  • In this study, lots of methods have been studing to utilize energy and decrease contaminated effluents. There has been great progress on IGCC (Integrated gasification combined cycle) to reduce thermal energy losses. The following results have been conducted from desulfurization experiments using waste shell to remove $H_{2}S$. Unreacted core model ior desulfuriration rate prediction of sorbent was indicated. These were linear relationship between time and conversion. So co-current diffusion resistance was conducted reaction rate controlling step. The sulfidation rate is likely to be controlled primarily by countercurrent diffusion through the product layer of calcium sulfide(CaS) formed. Maximum desulfurization capacity was observed at 0.631 mm for lime, oyster and hard-shelled mussel. The kinetics of the sorption of $H_{2}S$ by CaO is sensitive to the reaction temperature and particle size at $800^{\circ}C$, and the reaction rate of oyster was faster than the calcined limestone at $700^{\circ}C$.

  • Gelatin soft capsules, manufactured by the press through package(PTP) process, are widely used in the production of multivitamin dietary supplements and other health functional foods. Gelatin capsules can prevent light and air from having a direct contact with the contents in the capsule, and the nutrients inside the capsules are preserved without any loss. In the present study, on the basis of the results on the safety of gelatin capsules. The parameters investigated included degradation of the capsules before their shelf life, capsule deformation, and changes in specific nutrients. Moisture and heat in the production and storage environments of the capsules caused the gelatin to swell and attach some of the inorganic salts in the vitamin contents. Nutritional component analysis showed that B1, B5, B9, and B12 contents were decreased, while mineral elemental analysis shown calcium, chloride, and zinc compound were found to be infused into the gelatin of the capsule shell.

  • The purpose of this research is to examine the utilization of oyster shells for neutralization and removal of heavy metal ions in plating wastewater, because oyster shells have been known to be very porous, to have high specific surface area and to have alkaline minerals such as calcium and magnesium. The results obtianed from this research showed that oyster shells had a buffer capacity to neutralize an acidic.alkali system in plating wastewater. Generally, it could be showed that the removal efficiencies of heavy metal ions were very influenced by reaction times and oyster shell dosages. In point of ocean waste, if oyster shells substituted for a valuable adsorbent such as actviated carbon, they could look forward to an expected economical effect.

  • In the event of a fire in the lower space, a high temperature of 1000℃ or more and an explosive fire may occur due to the closed structural features and combustible materials. On the other hand, more than 90% of oyster shells are made of CaCO3, and when heated to about 700℃ or higher, CaO and CO2 is generated due to decarboxylation reaction. In this study, we try to infer the amount generated by CO2 changing the weight of mortar using oyster shells as fine aggregates after heating. in conclusion It is considered that the smaller the particle, the greater the decarboxylation reaction and the greater the weight change.

  • The use of high-performance shotcrete lining is indispensable to improve long-term durability of a tunnel and to apply the single-shell tunnelling method. Among a lot of shotcrete admixtures, pozzolan materials such as silica fume have positive effects on increasing the strength and the durability of shotcrete. It is also well known that a cement-based accelerator is much faster in setting time and more eco-friendly than conventional accelerators. This study aimed to improve the properties of wet-mix shotcrete by incorporating with Metakaolin and the calcium aluminate based accelerator. To compare Metakaolin with silica fume, mixing ratios of each material were varied as 4% and 8% of cement weight. Moreover, Metakaolin was blended with silica fume, and their binder was also set to 4% and 8% of cement weight. At each mixing condition, setting time, compressive strength, flexural strength, permeability and freezing-thawing resistance were measured. From the experiments, it was revealed Metakaolin could be a substituting material for silica fume.

  • Punica granatum (PG) evidences a variety of physiological properties, including anti-diabetic, anti-cancer, antiinflammatory, anti-microbial, and anti-oxidative activities. Using the human basophilic KU812F cells, the inhibitory effects of the methanolic extract of PG seed, shell, and juice on calcium ionophore, A23187-induced degranulation were assessed. All of the PG extracts inhibited A23187-induced intracellular $Ca^{2+}$ levels, ${\beta}$-hexosaminidase, and histamine release in a dose-dependent manner. These results showed that all of the PG extracts are potent inhibitors of degranulation in allergic reactions, via the suppression of $Ca^{2+}$ influx.
