Single crystal and polycrystalline Si thin films were doped with phosphorus by a 2-zone diffusion method to develop the low-resistivity polycrystalline Si electrode for a hemispherical grain. Solid phosphorus source was used in order to achieve uniformly and highly doped surface region of polycrystalline Si films having rough surface morphology. In case of 2-zone diffusion method, it is proved that the heavy doping near the surface area can be achieved even at a relatively low temperature. SIMS analysis revealed that phosphorus doping concentration in case of using solid P as a doping source was about 50 times as that of phosphine source at 750$^{\circ}C$. Also, ASR analysis revealed that the carrier concentration was about 50 times as that of phosphine. In order to evaluate the electrical characteristics of doped polycrystalline Si films for semiconductor devices, MOS capacitors were fabricated to measure capacitance of polycrystalline Si films. In ${\pm}$2 V measuring condition, Si films, doped with solid source, have 8% higher $C_{min}$ than that of unadditional doped Si films and 3% higher $C_{min}$ than that of Si films doped with $PH_3$ source. The leakage current of these films was a few fA/${\mu}m^2$. As a result, a 2-zone diffusion method is suggested as an effective method to achieve highly doped polycrystalline Si films even at low temperature.
Two-dimensional (2D) niobate-based nanosheets have attracted attention as high-k dielectric materials. We synthesized strontiumsubstituted calcium niobate ($Ca_{0.8}Sr_{1.2}Nb_3O_{10}$) nanosheets by a two-step cation exchange process from $KCa_{0.8}Sr_{1.2}Nb_3O_{10}$ ceramic. The $K^+$ ions were exchanged with $H^+$ ions, and then H+ ions were exchanged with tetrabutylammonium ($TBA^+$) cations. The $Ca_{0.8}Sr_{1.2}Nb_3O_{10}$ nanosheets were then exfoliated, decreasing the electrostatic interaction between each niobate layer. Furthermore, $Ca_2Nb_3O_{10}$ nanosheets were synthesized in same process for comparison. Each exfoliated nanosheet shows a single-crystal phase and has a lateral size of over 100 nm. The nanosheets were deposited on a $Pt/Ti/SiO_2/Si$ substrate by the electrophoretic deposition (EPD) method at 40 V, followed by ultraviolet irradiation of the films in order to remove the remaining $TBA^+$ ions. The $Ca_{0.8}Sr_{1.2}Nb_3O_{10}$ thin film exhibited twice the dielectric permittivity (~60) and lower dielectric loss than $Ca_2Nb_3O_{10}$ thin films.

The chemisorption effect of CO on the Ni/Cu(001) surface was investigated using LEED(Low Energy Electron Diffraction) and EELS(Electron Energy Loss Spectrscopy0 under the UHV conditions. after mounting the Cu(001) single crystal in the UHV chamber (base pressure 1$\times$10-10Torr), a clean surface was obtained after a few cycles of repeated Ar+ ion sputtering and annealing at about 40$0^{\circ}C$. The epitaxial thin Ni films were formed on the Cu(001) by evaporation from 99.999% Ni block. The pseudomorphic growth and the orderness of the thin Ni films were monitored by c(2$^{\circ}C$2) LEED pattern. CO adlayers on Ni epitaxial thin films were prepared by dosing pure CO has through a leak valve. After CO adsorpton at room temperature, two pairs of peaks were observed by EELS, whose relative intensities are changed as the film thickness is varied and time is elapsed. These two pair of peaks are likely related to different bonding sites (-top and bridge sites) of C-Ni as well as C-O vibration. Experimental results and qualitative interpretation of the spectra wille be discussed. The possibility of using EELS in combination with probe species (CO) to investigate the nature of thin film growth is mentioned. We will report the experimental result of O2 dosage on Ni film and interaction of CO and O2.
The hexagonal $HoMn_{1-x}-Fe_xO_3$(x=0.00, 0.05) thin films were prepared using pulsed laser deposition(PLD) method on $Pt/Ti/SiO_2/Si$ substrate. The microstructure and magnetic properties have been studied by x-ray diffraction(XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFH), scanning electron microscope(SEM:), x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), and conversion electron $M\"{o}ssbauer$ spectroscopy(CEMS). From the analysis of the x-ray diffraction patterns, the crystal structure for all films was found to be a hexagonal($P6_3cm$), which was preferentially grown along(110) direction. The lattice constant $c_0$ of the film with x=0.05 was close to that of single crystal, whereas lattice constant $a_0$ with respect to single crystal shows a slight decrease. This difference of lattice parameters between film and single crystal was caused by the lattice mismatch between the film and $Pt/Ti/SiO_2/Si$ substrate. Conversion electron $M\"{o}ssbauer$ spectrum of $HoMn_{0.95}Fe_{0.05}O_3$ thin film shows an asymmetry doublet absorption ratio at room temperature, which is due to the oriented direction of crystallographic domains. This is corresponding with analysis of x-ray diffraction. The quadrupole splitting(${\Delta}E_Q$) at room temperature is found to be $1.62{\pm}0.01mm/s$. This large ${\Delta}E_Q$ was caused by asymmetry environment surrounding Fe ion.
Nano-crystalline hydroxyapatite (HAp) films were formed at the Ti surface by a single-step microarc oxidation (MAO), and HAp-zirconia composite (HZC) films were obtained by subsequent chemical vapor deposition (CVD) of zirconia onto the HAp. Through the CVD process, zero- and one-dimensional zirconia nanostructures having tetragonal crystallinity (t-ZrO2) were uniformly distributed and well incorporated into the HAp crystal matrix to form nanoscale composites. In particular, (t-$ZrO_2$) was synthesized at a very low temperature. The HZC films did not show secondary phases such as tricalcium phosphate (TCP) and tetracalcium phosphate (TTCP) at relatively high temperatures. The most likely mechanism for the formation of the t-$ZrO_2$ and the pure HAp at the low processing temperature was proposed to be the diffusion of $Ca^{2+}$ ions. The HZC films showed increasing micro-Vickers hardness values with increases in the t-$ZrO_2$ content. The morphological features and phase compositions of the HZC films showed strong dependence on the time and temperature of the CVD process. Furthermore, they showed enhanced cell proliferation compared to the $TiO_2$ and HAp films most likely due to the surface structure change.

