  • The vibration generated on shipboard is very important because it is greatly affect on the comfortable mind of passenger and working conditions et crews. Shipboard vibration is closely concerned with the development of propulsion method tint is main engine to decide speed of ship. To make the propulsion power, the main engine of ship engine room have continuous explosion process, so the shipboard vibration is generated The physiological damage and psychological damage of human body have caused by the vibration et shipboard In the case of the human body is exposed to the shipboard vibration, the evaluation of human exposure to whole-body vibration is prescribed in ISO 6954: 2000(E). In this paper, to evaluate the shipboard working environment, the vibration levels of two kinds of ship onboard were measured and compared with engine rooms, engine control rooms and bridges by the regulation of ISO 6954: 2000(E)

  • This study was conducted based on the case of an accident (excessive deformation) that occurred during the hydraulic test of a shipboard tank manufactured in accordance with the design regulations. Over-pressure phenomenon was noted as the main cause of accidents in the process of testing tanks without physical damage, which can be found in external factors such as cross-sectional difference between inlet pipe and air pipe and higher water filling rate than the recommended one. The main goal of this paper is to establish a safe water filling rate according to the range of sectional area ratio(SAR) reduced below the regulations for each test situation. The simulation was conducted in accordance with the hydraulic test procedure specified in the Ship Safety Act, and the main situation was divided into two types: filling the tank with water and increasing the water head to the test pressure. The structural safety evaluation of the pressure generated inside the tank and the effect on the structure during the test was reviewed according to the SAR range. Based on the results, guidelines for the optimal filling rate applicable according to SAR during the hydraulic test were presented for the shipboard tanks used in this study.

  • The application of all regulations during building phase, plus constant vigilance in operation is essential to reducing the risk of fire aboard. A Safety by design approach is increasingly important. Fire safety regulation can solve problems which are hard to be solved by HSC code(International Code of Safety for High Speed Craft). Recently HSC code is applied for ship design development or guidance to the designer and demonstrates many advantages. In this pages, ship fire Safety are realistically modeled as ship design and the shipboard fires & muster stations are analyzed using HSC Code.

  • Though, the disasters of shipboard crew have many types and aspects, most of them are caused by human elements, and the management and the regulations for the crew safety are other elements for the crew disaster. Accordingly, the analysis of the consciousness and understandings on crew's safety management system is one of the important parts to reduce the accident. Therefore, this study made up the questionnaire and assorted the respond of shipping companies, ship's officers and engineers including captains to our questionaries, and analyzed the results to pick out and find their consciousness on the crew disaster. And also, this study is to make proposals to prevent and reduce the accident.

  • For the effective treatment of shipboard sewage continuously, a non-diaphragm electrolytic treatment device using DSA type insoluble electrode, Ti/IrO2, anode and H-C metal cathode, was studied. The most effective electrolytic conditions were obtained when cell clearance, 6mm, pH 5-6 and the concentration of seawater, more than 20% as batch test results. The COD removal rate was varied in logarithmic function, showed as C=Coe-KE and the required current was E = A/QCo [A.min/mgCOD]. When the COD removal effeciency was more than 90%, the electrolytic reaction constant was 0.02.

  • The Microfiltration and Ultrafiltration were used to treat effluent of secondary municipal wastewater treatment system(Sequencing Batch Reactor). The cross-flow hollow fiber, UF 500,000(NMWC) and MF 0.65$\mu$ membrane were selected as suitable membrane. Short term and long term fouling effect were measured as a factor of flux decrease and the fouling removal effect of mixing air bubble in the penetrant was studied. The removal of anionic sulfactants before and after formation of micelle with several kinds of oil were checked. The test results show that removal of TOC was 70~80%, TN 28% and TP 16%. The decrease of flux due to fouling were 85%(UF) and 90%(MF) after running of 100hrs. The removal of anionic sulfactants were 60~70% notwithstanding micelle or not.

  • The cargo of ships and offshore structures is the number of oil of combustibility and volatile, oil processing cargo. Furthermore heavy cargo of the vehicle or container box or bulk cargo are occupied the remainder of cargo. In addition, there is a possibility to move the location of the cargo and the vessel because it is received periodic / non-periodic a load of wave and ocean current. Therefore a shipboard hazard is much greater than onshore industry hazard. Monitoring and preparation for safety are necessary things because there is always risk of accidents arise from the impact of the freight and cargo of ships and offshore structures. In this study, we conducted a study with respect to the introduction of the wireless sensor network monitoring system to ensure the safety of the crew and workers on shipboard.

  • It is one of the most important factors Seafarers Ducation Quality Assurance and Management in Higher Maritime Educational Institution. The educational process and result of Higher Maritime Educational Institution should be evaluated according to the 1995 Amendments to the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers(STCW), 1978. Actually above-mentioned evaluation is deemed to make foundation in order to enhance the efficiency of shipboard education by surveying the satisfaction of shipboard training for nautical part cadets by the group. In this paper, we carried out the questionnaire survey to study satisfactory value and the reason of dissatisfaction of 113 cadets being trained on board the Training Ship in Maritime College of Korea Maritime University(K. M. U.). The results were calculated by frequency and percentage ; the significance of difference among Department groups like Maritime Transportation Science, Maritime Police and Ship Operating Systems Engineering was analysed by $X^2$ inspection. The major results of above analysis were as follows : First training chance for dadets was very little for being overflowed on board the training ship of the K. M. U. Second, special type of Training Ship HANBADA and HANNARA made the adaptability to merchant vessel's handling restricted. Third, cadets could not manage ratings directly, therefore the education in regard to seafaring management was limited to the theoretical instruction which leads to the low level of satisfaction. And lastly, low value of satisfaction for Drydocking Education in Shipyard was caused by cadet's leaving the Training Ship on account of the safety problems including ship and cadets.

  • As helicopter technology has been upgraded, today its oceanic operation is considered to be usual. In oceanic operation of helicopter, the effect of severe wind, wave, and corrosion must be investigated and the operation procedures for safety as well as the motion of shipboard arising from maneuvers of ship must also be considered. In this paper, it describes the result of trade-off study for shipboard landing and its operation procedure including dynamic interface between ship and aircraft in ship operation and gives a simulation results to implement the oceanic operation of tilt rotor aircraft.
