Background: Epidural opioids are commonly used for postoperative analgesia. However, the side effects of epidural opioids include respiratory depression, sedation, pruritus, nausea, vomiting and urinary retention. Meperidine, due to its intermediate lipid solubility and local anesthetic properties, permits postoperative analgesia. The aim of this study was to compare meperidine alone to meperidine coupled with bupivacaine, and to determine the effects of epidural meperidine without bupivacaine, when used for epidural analgesia following hepatectomy abdominal surgery. Methods: Patients received thoracic epidural analgesia with meperidine alone (3.5 mg/ml in saline) or with additional bupivacaine (0.15%) for 2 days after surgery. Postoperative pain was assessed using a visual analog scale (VAS) pain score 2 days after the operation, with the incidence and dose supplementation also evaluated. Postoperative side effects were assessed using a 3 grade system. Results: No significant difference was found between the two groups in terms of age and weight, or in the pain scores, side effects, incidence and dose supplementation. Conclusions: 3.5 mg/ml epidural meperidine at a dose of 2 ml/hr provides effective postoperative analgesia.

Backgound: The present study was undertaken to determine whether fentanyl or bupivacaine is a better adjuvant to epidural morphine with respect to postoperative analgesic use and with fewer incidence of side effects. Methods: We evaluated the clinical effects in 62 patients having cesarean section, divided in 3groups randomly. Group I(n=19) was received epidural morphine 4 mg, group II(n=22) was received epidural morphine 2 mg plus fentanyl 50 ${\mu}g$ and group III(n=21) was received morphine 2 mg plus 0.25% bupivacaine 10 ml epidurally. We measured the first request time of analgesic for postoperative pain, the number of supplemental analgesics within 24 hours and the incidence of side effects postoperatively. Results: The first request time of analgesic for postoperative pain was significantly shorter in group III than in group I and II. The analgesic use in the first 24 hours was significantly more in group III than in group I and II. The side effects were significantly fewer incidence in group II than in group I and III. Conclusions: In conclusion, the combined use of epidural morphine and fentanyl provided better analgesia than the combined of epidural morphine and bupivacaine.

During the last decades, research and therapeutic methods in cancer treatment have been evolving. As the results, nowadays, cancer patients are receiving several types of treatments, ranging from chemotherapy and radiation therapy to surgery and immunotherapy. In fact, most cancer patients take a combination of current anti-cancer therapies to improve the efficacy of treatment. However, current strategies still cause some side effects to patients, such as pain and depression. Therefore, there is the need to discover better ways to eradicate cancer whilst minimizing side effects. Recently, immunotherapy, particularly immune checkpoint blockade, is rising as an effective anti-cancer treatment. Unlike chemotherapy or radiation therapy, immunotherapy has few side effects and a higher tumor cell removal efficacy depend on cellular immunological mechanisms. Moreover, recent studies suggest that tissue immune responses are regulated by their microbiome composition. Each tissue has their specific microenvironment, which makes their microbiome composition different, particularly in the context of different types of cancer, such as breast, colorectal, kidney, lung, and skin. Herein, we review the current understanding of the relationship of immune responses and tissue microbiome in cancer in both animal and human studies. Moreover, we discuss the cancer-microbiome-immune axis in the context of cancer development and treatment. Finally, we speculate on strategies to control tissue microbiome alterations that may synergistically affect the immune system and impact cancer treatment outcomes.

The circuit effects due to the transformer primary side series equivalent inductance in the Zero Voltage Switching Pulse Width Modulated Half Bridge DC/DC Converter and its impact on the effective duty are analyzed. The steady state equations and the small signal model of the converter are derived incorporating the effects of the complementary control and the utilization of transformer primary side series equivalent inductance. The open plant dynamics are analyzed on the basis of the model derived. The model predictions are confirmed by experimental measurements.

The present study has numerically investigated the effects of fuel-side dilution and pressure on flame structure and extinction scalar dissipation rate of turbulent syngas nonpremixedd flames. Numerical results indicate that for highly diluted case, peak temperature is decreased and stoichiometric mixture fraction is increased. By decreasing the pressure and the nitrgen dilution levelcreased, the extinction scalar dissipation rate is increased.

In this system, the circulating current play very important role. Its state and magnitude effects on system characteristics. This paper deals with the control method of the circulating current and side band component analysis of high frequency side current which is produced by it.

Recently, oral appliances for treating snoring and obstructive sleep apnea are widely used. Among various appliances, mandibular advancement devices are most effective without serious side effects. Advancement of mandible keep airway open and decrease snoring and/or obstructive apnea events. They can be used as stand-alone therapy or an adjunct to continuous positive air pressure for lowering air pressure. Oral appliances should be applied by dentists who have knowledges and experiences on occlusion and temporomandibular disorders and manage of side effects.

This paper describes that the leaf spring damper(LSD) developed by authors can be controled by side clearance between side cover and leaf spring. The test rig and two prototype dampers with different side clearance were manufactured. Experiments were performed to investigate the effects of side clearance on the damping of leaf spring damper. The stiffness and damping coefficients are obtained from the displacements and the reaction forces generated by rotating the eccentric shaft. All dynamic coeffficients are plotted with the excitation frequency which is adjusted by rotating speed of shaft.

The purpose of this study was to show the effect of Umnungchon and Hyolhae about acupuncture side effects. 6 cases of patients treated in Hankyoreh Oriental madical clinic of Daejeon from Dec 1 2005 to Apr 15 2006 were survey. The side effect of acupunctur therapy is called neddling-shock(Chim-hun) and it happ. ened at to nervers, hungry, fatigue patient's condition. The side effect of acupuncture is paraesthesia, hypersensitivity, hematoma etc. But it was not mentioned in Oriental medical literature written in Chinese. I used Umlungchon and heulhe for The side effect of acupuncture and This point were effective treatment of paraesthesia, hypersensitivity, hematoma by acupuncture.
