In this study, unwed mothers residing in nine residental facilities were surveyed by questionnaires. Those facilities were selected from national welfare facilities officially registered for single-parent families in 2011. The selected facilities were two places in Seoul, six places in Gyeonggi Province and one place in Chungcheong Province. The surveyed data were analyzed by statistical methods such as frequency, percentage, one way ANOVA, chi-square test and t-test, binary logistic regression using SPSS ver.17.0 program. As a result, their decision of adoption or self-nurture on their child was significantly affected by various factors. Among pregnancy-related factors, pregnancy recognition time was significantly different between two groups. Among personal factors, their age and cognition of parental role were important factors to differentiate two groups. In the analysis related with social resources, the self-nurture group had significantly higher experience and satisfaction on welfare service and lodging & boarding service compared to those of the adoption-choice group.

Today, the Korean society is experiencing an increase in serious problems, such as child abuse, unmarried mothers, single mothers, which cannot be overlooked as simply trivial family matters. The increase in these problems is caused by the rapid change that has taken place within our society, which has emasculated the power of our traditional values and behavior patterns to cope with contemporary life styles. Premarital Preparation Education is starting to gain attention as a preventive measure that can overcome this serious family crisis. Although the importance of the Premarital Preparation Education program cannot be overemphasized, there are only few cases where engaged couples and unmarried men and women are exposed to this type of program and actually experience its benefits. In other words, there is an urgent need to revitalize and increase the effects of the Premarital Preparation Education Program. This research was conducted in order to find a way to revitalize and to increase the effects of the program, so that more and more people can participate and receive benefits from it. First, we have analyzed the program's contents and the current condition on how the program is actually conducted. Then we have compared real case examples of the program and analyzed the current situation and its problems.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of young children's behavioral inhibition on self-determination, examining the sequential mediating effects of mothers' parenting anxiety and autonomy support. Methods: Participants in this study were 225 mothers with children aged 6 years. An online survey was conducted, and SPSS Statistics 23.0 was used for basic analysis. The research model used the Process Macro 4.0 program. Results: The higher the level of behavioral inhibition, the lower the child's self-determination. Furthermore, a mediating effect was confirmed when parenting anxiety was added. However, in the single mediation model and the sequential mediation model in which autonomy support was added, the direct effects of behavioral inhibition temperament and parenting anxiety on self-determination disappeared. As a result, behavioral inhibition characteristics were found to have an indirect effect on self-determination through the sequential mediating effects of mother's parenting anxiety and autonomy support. Conclusion/Implications: If a mother with a child with a behaviorally inhibited temperament properly handles the negative emotions experienced during parenting based on her understanding of the child and supports the child to have a high degree of autonomy, she can enhance the child's right to self-determination.
To know the characteristics of the unmarried mother. We need to investigate what kind of circumstances the unmarried mother comes from and under which conditions created her situation. This investigation's purpose is to provide general information on how to prevent this situation. There are many unmarried mothers registered in support groups for single mothers in A City. We surveyed 67 single mothers registered from Nov. 1 '96 - April 30 '97. The questions of the survey asked for general characteristics, family background, friendship, attitude and knowledge toward sex and the relationship with the baby's father. A family resilience approach aims to identify and fortify key interactional processes that enable families to withstand and rebound from disruptive life challenges. Walsh(1998) described family belief systems, organizational patterns, and communication processes as the three main keys of family resilience. The purpose of this study was to identify the three key factors of family resilience in case of divorced female single-parent families in Korea. The study participants were seven divorced mothers who were living in the institutional facility for female single-parent families. Using a qualitative approach, in-depth interviews were audiotaped and transcribed verbatim for analysis. The study findings were as follows. First, the participants showed positive thinking rather than fear about the adversity induced by the divorce. They also showed the senses of competence, control, and self-esteem. However, the senses of transcendence and spirituality were barely evident. Second, emotional and economic supports from parents, brothers and sisters, and community networks (i.e., mother-child protection institution, healthy family support center) enhanced the family resilience of the participants. Third, the participants showed clear communication, open emotional expression, and shared decision making. This study suggests that more counseling services and parent education be provided by healthy family support center and institutional facilities as important family resilience factors for divorced female single-parent families who are below the poverty line.
This study attempted to achieve an understanding of how ever-single women in their 40s and 50s deconstructed and restructured on marriage and family. For this aim, this study adopted a qualitative method. The participants were 13 single women in their 40s and 50s who had never been married. In-depth individual interviews were carried out, focusing on ever-single women's views about marriage and family. The result of theme analysis indicated that the participants considered marriage as an unfavorable lifestyle for women. The participants could be split into two types based on their perspectives on marriage. The first type had a universal concept of marriage. In other words, they believed that when they growup, they should be married women. The other type had a negative concept of marriage because of their parents'unhappy marriage. Despite their view of marriage, all of the participants recognized marriage as a patriarchal structure. Also, they had a strong sense of responsibility to their original families. They had a broad definition of family, so they considered their parents, siblings, and siblings' family members as their family. In addition, they interacted with their families, especially their mothers, who did not have control over their lives but supported them and showed interest in their lives. Like this, the participants maintained their views of married life and family without changing after their single status and had close relationships with their family members.
This study was a qualitative case study of mother's experiences chidult in South Korea focusing on North Korean single mom defector with children in their 20s. The purpose of the present study was to explores the mother's experiences of North Korean single mom defector without their spouses. Semi-structured in-depth interviews were arranged with 3 North Korean refugee mothers without their spouses who met the criteria for the present research purpose. As a result of the analysis, the mother's experiences into five main clusters of themes which may be labeled as (1) The presence of more meaningful children in a strange land, (2) Everyday life, such as the superwoman, (3) The rigor of a care to too cumbersome, (4) Gratitude and value discovery in our daily lives, (5) To find new life. In all there are ten sub categories to consider. On the basis of these results, we presented some conclusions on the mother's experiences of North Korean single mom defector. We also presented some implications of these results on welfare services and future research.
This study examines the effects of single mother's economic stress in social competence of children perceived by parents and whether mother-child relationship satisfaction mediate in the process. The results of analysis of the path through the structural equation modeling are as follows: First, single mother's economic stress has negative effects on mother-child relationship satisfaction. Second, mother-child relationship satisfaction has positive effects on social competence of children. It was proved that mother-child relationship satisfaction exerted as mediating variables. Therefore, existent mother-child relationship satisfaction have full mediated effects on the relationship between economic stress and social competence of children. Based on the findings, practice implications to improve social competence of single mothers' children were discussed.

The study is about the effect of tetracycline-HCl on the amelogenesis and the dentinogenesis of the albino rats by means of histochemistry and fluorescence microscopy. Females in oestrus were mated overnight and examined the next morning for evidence of copulation. The mothers were intraperitonealy injected with a single dose of tetracycline-HCl from the eighth to tenth day of gestation. The heads of new born rats were fixed in Carnoy's solution and 10% formalin solution. The staining methods were alizarin red S stain, PAS reaction, colloidal iron reaction, Morin's stain and hematoxylin-eosin stain, The results were as follows: 1. By the single injection of tetracycline, the matrix formation of enamel and dentin were disturbed, and the shape and arrangement of ameloblast and odontoblast were distorted. 2. It seemed that, with the higher dose of tetracycline, the positive materials of PAS reaction were increased in the disturbed enamel and dentin matrix, but those of alizarin red S stain and colloidal iron reaction were decreased. 3. The fluorescence intensity in the disturbed enamel and dentin matrix were higher than the other areas and appeared to increase gradually with the higher dose of tetracycline.
