Turbocharger bearings are under the circumstance of high temperature, moreover rotated at high speed. It is necessary to be designed overcoming the high temperature. So the type of oil inlet port, the inlet oil temperature and the sort of engine oil should be designed, controlled and selected carefully in order to reduce the bearing inside temperature. In this study, the influence of aerated oil on a high-speed journal bearing is also examined by using the classical thermohydrodynamic lubrication theory coupled with analytical models for viscosity and density of air-oil mixture in fluid-film bearing. Convection to the walls and mixing with supply oil and re-circulating oil are considered. The considered parameters for the study of bubbly lubrication are oil inlet port's type, oil aeration level and shaft speed. It is found that the type of oil inlet ports and shaft speed play important roles in determining the temperature and pressure, then the friction and load of journal bearing at high speed operation. Also, the results show that, under extremely high shaft speed, the high shear effects on aerated oil and the high temperature effects are canceled out each other. So, the bearing load and friction show almost no difference between the aerated oil and pure oil.

In this work, the effect of composite couplings and mass distributions on hub loads of a hingeless rotor in forward flight is investigated. The hingeless composite rotor is idealized as a laminated thin-walled box-beam. The nonclassical effects such as transverse shear and torsion warping are considered In the structural formulation. The nonlinear differential equations of motion are obtained by applying Hamilton’s principle. The blade responses and hub loads are calculated using a finite element formulation both in space and time. The aerodynamic forces acting on the blade are calculated using the quasi-steady strip theory. The theory includes the effects of reversed flow and compressibility. The magnitude of elastic couplings obtained by MSC/NASTRAN is compared with the classical pitch-flap($\delta$$_3$) coupling. It Is observed that the elastic couplings and mass distributions of the blade have a substantial effect on the behavior of $N_{b}$ /rev hub loads. About 40% hub loads is reduced by tailoring or redistributing the structural properties of the blade.e.
This research investigated the physical properties of PET coolness filaments and their knitted fabrics including dyeing characteristics of these knitted fabrics according to the different dyeing time and temperature. The coolness filament(S) with non-circular cross-section and hydrophilic property was spun and another commercialized coolness(A) and regular(R) PET filaments were prepared for comparing coolness and another physical properties. Qmax of coolness knitted fabric made with S filament was higher than that of R-PET filament, and the maximum value of Qmax of S knitted fabric was shown at the dyeing conditions of temperature, $110^{\circ}C$ with 30 min. or 40min. It was shown that hand of S knitted fabric was a little harsh comparing to A and regular knit specimens, but shape retention and wearing performance of garment made with S knit specimen were estimated as good owing to high bending and shear rigidity. K/S of S knitted fabric was higher than those of regular PET and A knit specimens. Dyeing fastness of coolness knitted fabric showed between 4th and 5th grade.

The ultimate behavior of high-strength concrete beams is studied with respect to their strength. Thirteen beams were analyzed and the results are presented herein. The variable parameters were the concrete's compressive strength, from 57 to 184 MPa and the amount of lateral torsional reinforcement, from 0.35 to 1.49%. The ultimate torsional strengths from tests were compared with those by this proposed theory and by the ACI code. As a consequence, The ultimate torsional strengths by this proposed theory show the better results than those by the ACI code.
A total of 113 samples (basalts, tuffs, and siltstones from coal-bearing sediments) was collected from 14 sites of the Tertiary Changgi basin in southeastern Korea, and studied palaeomagnetically. Site-mean declination of the ChRM from 5 sites was found to be deflected clockwise about $30^{\circ}$. Other 5 sites showed no vertical-axis deflection of ChRM direction. In consideration of previous palaeomagnetic data from other Tertiary basins in the vicinity, it is interpreted that the deflection of ChRM directions has been caused by NNW-SSE simple shear associated with the opening of the East Sea, and the time of rotation should be about 16 Ma. Other 2 sites showed counterclockwise deflection of site-mean ChRM. These sites might be located among lager tectonic blocks which were rotating clockwise. AMS (anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility) study revealed $NE{\rightarrow}SW$ directed magnetic lineation at two tuffaceous sites. This might indicate flow direction of tuffs during the time of deposition. Most of the other sites showed load-foliation lying subparallel to the bedding plane. This must have been caused by gravitational loading acted vertically to the strata.

