This paper reviews the existing research activities on signaling and control procedures for IP over optical networks. We focus on the IP-centric signaling and control architecture based on the generalized multi-protocol label switching (GMPLS) protocol and analyze various scenarios and technical issues for deploying the IP over an optical network. We analyze the signaling and operations and administration and maintenance requirements for integrating an IP network and an optical network in order to cope with the high bandwidth and poor resource granularity of the optical network, including the optical cross-connect system. On the basis of network architecture and a reference configuration model, we investigate the GMPLS-based control architecture and interconnection model appropriate for controlling IP bandwidth and optical lambda resources. The signaling and control procedure based on GMPLS on optical user-network interface and network-network interface are comparatively investigated to provide the optical lightpath. We also study protection and restoration procedures to protect link failure when it applies to generalized MPLS signaling.
In CDMA based mobile communication network, signaling messages are routed through Signaling Transfer Point(STP) which is responsible for MTP layer 3 switching. As WCDMA based UMTS network is considered as next generation technology allowing global roaming services, all nodes in networks have their own identity number called Global Title(GT). Therefore, it is essential to introduce Signaling Gateway(SG) responsible for SCCP layer switching to solve the problem each node has all GT tables including even all overseas nodes. In this paper, we propose the signaling network architecture in UMTS networks using SG and we show that we can reduce CAPEX and OPEX in each node. To show the validity of the proposed method some simulations are given in which the results can be expected by intuitive observation.
Recently, vital devices of the railway signaling systems have been computerized in order to ensure safe train operation. Due to this computerization, we have gradually come to need networking interfaces between these devices. Thus it is important that there be reliable communication links in the signaling systems. Network technologies are applied in the real-time industrial control system, and there are numerous studies to be carried out on the computer network technology for vital control systems such as railway signaling systems. For deploying the studies, we consider costs, reliability, safety assurance technique, compatibility, and etc. In this paper, we propose the Ethernet for railway signaling systems and also precisely describe the computer network characteristics of vital railway signaling systems. Then we demonstrate the experimental results of the proposed network algorithm, which is based on switched Ethernet technology with redundancy scheme.
Viruses have evolved to manipulate the host cell machinery for virus propagation, in part by interfering with the host cellular signaling network. Molecular studies of individual pathways have uncovered many viral host-protein targets; however, it is difficult to predict how viral perturbations will affect the signaling network as a whole. Systems biology approaches rely on multivariate, context-dependent measurements and computational analysis to elucidate how viral infection alters host cell signaling at a network level. Here we describe recent advances in systems analyses of signaling networks in both viral and non-viral biological contexts. These approaches have the potential to uncover virus- mediated changes to host signaling networks, suggest new therapeutic strategies, and assess how cell-to-cell variability affects host responses to infection. We argue that systems approaches will both improve understanding of how individual virus-host protein interactions fit into the progression of viral pathogenesis and help to identify novel therapeutic targets.

As all delays resulting from the signaling network directly affect the response time of network management activity, all control informations have to be transported most efficiently. It is very important to know the performance of the signaling system not only because of smooth network operation but also because of efficient engineering of signaling networks. In this paper, we analyzed mean queueing delay of signaling link for ISUP signaling messages in common channel signaling system by using M[X]/G/1 and M[X]/D/1 batch arrival queueing system. This is because we modeled arrival process of the signaling messages as batch arrival process considering that many kinds of signaling messages are generated at short intervals when a call requests a connection. Analysis was carried out considering different call processing scenario based on ITU-T specification. We also described the numerical results from the different types of queueing models.
We evaluated the role of Tat-mediated p66shc transduction on the activation of endothelial nitric oxide synthase in cultured mouse endothelial cells. To construct the Tat-p66shc fusion protein, human full length p66shc cDNA was fused with the Tat-protein transduction domain. Transduction of TAT-p66shc showed a concentration- and time-dependent manner in endothelial cells. Tat-mediated p66shc transduction showed increased hydrogen peroxide and superoxide production, compared with Tat-p66shc (S/A), serine 36 residue mutant of p66shc. Tat-mediated p66shc transduction decreased endothelial nitric oxide synthase phosphorylation in endothelial cells. Furthermore, Tat-mediated p66shc transduction augmented TNF-${\alpha}$-induced p38 MAPK phosphorylation in endothelial cells. These results suggest that Tat-mediated p66shc transduction efficiently inhibited endothelial nitric oxide synthase phosphorylation in endothelial cells.
Vascular inflammation is an important step in the development of cardiovascular disorder. Since it has not been known whether Korean red ginseng has a role to play on the vascular inflammation, we investigated the effects of Korean red ginseng extract (KRGE) on monocyte adhesion and its underlying signaling mechanism. Monocyte adhesion assay and Western blot were conducted on the human umbilical vein endothelial cells to study monocyte adhesion and the expression of adhesion molecules. Intracellular calcium was measured with Fura-2 fluorescent staining, and superoxide production was measured with lucigenin chemiluminescence in the endothelial cells. KRGE inhibits tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha-induced monocyte adhesion on the endothelial cells at the range of $0.03{\sim}1$ mg/ml. TNF-alpha-induced vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 and intercellular cell adhesion molecule-1 expression were inhibited by the pretreatment of KRGE in the endothelial cells. KRGE also inhibits TNF-alpha-induced intracellular calcium and the superoxide production in the endothelial cells. This study first demonstrated that KRGE inhibits TNF-alpha-induced monocyte adhesion by inhibiting the adhesion molecule expression, intracellular calcium and superoxide production in the endothelial cells. Therefore, the anti-inflammatory function of KRGE may be contributed to protecting the endothelial dysfunction in the vascular inflammatory disorders.

The Back Bone of gearing portion between Core Network System which is used in wire and wireless system is No.7 Protocol. ISUP( ISDN User Part), INAP handling in Intelligent Network and MAP gearing method for linking each Network Element System in mobile network have use of No.7 signaling. Therefore, it is require for system to detect the problem - operating problem occurs in Core Network which use No.7 signaling or the existing problem that is not recognized - in shortest time. This paper study out analyzing and measuring system for No.7 protocol and analyzing out system whether out of order or not. It can abstract No.7 Signaling Message and analyze system performance and report it. This system is connected in system No.7 HW Module which is in charge of No.7 Signaling. It is not offer Emulator function and Simulation function for any scenario but offer monitoring No.7 signaling. This system perform the function about No.7 MTP, ISUP, INAP and MAP and is offered several wire and wireless network Operator. It can detect and correct SW system, HW system and operating system problem. From now on, this system may offer the function about A-interface which is gearing between BSC and MSC, so it will perform to analyze generally and prompt effective operating for Core Network system.

In this paper, we perform a simulation to verify the earth resistance values in Common Earth Network. The simulation is performed on the assumption that certain shorts are occurred in common earth network. Furthermore, from the result, we confirmed that very small earth resistance values in common earth network are given, by carrying out practical measurements in railway sections where common earth network is composed. From the effect, we could discover that the construction of common earth network is in a disadvantageous position on the financial aspect, while it is the most desirable way of construction for the purpose of Earth.
