The present study investigates effects of flow velocity on the convective heat/mass transfer characteristics in wavy ducts of a primary surface heat exchanger application. Local heat/mass transfer coefficients on the wavy duct sidewall are determined by using a naphthalene sublimation technique. The flow visualization technique is used to understand the overall flow structures inside the duct. The aspect ratio and corrugation angle of the wavy duct is fixed at 7.3 and 145$^{\circ}$ respectively, and the Reynolds numbers, based on the duct hydraulic diameter, vary from 100 to 5,000. The results show that there exist complex secondary flows and transfer processes resulting in non-uniform distributions of the heat/mass transfer coefficients on the duct side walls. At low Re (Re<1000), relatively high heat/mass transfer regions like cell shape appear on both pressure and suction side wall due to the secondary vortex flows called Taylor-Gortler vortices perpendicular to the main flow direction. However, at high Re (Re>1000), these secondary flow cells disappear and boundary layer type flow characteristics are observed on pressure side wall and high heat/mass transfer region by the flow reattachment appears on the suction side wall. The average heat/mass transfer coefficients are higher than those of the smooth circular duct due to the secondary flows inside wavy duct. And also friction factors are about two times greater than those of the smooth circular duct.
To investigate the non-Gaussian feature of fluctuating wind pressures on rectangular high-rise buildings, wind tunnel tests were conducted on scale models with side ratios ranging from 1/9~9 in an open exposure for various wind directions. The high-order statistical moments, time histories, probability density distributions, and peak factors of pressure fluctuations are analyzed. The mixed normal-Weibull distribution, Gumbel-Weibull distribution, and lognormal-Weibull distribution are adopted to fit the probability density distribution of different non-Gaussian wind pressures. Zones of Gaussian and non-Gaussian are classified for rectangular buildings with various side ratios. The results indicate that on the side wall, the non-Gaussian wind pressures are related to the distance from the leading edge. Apart from the non-Gaussianity in the separated flow regions noted by some literature, wind pressures behind the area where reattachment happens present non-Gaussian nature as well. There is a new probability density distribution type of non-Gaussian wind pressure which has both long positive and negative tail found behind the reattachment regions. The correlation coefficient of wind pressures is proved to reflect the non-Gaussianity and a new method to estimate the mean reattachment length of rectangular high-rise building side wall is proposed by evaluating the correlation coefficient. For rectangular high-rise buildings, the mean reattachment length calculated by the correlation coefficient method along the height changes in a parabolic shape. Distributions of Gaussian and non-Gaussian wind pressures vary with side ratios. It is inappropriate to estimate the extreme loads of wind pressures using a fixed peak factor. The trend of the peak factor with side ratios on different walls is given.

There are no solar loads through windows and heat transfer from outer walls of the building to the interior This study analyzes indoor air temperature and air flow distribution for the interior of buildings or vessels occupying space. Numerical method is adopted to visualize the indoor side environmental situation. that is without heat transmission to outside the building in various cooling load conditions; supply ventilation lighting. occupancy and infiltration in conditioned spaces. Reaching time of an air conditioner is predicted theoretically by cooling load variations. Theoretical modelling of the reaching time shows good agreement with experimental results.
In the case of a AIGalnP/GaP system rectangular parallelepiped high brightness LED which has side walls etched to be slanted off the vertical direction, we have studied the effects of lossy electrodes and material absorption and etching depth and angle of side walls on its light extraction efficiency. If LEDs have no electrodes, in order to obtain an 80% light extraction efficiency of a TIP (truncated inverted pyramid) LED, the side-etched LEDs should have an etching angle of 22$^{\circ}$~45$^{\circ}$ and an etching depth of 8~17% of a dice height and an absorption coefficient less than 1 $cm^{-1}$ / In case of etching depth of 16~39% of a dice height, we can obtain a 90% light extraction efficiency of a TIP LED. But when LEDs have two electrodes and no absorption loss, in order to obtain an 80% light extraction efficiency of a TIP LEBs, the side-etched LEDs should have an etching angle of 25$^{\circ}$-45$^{\circ}$ and an etching depth of 30~36% of a dice height. In case of etching depth of 57~71% of a dice height, we can obtain a 90% light extraction efficiency of a TIP LED.
This study sets the solar power system installed and applied to the vertical side wall among the photovoltaic systems in the building as the scope of the research. The theoretical background was considered through literature research as a research method, and the current status, trends and characteristics of solar generator design installed and applied to domestic and foreign vertical side walls were then investigated and analyzed cases. As a result, the importance and necessity of photovoltaic generators, potential for power generation and growth were identified, and positive factors and directions were found for improving aestheticity. Based on this point, we would like to propose expected effects that can be applied to photovoltaic system design installed and applied to vertical side walls in the future, and confirm the direction and significance of the improvement of aesthetic quality of the proposal for development of thin film solar cell design technology using green facade design.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the shear wall location in rigid frames on the dynamic behavior of a roof structure due to vertical and horizontal earthquake motions. The study deals with a gabled long span beam supported by two story rigid frames with shear walls. The earthquake response analysis is carried out to study the responses of the roof: vibration mode, natural period, bending moment and horizontal shear force of the bearings. The study results in the following conclusions: First, a large horizontal stiffness difference between the side frames is caused by the shear wall location, which results in a large vertical vibration of the roof and a large shear force at the side bearings. Second, in this case, the seismic design method for ordinary buildings is not useful in determining the distribution of the static equivalent loads for the seismic design of this kind of long span structures.

The characteristics of longitudinal dispersion enhancement by the flow oscillation are numerically studied according to various groove geometries in a 2-D channel in the present study. The length of expanded section l$_{1}$/h$_{1}$ is varied from 0 to 8.75. The oscillating flow condition is given at both side ends, i.e., u = Asin ($2{\pi}ft$) The non-dimensional temperatures at both side ends are set to zero. The bottom and top walls are adiabatic. The local heat sources are located at the middle of the groove wall. In order to solve the governing equations, the SIMPIER algorithm is employed. The present results indicate that maximum longitudinal thermal dispersion can be achieved when the area ratio of the expanded section to the contracted section in the grooved channel becomes 1.
In this paper, we report the experimental results for the flow pattern and the material transport around a cavity subject to a sinusoidal external flow at the far region to ward the open side of the cavity. A tilting mechanism is used to generate a oscillatory flow inside a shallow rectangular container having a cavity at one side. The surface flow visualization is performed to obtain the unsteady behavior of vortices generated at two edges situated at the entrance of the cavity. It was found that at the period 4.5 sec., the behavior of the vortices is asymmetric, and there exists a steady residual flow in the cavity. The bottom flow patterns are also visualized. There are two regions outside of the cavity where the bottom fluid particles concentrate. The material transport in this flow model is very peculiar; fluid particles in the cavity flows outward through the passage along the walls starting from the edges, and particles in the outer region approach the cavity from the central region.

The objective of this study is to developed the refrigeration vehicle system installed eutectic olu-tion plates which consists of copper tubes carrying the refrigerant between two aluminum plates and the space between the plates filled with eutectic solution. The numerical analysis for the loca-tion of plates to get the uniform low temperature distribution in storage space was carried out and the result showed that the top left-side and right-side walls were the proper places to install plates. For three different concentrations of ethylene glycol solution the temperature distribution of inside space were measured during the day time of summer and the 21% solution was found to be properto sustain the temperature of $5-10^{\circ}C$ for milk transportation. The result showed that the refrigeration truck installed eutectic plates was very efficient to keep the milk fresh during vehicle transportation.
