A gas chromatographic determination of dienestrol in dienestrol cream has been studied. Dienestrol cream was dissolved in pyridine and silylation was done by using N, O-bis (trimethylsilyl) trifluoroacetamide. The derivative was injected into 3% silicone OV-17 column for chromatographic estimation. The dienestrol peak was found to be well separated from the other components of the cream. The detection limit was obtained to be $5.6{\times}10^{11}$ mol of dienestrol for this method. As there is no need for prior separation procedure, this experiment is extremely simple and less time consuming as compared to the conventional methods for estimation of dienestrol in cream.

A preconditioned numerical method for gas-liquid two-phase flows is applied to solve cavitating flow. The present method employs a finite-difference dual time-stepping integration procedure and the MUSCLTVD scheme. A homogeneous equilibrium cavitation model is used. The present density-based numerical method permits simple treatment of the whole gas-liquid two-phase flow field, including wave propagation, large density changes and incompressible flow characteristics at low Mach number. Some internal flows such as convergent-divergent nozzles are computed using this method. Comparisons of predicted and experimental results are provided and discussed.

The basic BFGS procedure for the nonlinear finite element analysis is reviewed. Through a simple numerical example, promising characteristics of the method evaluated discussed. Based on the discussion of computational performance, a modified BFGS algorithm with substructuring is derived and proposed for the quasi-static analysis of large-scale nonlinear structures.

A metal-free and efficient procedure for the oxidation of alcohols into the corresponding carbonyl compounds has been described using ammonium nitrate in the presence of silica sulfuric acid under mild and heterogeneous conditions. The use of non-toxic and inexpensive materials, simple and clean work-up, short reaction times and good yields of the products are among the advantages of this method.

The purpose of this paper is to describe the mutual inductance between two non-coaxial circular coils in coil gun. As being in many electromagnetic applications, one of them is fixed and the other one is moving and, being not supported, its axis may not coincide with the axis of the fixed coil. This paper presents a method for the calculation of the mutual inductance in case of non-coaxial coupled coils, the characteristics of this inductance and experimental results. For the computation, the complete elliptic integrals formula and mesh matrix technique were introduced. This method enables accurate results from relatively simple procedure and calculation program.

With the marked decrease in operative mortality in simple heart diseases there have been several reports on the minimally invasive and cosmetic techniques including submammary incision right parasternal approach right anterolateral thoracotomy partial sternotomy and subxiphoid approach. We report here subxiphoid approach without sternotomy for the repair of atrial septal defect as the procedure that has less invasive technique and more cosmetic effect.

Congenital coronary arteriovenous fistula is relatively rare congenital heart disease which has formation of fistula between coronary artery and cardiac ventricle, atrium, or pulmonary artery, but that can be repaired with simple surgical procedure. We experienced three cases of congenital coronary arteriovenous fistula, which were repaired surgically under cardiopulmonary bypass, so we report these cases with review of the literatures.

Efficiency calibration is a fundamental procedure in gamma spectrometric measurement. Experimental technique for efficiency calibration transfer in gamma spectrometer along different geometries and volumes has been developed and validated in this work. The developed technique offers simple and easy procedures to overcome several problems encountered in efficiency calibration of gamma spectrometer such as rate-related correction and different sample volumes. The validation shows that application of the developed technique has a precision of 95%.

A simple. specific and sensitive method for the determination of cyclosporine A (CsA) in human serum has been developed by a high performance liquid chromatography/diode array detector (DAD) and applied to pharmacokinetic study of CsA. This method involves the use of solid phase extraction procedure following rapid protein precipitation with zinc sulphate from 1 $m\ell$ of human serum, using a disposable $C_{18}$ extraction cartridge.
