  • The objectives of this study are to develop and evaluate the Neural Network algorithm which can predict the inelastic shortening such as the creep strain and the drying shrinkage strain of reinforced concrete members using the previous test data. New learning algorithms for the prediction of creep strain and the drying shrinkage strain are proposed focusing on input layer components and a normalization method for input data and their validity is examined through several test data. In Neural Network algorithm, the main input data to be trained are the compressive strength of the concrete, volume to surface ratio, curing condition, relative humidity, and the applied load. The results show that the new algorithms proposed herein successfully predict creep strain and the drying shrinkage strain.

  • During the past few decades, several composite steel-concrete structural systems have been used and the demand of SRC (Steel Reinforced Concrete) structure increases on the construction of coping structures. But drying shrinking of concrete which is not uniform and the additional restraining effects of encased steel in concrete may cause the crack which leads to harmful damage to structure. In this study, specimens were made to show the restraining effects of embeded-steel in concrete and the differential drying shrinkage strains at various position of concrete were measured and analysed by Compensation Line Method. The results showed that there were remarkable difference in the drying shrinkage according to 속 depth of the concrete, and the tensile stress of the concrete near to encased steel showed the significant amount of stress contrary to 속 specimen which has no embeded-steel.

  • The Hot Embossing Lithography(HEL) as a method for the fabrication of nanostructure with polymer is becoming increasingly important because of its simple process, low cost, high replication fidelity and relatively high throughput. In this study, we investigated the characteristics of hot embossing lithography as a nanoreplication technique. To grasp characteristics of nano patterning rheology by process parameters(embossing temperature, pressure and time), we have carried out various experiments by using the DVD(400nm pattern width) and Blu-ray nickel stamps(150nm pattern width). During the hot embossing process, we have observed the characteristics of the size effect. The quality of products made by hot embossing is affected by its cooling shrinkage. The demolding process at the glass transition temperature results in low quality because of the shrinkage of the polymer. Therefore, the quantification of the temperature condition is essential for the replication of high quality.

  • Injection mold is a manufacturing process used to produce parts of complicated shape at a low cost. Many factors affect the quality of injection molded part during injection molding process. A study on the optimization of injection mold is progressed by using a simulation software like Moldflow. Filling, packing and cooling phases of injection molding processes are analyzed according to the mold design considering the shrinkage of molded part, the degree of filling rate and the wearing of a mold. Taguchi method is applied to analyze the significance of processing parameters and the dynamic characteristics according to the variation of processing parameters. From the results, the mold temperature and packing pressure influenced strongly the shrinkage of injection molded part.

  • Tensile and shrinkage characteristics of DTY, EDY and Macel were investigated experimentally. The drawn textured yarn(DTY) made by an existing belt type false twist and the elastic drawn textured yarn(EDY) made by non-torque false twist method modified from the belt type one. Macel was the yarn which had drawn and un-drawn arrangements. The tenacity of EDY had lower value than that of DTY. EDY had higher strethch than that of DTY. Especially Macel yarn had higher stretch than that of DTY compared with the same diameter of yarn. With time course behavior the tenacity and elongation of DTY and EDY had stabled tendency without variation. Before scouring Process, the wet and dry shrinkage patio of EDY load higher value than that of DTY. However, they decreased artier the process. At the same time, the stretch characteristic of EDY was significant as the diameter of yarn became higher.

  • In this study, research is in order to prevent the defects that occur when the polished tiles construction. For material to be used when the polishing tile construction, trying to evaluate the shrinkage characteristics when the environmental conditions change. Depending on the material used for the shrinkage characteristics evaluation results, the difference between the change values of the length of the drying shrinkage becomes large. Therefore, there is a need for the construction method with consideration of the characteristics of the materials used.

  • We investigate an image recovery method for sparse-view computed tomography (CT) using an iterative shrinkage algorithm based on a second-order approach. The two-step iterative shrinkage-thresholding (TwIST) algorithm including a total variation regularization technique is elucidated to be more robust than other first-order methods; it enables a perfect restoration of an original image even if given only a few projection views of a parallel-beam geometry. We find that the incoherency of a projection system matrix in CT geometry sufficiently satisfies the exact reconstruction principle even when the matrix itself has a large condition number. Image reconstruction from fan-beam CT can be well carried out, but the retrieval performance is very low when compared to a parallel-beam geometry. This is considered to be due to the matrix complexity of the projection geometry. We also evaluate the image retrieval performance of the TwIST algorithm -sing measured projection data.

  • This paper presents a method of statistical analysis and sensitivity analysis of creep and shrinkage effects in PSC box girder bridges. The statistical and sensitivity analyses are performed by using the numerical simulation of Latin Hypercube sampling. For each sample, the time-dependent structural analysis is performed to produce response data, which are then statistically analyzed. The probabilistic prediction of the confidence limits on long-term effects of creep and shrinkage is then expressed. Three measures are examined to quantify the sensitivity of the outputs to each of the input variables. These are rank correlation coefficient(RCC), partial rank correlation coefficient(PRCC) and standardized rank regression coefficient(SRRC) computed on the ranks of the observations. Probability band widens with time, which indicates an increase of prediction uncertainty with time. The creep model uncertainty factor and the relative humidity appear as the most dominant factors with regard to the model output uncertainty.

  • In designing the prestressed concrete box-bridge, the dead load, prestressing force, creep and shrinkage of concrete are the main factors which influence the camber and deflection of segmental concrete structure under construction. Among these factors the creep and shrinkage are the functions of the time-dependent property which, therefore, must be considered with time. The prediction model for estimating creep and shrinkage of concrete has been suggested by ACI, CEB/FIP, JSCE and KSCE design code and EMM, AEMM, RCM, IDM and SSM has been suggested for analytical method in consideration of the time-dependent characteristics. In this study, the creep test was carried out for four curing ages of concrete which were applied to the prestressed concrete structure at a construction site, and the results of test were compared to the values of creep prediction by the design code. Also the creep test of step-wise incremental stresses were performed and were compared to analytical methods.

  • In recent years, some attention was particularly given to cracking sensitivity of high performance concrete. It has been argued and demonstrated experimentally that such concrete undergoes autogenous shrinkage due to self-desiccation at early age, and, as a result, internal tensile stress may develop, leading to micro cracking and macro cracking. One possible method to reduce cracking due to autogenous shrinkage is the addition of expansive additive. Tests conducted by many researches have shown the beneficial effects of addition of expansive additive for reducing the risk of shrinkage-introduced cracking. However, the research on hydration model of expansion additive has been hardly researched up to now. This paper presents a study of the hydration model of Ettringite-Gypsum type expansive additive. Result of comparing forecast values with experiment value, proposed model is shown to expressible of hydration of expansive additive.
