  • Despite the SKM Duyree shop's potentials, such as residing over the Samsung-dong, gangnam-gu one of the premier locations in Seoul, and offering a large shopping store, the old 'SKM Dutyfree' symbol [image #2] has become the burden for a company due to its low-profile brand quality and lack of location advertisements. Therefore, first, we have agreed to acquire the popular brand word 'COEX' and replace "SKM Dutyfree" to "COEX Dutyfree", and second, the new visual image has been created in order to create a synergy of the urban-look and the location-information. Therefore, the visual identity design concepts have been utilized in order to achieve such goals; first, promote the existing COEX-image and metropolitan-esque image. Second, unify the international-metropolitan looks of the COEX-mall, hotel, shopping center, exhibition, and airport terminal with location information. Third, deliver the new identity-design [image #1] of the fresh look(compare to competing dutyfree shops) and dynamic images.

A Study on the Effective Display Method of Optician's Shop (안경원의 효율적인 디스플레이 방법에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to research the display of optician's shop through questionnaire to suggest the direction for more effective display method. Methods: The study visited 50 optician's shops located in main area of Ulsan (university street, downtown and residential street), performed questionnaire and researched optician's display preference. Results: The displays preferred by opticians were as follows. They displayed contact lens in entrance of shop, displayed sunglasses in the wall rather than displayed them in the center of shop and displayed medium or low price products in the center so that consumers could access them conveniently. In addition, they prepared resting place for customer's convenience by locating it in entrance or inside of shop. Conclusions: It seems that effective display of optician's shop can attract consumer's mind and improve purchase, resulting in significant change of optician's shop sales. Therefore, it is necessary to perform the study to use systematic, discriminated display strategy so that shop image can be controlled consistently and continuously.

  • Franchise coffee shops have continued to attempt to differentiate themselves using cultural arts to engage with changes in consumer awareness and lifestyle. This empirical study was conducted to analyze structural relations between cultural marketing and brand image, customer satisfaction, and intention to revisit for franchised coffee shops. 322 customers at S Coffee Shop (a franchised coffee shop in Daegu) were surveyed, and collected data were subjected to frequency, descriptive, reliability, correlation, and covariance structural analysis using SPSS software. We found that culture marketing significantly improved brand image and customer satisfaction, and thus, significantly influenced intention to revisit. The study shows culture marketing activities improve brand image and increase customer satisfaction and the likelihood of revisiting.

  • The coffee shop market in Korea has been rapidly increased in quantitative terms over 10 years since the time when Starbucks opened their first shop in 1999. In recent years, the mature market characteristics that the serious competition of the coffee shop brands make the difference in taste or service reduce has been shown in that market. It's important to build the differentiated brand image for the differentiation of products and services and obtaining a price premium in serious competitive mature market. This study presented practical implications based on the results of empirical analysis of current positioning using 'Store Personality Scale.

Korean Women's Shopping Behavior and Body Image in U.S.

  • The purpose at this study was to examine and understand shopping behaviors and body image among Korean females in U.S. Subjects for this research were 20 Korean housewives. They were interviewed for this study using an interview schedule. As a result, most at the subjects have enjoyed shopping in U.S. stores. They showed that they go shopping more often in U.S. than in Korea due to more time to shop. They considered refund policy and kind salespersons as th positive characteristics in U.S. stores, while they complained about size, quality, and style in even their favorite stores. Also, subjects tend to be dissatisfied with their bodies. Compared to how they feel in Korea, they especially feel lower body image and lower self-esteem in the U.S. Ninety percent of subjects considered their body affected their shopping behaviors. To compensate how they felt about their bodies, they responded that they limit or change clothing styles or colors when they shopped. Based on these results, socio-cultural body image regarding ideal beauty and shopping behavior would be discussed.

An Evaluation on the Physical and Psychological Image of Insa-Dong (인사동의 물리적 심리적 이미지의 평가)

  • This study examines the visitors'evaluations of tourism resources in Insa-dong, which the Seoul metropolitan government has improved recently. This study adopted the method of Importance-Performance Analysis by collecting data through questionnaires. A random sampling of visitors to Insa-dong was conducted in June and July,2001. The survey included questions on the physical and psychological components of Insa-dong's tourism resources. In the case of physical components, eight factors(ancient arts shop, art gallery, atelier, calligraphy shop, pottery arts, traditional tea house, antique shop, traditional clothes) out of thirteen were categorized as 'keeping up the good work'. None of the Physical components was shown as 'low priority'or'possible overkill'. In particular, four factors(restaurant, heritage, Korean-style house and alley, traditional cultural festival) need to be impoved most urgently in terms of visitors'satisfaction. Survey results realize them as high priority in importance but low in performance, thereby designated as, 'concentrate here'. An image of the 'street' showed to be high in importance and identical in performance, so can be categorized between'keeping up the good work'and 'concentrate here'. The results show that unusual outdoor spaces and the festivals of Insa-dong have a significant meaning to the visitors. In the case of psychological components, three factors(general atmosphere experience of unusual atmosphere, appropriateness of stroll time) out of seventeen were categorized as 'keeping up the good work'. Ore factor (shopping) was designated as 'low priority'and not found to be 'possible overkill'. Thirteen factors (various events, possibility of various activity, various flood, richness of play, new experience, education cultural inheritance, parking facilities, resting places, green spaces, meeting places, guide map and information, cleanliness of facilities/convenience) need to be improved mast urgently in terms of visitors' fulfillment. They are perceived as areas of 'concentrate here'. This confirms that attractive events are essential for the recent visitor satisfaction. Furthermore, visitors are not satisfied with its amenity and acccss in Insa-dong despite the improvements. In conclusion, positive impressions, both physical and psychological, should be maintained while factors mentioned to be lacking should be prioritized in order of necessity to improve the image of Insa-dong and solutions need to be found and implemented. The results of this study would be helpful in the planning and management of nsa-dong considering the visitors'requirements.

