  • Slope stability during the excavation of twin road tunnels is considered crucial in terms of safety. In this research, physical model testing and numerical analysis were used to investigate the characteristics of the settlement (uz) and vertical stresses (σz) along the two tunnel sections. First, two model tests for a (fill-rock) slope were conducted to study the settlement and stresses in presence and absence of slope support (plate support system). The law and value of the result were then validated by using a numerical model (FEM) based on the physical model. In addition, a finite element model with a slope supported by piles (equivalent to the plate) was used for comparison purposes. In the physical model, several rows of plates have been added to demonstrate the capacity of these plates to sustain the slope by comparing excavating twin tunnels in supported and unsupported slope, the results show that this support was effective in the upper part of the slope, while in the middle and lower part the support was limited. Additionally, the plates appear to induce less settlement in several areas of the slope with differing settlement and stress distribution as compared to piles. Furthermore, as a results of the previous mentioned investigation, there are many factors influence the stress and settlement distribution, such as the slope's cover depth, movement during excavation, buried structures such as the tunnel lining, plates or piles, and the interaction between all of these components.

  • This article focuses on the Active Plan for Alternative Dispute Resolution(ADR) in financial Dispute. The financial consumers of Korea had suffered greatly from the IMF in 1997 and the global financial crisis in 2008, which also increased financial conflicts significantly. In particular, active financial transaction, due to the development of computer and financial techniques causes frequent consumer financial conflicts. It is beneficial to settle them for judicial economy through an alternative conflict arbitration system instead of lawsuit at the court. Many advanced countries settle financial conflicts through various ADR in their numerous financial conflicts. In the settlement of financial conflict, the ADR system, covering mediation and arbitration, is useful and appropriate. Each governmental institution has various conflict settlement organizations, and it is necessary to operate them effectively. In order to settle financial conflicts properly, it is necessary to study law on financial consumer protection, and it is also necessary to understand practical custom and practical knowledge and to systematize them. Further, it is important to manage financial conflict-related data, to accumulate professional experiences, and to prepare a financial conflict settlement system in order to introduce financial education earlier to the whole nation.

  • This research want to discuss some issues about payment system of America. This research focuses on comparing ACH with Fedwire. Firstly Fedwire is the payment system for only large-dollar transfer(Large-Value Transfer System; LVTS), while ACH(Automated Clearing House)payment mainly applies a consumer account. Secondly ACH transaction is either credit or debit transfer, while Fedwire is only credit transfer. Thirdly the communication system of Fedwire has twoway method, telephonelike communication network, but ACH is oneway store and forward electronic mail. At present LVTS divides into RTGS(Real-Time Gross Settlement) and DNS(Deferred Net Settlement). However Fedwire uses either RTGS(instantaneous for every transaction) or DNS(net net transaction) but ACH uses only DNS(net net transaction). Fourthly ACH is substantially cheaper than the Fedwire payment. lastly security is important in both Fedwire and ACH, it is even more crucial in Fedwire In addition, for each transaction, Fedwire may entail individual instantaneous confirmation to the originator and notification to the receiver, whereas ACH do not.

  • Precast culvert system is generally constructed with a series of process such as excavation, ground mitigation, placement of culverts, anti-leakage packing between adjacent culverts, post-tensioning for PS strands and backfilling. In this process inappropriate ground mitigation often causes differential settlement and, correspondingly, makes water-leakage to be occurred between adjacent boxes. This study was performed to understand the behavioral characteristics of recently proposed precast foundation plate to support precast culvert system through on-site pilot construction. The gap between two adjacent culverts, increment of earth pressure at the bottom of culvert, vertical settlement of top of the culverts were monitored using various sensors. The monitoring results showed that the proposed foundation plate provides better culvert system in the points of less gap development, earth pressure and settlement at the adjacent of two culverts.

  • The conventional reinforced earth retaining wall has the connector system to fix the reinforcement and block. However, this system defect may cause the crack of block and the rupture of reinforcement due to the stress concentration near the face of reinforced earth retaining wall. Hence, the new connector system which was able to allow the settlement of reinforcement was developed in this study and a test was carried out in the study area which is divided into the conventional reinforced earth retaining wall and reinforced Earth Retaining Wall driving the settlement. As the results of field monitoring in situ, the ratio of tensile force calculated at maximum value on contiguous portion of front block showed that the settlement type decreased the stress concentration near the face of front block greater than the conventional type.

  • The urbanization and increasing rate of population demands effective means of transportation system (basement and tunnels) as well as high-rise building (resting on piled foundation) for accommodation. Therefore, it unavoidable to construct basements (i.e., excavation) nearby piled foundation. Since the basement excavation inevitably induces soil movement and stress changes in the ground, it may cause differential settlements to nearby piled raft foundation. To understand settlement and load transfer mechanism in the piled raft due to excavation-induced stress release, numerical parametric studies are carried out in this study. The effects of excavation depths (i.e., formation level) relative to piled raft were investigated by simulating the excavation near the pile shaft (i.e., He/Lp=0.67), next to (He/Lp=1.00) and below the pile toe (He/Lp=1.33). In addition, effects of sand density and raft fixity condition were investigated. The computed results have revealed that the induced settlement, tilting, pile lateral movement and load transfer mechanism in the piled raft depends upon the embedded depth of the diaphragm wall. Additional settlement of the piled raft due to excavation can be account for apparent loss of load carrying capacity of the piled raft (ALPC). The highest apparent loss of piled raft capacity ALPC (on the account of induced piled raft settlement) of 50% was calculated in in case of He/Lp = 1.33. Furthermore, the induced settlement decreased with increasing the relative density from 30% to 90%. On the contrary, the tilting of the raft increases in denser ground. The larger bending moment and lateral force was induced at the piled heads in fixed and pinned raft condition.

  • Recently, as the development of underground spaces has become active due to rapid urbanization and population density, interest in the ground behavior according to the construction of underground spaces is increasing. In large cities with high population density and many buildings, ground subsidence has a great impact on structures and there may be a risk of collapse, so the analysis of ground behavior due to underground construction is essential. Previous studies have been conducted on the subsidence pattern of the surface and the deformation of the tunnel when constructing the tunnel, but analysis has rarely been conducted by using actual topographic information. Therefore, this study analyzed the difference in ground behavior between the actual topography and the flat topography. As a result, it was confirmed that ground settlement occurs at higher elevations, such as in mountainous topography, and when the numerical analysis is performed considering topographical information, the crown settlement of the tunnel is up to about approx. It showed a difference of 10 mm, and it was found that the sensitivity was less in the case of displacement of tunnel wall compared to the crown settlement and ground settlement. The numerical analysis considering the actual GIS-based topographic information presented in this study can be used to obtain more accurate surface subsidence data to understand the behavior of the upper structure due to tunnel excavation.
