Negative Group Delay Circuit with Improved Signal Attenuation and Multiple Pole Characteristics

  • This paper presents a design of a transmission line negative group delay (NGD) circuit with multiple pole characteristics. By inserting an additional transmission line into a conventional NGD circuit, the proposed circuit provides further design parameters to obtain wideband group delay (GD) and to help reduce signal attenuation. As a result, the number of gain compensating amplifiers can be reduced, which can contribute to stable operation when integrated into RF systems. The multiple pole characteristics can provide wider NGD bandwidth and can be obtained by connecting resonators with slightly different center frequencies separated by quarter-wavelength transmission lines. For experimental validation, an NGD circuit with two poles GD characteristic is designed, simulated, and measured.

  • The design method of signal delay line system using indirect frequency synthesizer is presented. The variable signal delay line system with 2[nsec] step of delay time at center frequency 60[MHz], bandwidth 500[KHz] and range 5.24-5.81[x10S0-6Tsec] is designed and fabricated. The results were met with good characteristics to be variable delay time of average 2.01[nsec] per step.

  • 본 논문에서는 비선형 전력증폭기(PA:power amplifier)의 AM/PM 비선형 왜곡특성을 포함하는 군 지연을 보상하는 새로운 등화기를 제안한다. 군 지연 특성은 각 주파수 성분에 따라 서로 다르게 나타나는 상수가 아닌 비선형 시간지연이다. 전력증폭기에서 발생되는 AM/PM 특성으로 인한 위상 왜곡 현상은 군 지연을 증가시키는 주요한 요인이다. 이러한 군 지연 왜곡으로 신호 성상도에서 신호는 퍼지면서 회전하게 된다. 위와 같은 문제점을 고려하여 각 주파수 성분에 따라 다르게 나타나는 비선형 시간지연을 정적인 군지연으로 구분하고, PA의 AM/PM 특성인 입력신호 크기에 따라서 위상 천이가 다르게 발생하는 것을 동적인 군 지연으로 구분한다. 정적인 군 지연은 주파수 영역에서 Type-Based 방법으로 위상 왜곡을 추정 및 보상하고 동적인 군 지연은 시간영역에서 위상회전을 보상한다. 제안된 군 지연 보상기법으로 전력증폭기의 AM/PM 특성을 포함한 군 지연 특성을 충분히 보상할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

신호현시 정보 제공 시스템의 시간 지연특성 연구 (A Study on the Time Delay Characteristics of Traffic Signal Phase and Timing Information Providing System)

  • A V2X system can be a candidate as a means to increase the stability of autonomous vehicles. In particular, in order to implement a Level 4 or higher autonomous driving system, the application of the V2X system is essential. Wireless communication technologies applicable to the V2X system include WAVE and C-V2X. Currently, the V2X service most used by autonomous driving systems is a service that provides signal phase and timing information and since real-time characteristic is a very important, verification of this service must be done. In this paper, we measured the time delay characteristics for providing signal phase and timing information using WAVE and LTE communication, and proposed a TOD-based signal phase and timing information generation method without using V2X communication system. To analyze the time delay characteristics, RTT (Round Trip Time) was measured as a result of the measurement. Average RTT using WAVE communication was 5.84ms and was 104.15ms with LTE communication. As a result of measuring the error between the signal phase and timing information generated based on TOD and the actual traffic light state, it was measured to be -0.284~3.784sec.

Study on Timing Characteristics of High-Voltage Pulse Generation with Different Charging Voltages

  • The time synchronization of each sub-unit of a pulsed generator is important to generate an output high-power radio frequency (RF) signal. To obtain the time synchronization between an input RF signal fed by an external source and an electron beam produced by an electric pulse generator, the influence of different charging voltages on a delay and a rise time of the output pulse waveform in the electric pulse generator should be carefully considered. This paper aims to study the timing characteristics of the delay and the rise time as a function of different charging voltages with a peak value of less than -35 kV in the high-voltage pulse generator, including a trigger generator (TG) and a pulse-forming line (PFL). The simulation has been carried out to estimate characteristics in the time domain, in addition to their output high-voltage amplitude. Experimental results compared with those obtained by simulation indicate that the delay of the output pulses of the TG and PFL, which are made by controlling the external triggering signal with respect to different charging voltages, is getting longer as the charging voltage is increasing, and their rise times are inversely proportional to the amplitude of the charging voltage.

