  • A prerequisite for deriving the abundance estimates from acoustic surveys for commercially important fish species is the identification of target strength measurements for selected fish species. In relation to these needs, the goal of this study was to construct a data bank for converting the acoustic measurements of target strength to biological estimates of fish length and to simultaneously obtain the target strength-fish length relationship. Laboratory measurements of target strength on 15 commercially important fish species were carried out at five frequencies of 50, 70, 75, 120 and 200 kHz by single and split beam methods under the controlled conditions of the fresh and the sea water tanks with the 389 samples of dead and live fishes. The target strength pattern on individual fish of each species was measured as a function of tilt angle, ranging from $-45^{\circ}$ (head down aspect) to $+45^{\circ}$ (head up aspect) in $0.2^{\circ}$ intervals, and the averaged target strength was estimated by assuming the tilt angle distribution as N $(-5.0^{\circ},\;15.0^{\circ})$. The TS to fish length relationship for each species was independently derived by a least-squares fitting procedure. Also, a linear regression analysis for all species was performed to reduce the data to a set of empirical equations showing the variation of target strength to a fish length, wavelength and fish species. For four of the frequencies (50, 75, 120 and 200 kHz), an empirical model for fish target strength (TS, dB) averaged over the dorsal sapect of 602 fishes of 10 species and which spans the fish length (L, m) to wavelength (\Lambda,\;m)$ ratio between 5 and 73 was derived: $TS=19.44\;Log(L)+0.56\;Log(\Lambda)-30.9,\;(r^2=0.53)$.

  • In reality, distribution planning for a supply chain is established using a certain probabilistic distribution estimated by forecasting. However, in general, the demands used for an actual distribution planning are of deterministic value, a single value for each of periods. Because of this reason the final result of a planning has to be a single value for each period. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to estimate a single value due to the inherent uncertainty in the probabilistic distribution of customer demand. The issue addressed in this paper is the selection of single demand value among of the distributed demand estimations for a period to be used in the distribution planning. This paper proposes an efficient demand selection scheme for minimizing total inventory costs while satisfying target service level under the various experimental conditions.

  • In this paper, we propose a robust method which can detect and track a high-speed small approaching target in a cluttered environment for Korean Active Protection System. The proposed method uses a temporal and spatial filter, tracking filter to detect and track a single target in consecutive order. And it is comprised of a candidate target detection step, a prior target selection step and a target tracking. Field tests on real infrared image sequences show that the proposed method could stably track a high speed and small target in complex background and target occlusion.

  • Since the tensegrity structure is flexible and variable, the study on the mobility to the tensegrity has been conducted. However, it is difficult to apply the tensegrity to the architecture field due to several limits. This paper describes the methodology for the analysis of the shape change process of single prism tensegrity structure as an initial study. To apply the tensegrity structure to the architectural field, the assemblage and mathematical formulation procedures of the single prism tensegrity structures are carried out. And single prism tensegrity are presented to the computational strategies for simulate the shape change of those structures. Next, the investigation of structural behaviors through various cases of target displacements is described. Also, the summary of these methods in algorithms is illustrated. As a result it is confirmed that the single prism tensegrity structure model converges 99% on average to a given target node by using the proposed algorithm. Therefore, it is confirmed that the proposed algorithm and program are suitable for shape change analysis of single prism tensegrity structure model.

  • Nitzberg has analyzed the detection performance of the clutter map constant false alarm rate (CFAR) detector using single pulse. In this paper, we extend the detection analysis to the clutter map CFAR detector that employs M-pulse noncoherent integration. Detection and false alarm probabilities for Swerling target models are derived. The analytical results show that the larger the number of integrated pulses M, the higher the detection probability. On the other hand, the analytical results for Swerling target models show that the detection performance of the completely decorrelated target signal is better than that of the completely correlated target.

  • Tracking a target of versatile maneuver recently demands a stable adaptation of tracker, and the multiple model techniques are being developed because of its ability to produce useful information of target maneuver. This paper presents the way to apply the multiple model method in a moving-target and moving-platform scenario, and the estimation and prediction results better than those of single Kalman filter.

  • In a multi-sensor target tracking systems, the local sensors have the role of tracking the target and transferring the measurements to the fusion center. The measurements from the same target can arrive out of sequence called, the out-of-sequence measurements(OOSMs). The OOSM can arise in a form of single-lag or multi-lag throughout the transfer at the fusion center. The recursive retrodiction step was proposed to update the current state estimates with the multi-lag OOSM from the several previous papers. The real world has the possible situations that the maneuvering target informations can arrive at the fusion center with the random clutter in the possible OOSMs. In this paper, we incorporate the IMM-MPDA(Interacting Multiple Model - Most Probable Data Association) into the multi-lag OOSM update. The performance of the IMM-MPDA filter with multi-lag OOSM update is analyzed for the various clutter densities, OOSM lag numbers, and target maneuvering indexes. Simulation results show that IMM-MPDA is sufficient to be used in out of sequence environment and it is necessary to correct the current state estimates with OOSM except a very old OOSM.

  • This study was aim to compare the phonological error patterns and PCC(Percentage of Correct Consonants) derived from the single word and spontaneous speech contexts of the speech sound disorders with unknown origin(SSD). The present study suggest that the development phonological error patterns and non-developmental error patterns of the target children, in according to speech context. The subjects were 15 children with SSD up to the age of 5 from 3 years of age. This research use 37 words of APAC(Assessment of Phonology & Articulation for Children) in the single word context and 100 eojeol in the spontaneous speech context. There was no difference of PCC between the single word and the spontaneous speech contexts. Significantly different developmental phonological error patterns between the single word and the spontaneous speech contexts were syllable deletion, word-medial onset deletion, liquid deletion, gliding, affrication, fricative other error, tensing, regressive assimilation. Significantly different non-developmental phonological error patterns were backing, addtion of phoneme, aspirating. The study showed that there was no difference of PCC between elicited single word and spontaneous conversational context. And there were some different phonological error patterns derived from the two contexts of the speech sound disorders. The more important interventions target is the error patterns of the spontaneous speech contexts for the immediate generalization and rising overall intelligibility.

  • We have measured DNA translocation through a nanocapillary functionalized with probe DNA. These DNA-functionalized nanocapillaries selectively facilitate the translocation of target ssDNAs that are complementary to the probe ssDNAs. In addition, translocation of the complementary target ssDNA exhibits two tendencies to translocation speed, such as fast and slow translocation, whereas that of non-complementary target ssDNA yields only one tendency, fast translocation. These observations suggest that the complementary and non-complementary target ssDNAs may be discriminated due to different interaction strengths between target and probe ssDNAs. The temperature dependence measurements of DNA translocation show that slow translocation events are ascribed to the complementary interaction between probe and target ssDNA. This confirms that their dwell time is dependent on the base-pair binding strength. These results demonstrate that mere single-base different target DNA can be selectively detectable by using the probe DNA-functionalized nanocapillaries.

  • This paper presents a multiple target tracking system using Normalized Rayleigh likelihood of amplitude information of target. Although many studies of Radar systems using amplitude information have been studied, they are focused on single target tracking. This paper proposes the multiple target tracking using amplitude information as well as kinematic information from Radar sensor. The amplitude information are applied in generating the association probability of joint probabilistic data association(JPDA) algorithm through the normalized Rayleigh likelihood. It is verified that the proposed system can enhance the track maintenance and tracking accuracy, especially, in the target crossing case.