The Influence of Coffee Shop Employee Non-verbal Communication on the Brand Image and Customer Satisfaction (커피전문점 종사원의 비언어적 커뮤니케이션이 브랜드 이미지, 고객만족도에 미치는 영향 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to understand the influence of non-verbal communication of coffee shop employees on brand image and customer satisfaction. Based on a total of 317 samples obtained for empirical research, this study reviewed the reliability and fitness of the research model and verified a total of 3 hypotheses using the AMOS program. The hypothesized relationships in the model were simultaneously tested through the use of a structural equation model(SEM). The proposed model provided an adequate data fit, ${\chi}^2=434.380$ (p<0.001), df=178, CMIN/DF=2.440, GFI=0.886, AGFI=0.852, NFI=0.900, CFI=0.938, RMSEA=0.068. The model's fit, as indicated by these indexes, was deemed satisfactory, thus providing a good basis for testing the hypothesized paths. The SEM showed that kinesics(${\beta}=.311$), paralanguage(${\beta}=.242$), physical appearance(${\beta}=.382$) and proxemics(${\beta}=.481$) had a significant positive influence on brand image. In addition, brand image(${\beta}=.217$) had a significant positive influence on customer satisfaction. Furthermore, the effect of coffee shop employee non-verbal communication on customer satisfaction was found to be partially mediated by the brand image.

  • Due to the development of technology, urbanization, industrialization, etd. at modern times, even the individual view of value has changed in variety. That means the change of each consumcer's life-style and even that of propensity to consume. In that regard, the modern, commercial space became to be increasingly included to specialization and complication. Such specialization and complication of the commercial space can be thought to be a positive response of enterprises to satisfy the needs or desire of consumers who become diversified. In this study, some new models in the method of the planning and designing of the S.I.P(Shop Identity Program). intended to research into as follows ; - As the background of the advent of the multi-used shopping complex, changes in consumer life-style and propensity to consume according to social and economical changes were intended to be studied through various statistical data literature. - For the study of the characteristics, constituent conditions, and planning operation of the future multi used shopping complex in the marketing aspect of enterprises, it was intended to study centered on the theory of consumer behavior and that of retail marketing. - In the process of the spatial design of the multi-used shopping complex, it was tried that a designing process to materialize a target of the discrimination and orderly arrangement of stores be progressed.   • The purpose of this study provides a high consumer-oriented wedding dress on the consumer and offering the consumer-oriented product and provide a basis data to develop a wedding shops so it can stable and manage of effective marketing. Wedding shop for a survey of consumer preference, and based on this wedding dress designed and made. The results are summarized as follows. First, when wearing wedding dresses and "graceful and feminine" image that seek to pursue an image that showed the highest response, "simple and stylish", "cute and vivid" image was in order. In the survey of wedding dress preference, lace is preferred, in tone of color white is preferred by and large. In silhouette, A-line is preferred most, in neckline, exposure of the shoulder, in sleeve length, sleeveless, in decoration, beads. Second, on the basis of these results, depending on the image to pursue the design, wedding was made of 3 creations. The work I is a target of the early 20s, the concept "simple and stylish", and A-line is adopted in silhouette focusing on modern simplicity, soft satin material used of high class. The work II is a target of the late 20s, the concept "cut and vivid", and fit-and-flare made of many folded tulle mesh material. The work ill is a target of the 30s overall, the concept "graceful and feminine", and high-waist- empire-line is adopted in silhouette, splendid lace material used, is of the gorgeous and mature beauty.

  • A concession business at Incheon Int'l airport has achieved a huge success since its grand opening of 2001. However the duty-free market became matured due to downtown duty free stores and on-line stores. Thus this paper tried to research and suggest strategic planning of VMD at Incheon airport's duty-free after analyzing the relationship among the components of duty-free store's VMD, brand awareness, brand image and customer's loyalty. Components of VMD are constructed in harmony, attractiveness, trendiness and Trust, which are independent variables. In addition, brand awareness and brand image are chosen as control variables. Customer loyalty is also designated as a dependant variable. Focusing those variables, this paper tried to find out the effect of VMD components to brand and consumer loyalty. According to the research result, it is proven attractiveness and harmony have a significant positive impact on brand awareness and brand image. It is also found out brand awareness and image have a positive impact on passenger's loyalty on duty-free stores at Incheon airport.