음성 신호를 이용한 시간지연 추정에 미치는 영향들에 관한 연구 (Factors for Speech Signal Time Delay Estimation)

  • Since it needs the light computational load and small database, sound source localization method using time delay of arrival(TDOA method) is applied at many research fields such as a robot auditory system, teleconferencing and so on. Researches for time delay estimation, which is the most important thing of TDOA method, had been studied broadly. However studies about factors for time delay estimation are insufficient, especially in case of real environment application. In 1997, Brandstein and Silverman announced that performance of time delay estimation deteriorates as reverberant time of room increases. Even though reverberant time of room is same, performance of estimation is different as the specific part of signals. In order to know that reason, we studied and analyzed the factors for time delay estimation using speech signal and room impulse response. In result, we can know that performance of time delay estimation is changed by different R/D ratio and signal characteristics in spite of same reverberant time. Also, we define the performance index(PI) to show a similar tendency to R/D ratio, and propose the method to improve the performance of time delay estimation with PI.

군지연 특성을 고려한 위성통신 시스템의 성능 분석 (Performance Analysis of the Satellite Communication System Including the Grop Delay Characteristics)

  • 본 논문에서는 group delay가 위성 통신 시스템에 미치는 영향을 분석한다. 일정한 상수가 아닌 group delay에서는 신호의 위상 왜곡이 발생한다. Group delay는 특성에 따라 linear, parabolic, cubic으로 모델링할 수 있다. 각각의 group delay 특성을 위성통신 시스템에 적용하여 BER(bit error rate)을 분석한다. Group delay는 신호의 대역폭이 커질수록 신호에 미치는 영향이 커지는 특성을 갖고 있으며, 위성 통신 시스템의 정보 전송속도가 1Mbps, 4Mbps, 8Mbps 의 세 가지인 경우에 대하여 BER을 분석한다. 이때 channel coding으로는 구속장이 7이고, code rate 1/2인 convolution coding과 7/8 punctured convolution coding 를 이용한다. BER = $10^{-5}$을 만족하는 요구 SNR을 관찰하였을 때, group delay의 영향을 받는 데이터는 group delay의 영향을 받지 않은 데이터에 비해 요구 SNR은 최소 0.3㏈에서 최대 4.4㏈으로 증가한다. 이들 중 group delay에 의한 영향이 가장 큰 경우는 group delay의 특성이 linear 특성이고 channel coding이 7/8 puncture convolution coding, 전송속도가 8 Mbps인 경우로서 이때 요구 SNR은 4.4㏈증가한다.

보호.비보호 혼용좌회전 신호체계를 고려한 부산지역 신호교차로의 최적설계에 관한 연구 (Optimal Design of the Signalized Intersection in Pusan Area using the Protected-Permissive Left-Turn Signal System)

  • The purpose in this study was to review the travel characteristics of the left-turn signal system on the signalized intersections under the study in Pusan area, construct the appropriate transportation systems under the different left-turn signal system : Protected Left-Turn signal system, Permissive Left-Turn signal system, and Protected-Permissive Left-Turn signal system based upon the travel characteristics reviewed, and finally suggest the optimal left-turn signal system which could reduce traffic delay and fuel consumption. and also improve traffic safety on the signalized intersections based upon the optimal transportation system constructed. Based upon the results, it was concluded that the Protected-Permissive Left-Turn signal system would be better and safer than the Permissive Left-Turn signal system in the aspects which could reduce decrease delay and fuel consumption, and simultaneously increase traffic safety on the signalized intersections, even if the optimal Permissive Left Turn signal system was found to be the best left-turn signal system in the aspects of the Measures of Effectiveness(MOE) on the intersections under the study.

  • A cavity delay filter module for IMT-2000 LPA has been developed with 0.9dB insertion loss, 0.1dB/0.6$^{\circ}$ gain/phase flatness. Broadband signal cancellation of the module has been simulated using the measured S parameter, and gain, phase and group delay have been matched to satisfy the signal cancellation of the module. In the experiment, the value of designed parameters are used and 40dB signal cancellation has been obtained over 100MHz bandwidth. Also the sampling cancellation has been shown to be the similar performance of the feedforward output cancellation.

Compensation Method of eLoran Signal's Propagation Delay and Performance Assessment in the Field Experiment

  • The eLoran system is a high-power terrestrial navigation system that is recognized as the most appropriate alternative to complement the GNSS's vulnerability to radio frequency interference. Accordingly, Korea has conducted eLoran technology development projects since 2016. The eLoran system developed in Korea provides 20 m positioning accuracy to maritime user in Incheon and Pyeongtaek harbor. To accurately calculate the position with the eLoran signal, it is necessary to apply a compensation method that mitigates the propagation delay. In this paper, we develop the compensation method to mitigate the eLoran signal propagation delay and evaluate the positioning performance in Incheon harbor. The propagation delay due to the terrain characteristics is pre-surveyed and stored in the user receiver. Real-time fluctuations in propagation delay compared to the pre-stored data are mitigated by the temporal correction generated at a nearby differential Loran station. Finally, two performance evaluation tests were performed to verify the positioning accuracy of the Korean eLoran system. The first test took place in December 2020 and the second in April 2021. As a result, the Korean eLoran service has been confirmed to provide 20 m location accuracy without GPS.
