size. The results indicated that women aged 50 to 59 were more dissatisfied with the ready-to-wear sizing system and because of their body shapes had changed, their need for a larger size range system had also increased. Moreover, the element that most affected their purchase of ready-to-wear lower body clothing was the design followed by the size. The women, especially of the ages 50 to 59, showed a tendency to he dissatisfied with their lower bodies and they recognized that their lower bodies had thickened compared to women aged 34 to 39 and 40 to 49. Analysis of body satisfaction, recognition, and fit preference according to girth size showed that the group of larger girth size recognized that their lower bodies were thicker and were more dissatisfied and preferred looser fittings than the groups of smaller women.