O- and Zn-polar ZnO films were grown by DC magnetron sputtering. Growth of high-quality, single-crystal ZnO thin films were confirmed by XRD and pole figure analysis. O-polar ZnO was grown on an $Al_2O_3$ substrate, which was confirmed by a slow growth rate (378 nm/hr), a fast etching rate (59 nm/min), and by the hillocks on the surface after etching. Zn-polar ZnO was grown on a GaN/$Al_2O_3$ substrate, which was confirmed by a fast growth rate (550 nm/hr), a slow etching rate (28 nm/min), and by pits on the surface after etching. Results from the present study show that it is possible to use DC-sputtering to grow ZnO film with the same polarity as other epitaxial growth methods.

To establish the deposition condition of YBCO thin film on MgO single crystal substrates, processing parameters of deposition temperature, chemical composition and oxygen partial pressure were controlled. When using a Ba-deficient composition of YB $a_{1.8}$$Cu_3$$O_{x}$, non-superconducting phase like CuO, $CuYO_2$ were formed, but BaCu02 was formed together with Yl23 phase when the starting composition was Ba-rich ($YBa_{2.3}$$Cu_3$$O_{x}$). The epitaxially grown Yl23 phase was formed at 760-$810^{\circ}C$ and $P_{O2}$=0.29-0.91 Torr.r.r.r.
We have fabricated the direct-coupled planar type 1st-order SQUID gradiometers. The gradiometer consists of moats or slots in SQUID loop. It is made by YBa$_2Cu_3O_7$ thin films using pulsed laser deposition method on SrTiO$_3$ single crystal and bi-crystal substrates. We have studied the effects of slots and moats in SQUID loop by measuring the voltage modulation signals under uniform field and 1st-order gradient, and the noise properties under non-shielded environment.

$Er^{3+}$ doped $NdF_{3}$ single crystalline thin films with smooth, microcrack-free, and high-crystalline quality were grown on $CaF_{2}(111)$ substrate at $500^{\circ}C$by molecular beem epitaxy(MBE). The relation-ship between subcell and supercell showing the reconstructed $3^{1/2} \times 3^{1/2}$ structure was studied by reflection high-energy electron diffraction(RHEED) investigation. The film surface and the growth mode were examined in studied by RHEED patterns and atomic force microscope(AFM) images ex situ. The crystallinity of film and the lattice mismatch between $NdF_{3}Er}^{3+}(0002)$ film and $CaF_{2}(111)$ substrate depending in the $Er^{3+}$ concentration were investigated by X-ray rocking curve analysis.
$BiFeO_3/Pb(Zr_{0.52}Ti_{0.48})O_3$(BFO/PZT) multilayer thin films have been prepared on a Pt/Ti/$SiO_2$/Si(100) substrate by chemical solution deposition. BFO single layer, BFO/PZT bilayer and multilayer thin films were studied for comparison. X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the crystal structure of all films was multi-orientated perovskite phase without amorphous and impurity phase. The leakage current density at 500 kV/cm was reduced by approximately four and five orders of magnitude by bilayer and multilayer structure films, compared with BFO single layer film. The low leakage current density leads to saturated P-E hysteresis loops of bilayer and multilayer films. In BFO/PZT multlayer film, saturated remanent polarization of $44.3{\mu}C/cm^2$ was obtained at room temperature at 1 kHz with the coercive field($2E_c$) of 681.4 kV/cm.
