A Design of Programmable Dual Slope A/D Converter by Single Chip Microprocessor (싱글칩 마이크로프로세서에 의한 프로그래머블 2중 적분형 A/D 변환기의 개발)

  • Offset voltage and drift characteristics of operational amplifier are critical factor to precision AID conversion System. In this study, a method is suggested to design the programmable A/D conversion system which has high resolution and low drift characteristics. First, hardware was designed to reduce the offset voltage of integrator and comparator, and analog switches are connected to reduce the drift characteristics of operational amplifier. And then, a calibration software technique was performed to obtain the stable data from A/D converter. The main advantage of our method is high precision A/D converter can be constructed with low cost and high confidence. Therefore proposed method is expected to be used in the industrial field where a high precision measurement is required.

  • Recently the performance of CO2 arc welding machine has been advanced significantly through the adoption of inverter circuit topology which made it possible to control the waveform of welding current and thus to suppress the spatter generation. However, the optimum waveform is still uncertain. As a first step for figuring out the promising waveforms, this study was performed to set-up the experimental system for studying the effect of waveform variables. The overal system is controlled digital controller using single chip microprocessor of 80C196KC. As a result of performance test of this system, it was demonstrated all of the waveform variables could be set individually and the generated spatter is reduced compare to conventional inverter arc welding machine.

  • The conventional APF(Active Power Filter) system performs only function which is compensated for source harmonic by injecting harmonic compensation current as well as reactive power component by PWM. This paper presents a new APF which provides the combined functions of VC(Voltage Compensator) and conventional APF, because the structure of APF is similar to stand- alone UPS in parallel type. Single-chip microprocessor plays an important role in controlling each function. Simulation obtained from ACSL are shown to verify multi-functions of new APP.

  • In this paepr, we present a soft switching PWM inverter as reducing switching loss and stress at high power application. The PWM inverter is designed by space voltage about 2$\sqrt{3}$ times (15%) than conventional SPWM method. To reduce switching loss and stress. The DC link requires a capacitor, an inductor and two additional switches. Therefore proposed inverter performs trun PWM operation under the soft switching condition. As a result of soft switching we can reduce switching loss and ensure stability of switching devices. For approach to real time, control system is realized by 8 bit single-chip microprocessor. Therefore, we can construct system is with simplified volumn and structure by eliminating carrier wave and referrence wave generator of conventional SPWM method.

  • This paper presents a new method to obtain more stable and precise A/D conversion for remote sensing use. Hardware is designed to compensate offset voltage and drift & temperature characteristics, as well as to perform dual slop A/D converter by using single chip microprocessor. Serial communication program which is based on ASCII code commands is also developed to add initial setup & calibration functions as well as to perform A/D data communication. Proposed method will give a good applications to the industrial field where a high precision remote sensing is required.

  • In this study, a method is suggested to design the A/D conversion system which has high resolution to convert load cell signal. First, hardware was designed to reduce the offset voltage of integrator and comparator. And then, a calibration software technique was performed to obtain the stable data from A/D converter. The optimal parameters of each elements in the circuits was selected using the SPICE simulation. The main advantage of our method is high precision A/D converter can be constructed with low cost and high confidence. Therefore proposed method is expected to be used in the industrial field where a high precision measurement is required.

  • Continuing improvement of microprocessor performance involves in the devece size. This allow greater device speed, an increase in device packing density, and an increase in the number of functions that can reside on a single chip.   • This paper describes the whole development phase for the underwater vehicle actuating system with high hydroload torque disturbance. This includes requirement analysis, system modeling, control algorithm design, real time implementation, test and performance evaluations. As for driving control algorithms, fuzzy logic, variable structure and PD(Proportional-Differential) algorithm were designed and implemented on board controller using a single chip microprocessor. Intel 8797. And test and performance evaluation is carried out both single test and wystem integration test. We could confirm the basic performance of actuating system through the single test and gereral developing work of any actuating systems was finished with a single performance test of actuating system without system integration test. But, we suggested that system integration test be needed. System integration test is carried out using G/C HILS(Guidance and Control Hardware-In-the -Loop Simulation) which is constituted flight motion simulator, load simulator, real time host computer and the related subsystems such as inertial navigation system, power supply system and Guidance and Control Computer etc.. The most important practical contribution of this paper is that full system characteristics such as minimal control effort, enhancement of guidance and autopilot performance by the actuating system using G/C HILS technique are investigated. Through full running G/C HILS, in spite of the passing to single tests, some control algorithm resulted in failure as to stability of full system and system time frame.

A Study on Extendable Instruction Set Computer 32 bit Microprocessor (확장 명령어 32비트 마이크로 프로세서에 관한 연구)

  • The data transfer width between the mocroprocessor and the memory comes to a critical part that limits system performance since the data transfer width has been as it was while the performance of a microprocessor is getting higher due to its continuous development in speed. And it is important that the memory should be in small size for the reduction of embedded microprocessor's price which is integrated on a single chip with the memory and IO circuit. In this paper, a mocroprocessor tentatively named as Extendable Instruction Set Computer(EISC) is proposed as the high code density 32 bit mocroprocessor architecture. The 32 bit EISC has 16 general purpose registers and 16 bit fixed length instruction which has the short length offset and small immediate operand. By using and extend register and extend flag, the offset and immediate operand could be extended. The proposed 32 bit EISC is implemented with an FPGA and all of its functions have been tested and verified at 1.8432MHz. And the cross assembler, the cross C/C++ compiler and the instruction simulator of the 32 bit EISC shows 140-220% and 120-140% higher code density than RISC and CISC respectively, which is much higher than any other traditional architectures. As a consequence, the EISC is suitable for the next generation computer architecture since it requires less data transfer width compared to any other ones. And its lower memory requirement will embedded microprocessor more useful.

  • In this paper, a photovoltaic system is designed with a step up chopper and single phase PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) voltage source inverter. Where proposed Synchronous signal and control signal was processed by one-chip microprocessor for stable modulation. The step up chopper operates in continuous mode by adjusting the duty ratio so that the photovoltaic system tracks the maximum power point of solar cell without any influence on the variation of insolation and temperature because solar cell has typical voltage and current dropping character. The single phase PWM voltage source the inverter using inverter consists of complex type of electric power converter to compensate for the defect, that is, solar cell cannot be developed continuously by connecting with the source of electric power for ordinary use. It can cause the effect of saving electric power. from 10 to 20[%]. The single phase PWM voltage source inverter operates in situation that its output voltage is in same phase with the utility voltage. In order to enhance the efficiency of photovoltaic cells, photovoltaic positioning system using sensor and microprocessor was design so that the fixed type of photovoltaic cells and photovoltaic positioning system were compared. In result, photovoltaic positioning system can improved 5% than fixed type of photovoltaic cells. In addition, I connected extra power to the system through operating the system voltage and inverter power in a synchronized way by extracting the system voltage so that the phase of the system and the phase of single-phase inverter of PWM voltage type can be synchronized. And, It controlled in order to provide stable pier to the load and the system through maintaining high lurer factor and low output power of harmonics.
