Two-stage power factor correction (PFC) converter with a single PWM controller for universal input voltage (90-264V) is proposed. It consists of a power factor pre-regulator cascaded by a DC/DC converter as in a conventional two-stage approach. However, a single PWM controller is used as in a single-stage, single-switch PFC approach. The switch in the PFC part is synchronized with the switch in the DC/DC converter with a fixed switching frequency. Employing an adaptive delay scheme the switch in the PFC part is controlled to limit the energy storage capacitor voltage within a designed range for the optimum efficiency, and to reduce input current harmonic distortion. The experimental results obtained on a 200W (5V/40A) prototype PFC converter are given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control method.

In the free molecular flow range, the pumping performance of a turbomolecular pump has been predicted by calculation of the transmission probability which employs the integral method and the test particle Monte-Carlo method. Also, new approximate method combining the double stage solutions, so called double-approximation, is presented here. The calculated values of transmission probability for the single stage agree quantitatively with the previous known numerical results. For a six-stage pump, the Monte-Carlo method is employed to calculate the overall transmission probability for the entire set of blade rows. When the results of the approximate method combining the single stage solutions are compared with those of the Monte-Carlo method at dimensionless blade velocity ratio C=0.4, the previous known approximate method overestimates as much as 34% than does the Monte-Carlo method. But, the new approximate method gives more accurate results, whose relative error is 10% compared to the Monte-Carlo method, than does the previous approximate method.
This paper describes analysis and calculation of line frequency ripple current according to output capacitor value and effects of LED connection in the single stage flyback converter with high power factor. The low frequency output ripple current delivered from single stage converter has been analyzed in detail and the method evaluating parasitic resistance included in LED has been provided. In order to verify the equation derived in this paper, the single stage flyback converter has been designed with constant output current regulation with DCM operation. Experiments were conducted with different LED load structures to analyze the effect of LED parasitic resistance on output ripple current. As test results, the calculation can provide guide line to select capacitor values depending on output ripple current and LED characteristics.

A throughflow analysis program for axial flow turbines is constructed, which can handle not only the two-dimensional multi-streamline (streamline curvature) method but also the one-dimensional mean line method. Calculations are performed for single stage and multi-stage axial flowturbines. For a wide operating range, the performance and flow field calculated by the present streamline curvature method are close enough to the test data. It is also revealed for the single stage turbine that the present analysis leads to far better correspondence with the experiment than other researchers" throughflow analyses. A special focus is put on the comparison of the results between the streamline curvature analysis and the mean line analysis. It is found that the mean line analysis can not predict the performance for highly off-designed conditions as accurately as the streamline curvature method, which shows the importance of considering the spanwise variation of loss and flow.
In this paper, an improved passive snubber is investigated in a single-phase single-stage full-bridge boost power factor correction (PFC) converter, by which the voltage spike across primary side of the power transformer can be suppressed and the absorbed energy can be transferred to the output side. When compared with the basic passive snubber, the two single-inductors are replaced by a coupled-inductor in the improved snubber. As a result, synchronous resonances in the snubber can be achieved, which can avoid the unbalance of the voltage and current in the snubber. The operational principle of the improved passive snubber is analyzed in detail based on a single-phase PFC converter, and the design considerations of both the snubber and the coupled-inductor are given. Finally, a laboratory-made prototype is built, and the experimental results verify the feasibility of the proposed method and the validity of the theoretical analysis and design method.
This study presents the findings of the experiments that were conducted on single- and multi-stage solvent extractors using the stimulus-response method, with the am of identifying flow characteristics of the material inside the mixer-settler-type extractor. The results of this study show that the response characteristics of a single-stage mixer is the same as that of a completely stirred tank reactor (CSTR), and that the lag time of a mixer-settler-type extractor increases with the number of its extraction stages. The experimental data for the single- and multiple-stage extractors were analyzed using K-RTD, a response analysis program, to obtain a retention time distribution (RTD) model of one-stage and four-stage extractors. The correlation coefficient between the calculated values and the experimental data was 0.963 for the one-stage extractor and 0.995 for the four-stage extractor, showing quite a good correlation.

Doors that are opened and closed when entering or exiting a general building are connected to the door frame and open and close. They are equipped with door locking devices of various structures, and are either locked to the door frame for the closing operation or released from the door frame for the opening and closing operation. Here, a single-stage door binding device having a door latch that is independently disposed at the center of one axis of the door is commonly used. On the other hand, if the size of the door is over a certain size or if the door is medium to large, the opening and closing operation may not be performed smoothly with only a single stage binder, or the closing state may not be achieved stably during the closing operation. In particular, in the case of the single-stage binding device provided in medium to large fire doors, the door is fixed to the door frame unstable, causing fatal errors in the fire prevention function of the fire door. Accordingly, in order to fundamentally solve these problems, we researched and developed a three-stage door binding machine that combines a top and bottom fastening structure with a single-stage fastening structure. This 3-stage door binder not only has the fire resistance performance of a fire door, but also has a T-shaped terminal in its fastening method, so if you eliminate the upper and lower fastening, it is a 1-stage binder like a regular product, but if you remove the door latch of the 1st-stage binder, it functions as an upper and lower 2-stage binder and forms a single mold. We researched and developed a three-stage door binder that can manufacture and produce three products at the same time, satisfying both product performance and price.

In this study, actuator, sensor, guide, power transmission element and control method are considered for ultra-precision positioning apparatus. Through previous process, single plane X-Y stage with ultra-precision positioning is manufactured. Global stage for the purpose of materialization with robust system, is combined by using AC servo motor and ball screw and rolling guide. And ultra-precision positioning system is developed by micro stage with elastic hinge type and piezo element. global servo and micro servo for the purpose of materialization positioning accuracy with nm(nanometer) are controlled simultaneously by using incremental encoder and laser interferometer as displacement measurement sensor. Through previous process, ultra-precision positioning system (100mm stroke and ${\pm}$ 10nm positioning accuracy) with single plane X-Y stage are materialized.
Recently, regulation for THD(Total Harmonic Distortion) such as IEC 61000-3-2, IEEE 519 is being reinforced about a product which directly connects to AC line in order to prevent distortion of common power source in electronic equipment and electrical machinery. In order to satisfy these regulations, conventional circuits were used two-stage structure attached power factor correction circuit at ahead of converter but this method complicate the circuit and then a number of element increases thereupon the cost of production rises. In this paper, we propose a high efficiency single-stage 300W PFC flyback converter, that improved power factor and efficiency than conventional two-stage power module.