We present a simulation of a hybrid Reynolds-averaged Navier Stokes / Large Eddy Simulation (RANS/LES) based on detached eddy simulation (DES) for a Burrows and Kurkov supersonic planar mixing experiment. The preliminary simulation results are checked in order to validate the numerical computing capability of the current code. Mesh refinement studies are performed to identify the minimum grid size required to accurately capture the flow physics. A detailed investigation of the turbulence/chemistry interaction is carried out for a nine species 19-step hydrogen-air reaction mechanism. In contrast to the instantaneous value, the simulated time-averaged result inside the reactive shear layer underpredicts the maximum rise in $H_2O$ concentration and total temperature relative to the experimental data. The reason for the discrepancy is described in detail. Combustion parameters such as OH mass fraction, flame index, scalar dissipation rate, and mixture fraction are analyzed in order to study the flame structure.
To investigate the liquefaction potential of sands, a series of untrained cyclic triaxial compression tests is carried out on the samples of Ottawa, Joomoonjin, Hn river and Hongseung sands. The constitutive equations of sands are derived to explain the mechanical behavior of sands under cyclic stresses, and are applicable to liquefaction analysis. The following results are obtainded in this study. 1. Sands with the lower confining pressure or relative density are to be easily liquefied, and when the amplitude of cyclic stress are large, liquefaction takes places over only a few cycles. 2. Stress ratio, porewater pressure ratio and cyclic shear strains are to be good criteria to evaluate liquefaction potential of sands. 3. Hongseung sands which contains some silty clay shows higher dynamic properties than other sands. 4. The dynamic behaviors of undisturbed Hongseung sand are about same as those of dense sands. It is noted that undisturbed Hongseung sand shows higher liquefaction potential than the samples made by pluviation under same relative density, 5. The constitutive equations of soils under cyclic loads are developed based on the theory of elasto-plasticity, logarithmic stress-strain rela'tionship, non-associated flow rule and the concept of the boundary surface. The derived equations is applicable to predict the behavior of sands under cyclic loads and liquefaction potential with a higher accuracy. 6. Based on results of the study it may be concluded that cracks of the foundations and dislocation of the structures at Hongseung earthquakes(Oct. 7, 1978, Richter scald 5.2) are not brought by the liquefaction process.

This paper presents the dimensionless wall distance, y+ effect on SST turbulent model for wind turbine blade. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) Phase VI wind turbine was used for the study, which the wind tunnel and structural test data has publicly available. The near wall treatment and turbulent characteristics have important role for proper CFD simulation. Most of the CFD development in this area is focused on advanced turbulence model closures including second moment closure models, and so called Low-Reynolds (low-Re) number and two-layer turbulence models. However, in many cases CFD aerodynamic predictions based on these standard models still show a large degree of uncertainty, which can be attributed to the use of the $\epsilon$-equation as the turbulence scale equation and the associated limitations of the near wall treatment. The present paper demonstrates the y+ definition effect on SST (Shear Stress Transport) turbulent model with advanced automatic near wall treatment model and Gamma theta transitional model for transition from lamina to turbulent flow using commercial ANSYS-CFX. In all cases the SST model shows to be superior, as it gives more accurate predictions and is less sensitive to grid variations.
In this paper, making the best use of the features of the electro-rheological (ER) valve, a two-port pressure control valve using ER fluids is proposed and manufactured. The ER-Valve characteristics are evaluated by changing the intensity of the electric field and the number of electrode. As only with electrical signal change to the ER-Valve in which ER fluid flowing, ER fluid flow is controlled, so development of simple ER-Valves have been tried. The ER-Valves and pressure drop check method are considered to be applied to the fluid power industry. Using the manufactured pressure control valve, a one-link manipulator with FHA (Flexible Hydraulic Actuator) is driven. As a result, it is experimentally confirmed that the pressure control valve using ER fluids is applicable to use in driving actuator. If it applies characteristics of the ER fluids, it will be able to apply in the control system for the ER Valve which occurs from industrial controller. After having durability test, shear stress increased regularly because of starch particles crushed by pump and particle size that was almost the same. Moreover, Ra of copper electrode increased about 1.56 times rather than before those of performing durability test, and Rz increased about 2.2 times.

Silk fibers were subjected to argon and ethylene plasma treatments in order to improve the interfacial adhesion with polylactic acid (PLA). After the plasma surface treatment, the surface morphology and surface adhesion of silk fibers to the PLA resin were largely changed. Various plasma treatment conditions were used in this work: 10, 25, 50, 100 and 150 W of electric power, 1, 3, 5, 7 and 10 minutes of treatment time, and 10 and 50 sccm of a gas flow rate. The interfacial shear strength of plasma-treated Silk/PLA biocomposites was measured by a single fiber micro-droplet debonding test method. The result provided an optimal plasma treatment condition to obtain the improved interfacial adhesion in the Silk/PLA biocomposites.
