  • UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) have an INS(Inertial Navigation System) equipment and also have an electro-optical Equipment for mission. This paper proposes the vision based attitude estimation algorithm using Kalman Filter and Optical flow for UAV. Optical flow is acquired from the movie of camera which is equipped on UAV and UAV's attitude is measured from optical flow. In this paper, Kalman Filter has been used for the settlement of the low reliability and estimation of UAV's attitude. Algorithm verification was performed through experiments. The experiment has been used rate table and real flight video. Then, this paper shows the verification result of UAV's attitude estimation algorithm. When the rate table was tested, the error was in 2 degree and the tendency was similar with AHRS measurement states. However, on the experiment of real flight movie, maximum yaw error was 21 degree and Maximum pitch error was 7.8 degree.

  • In case of an urban tunnel, the displacement of ground base controls the tunnel design because it is built on shallow and unconsolidated ground many times. There are more insufficiency to describe the ground movement which coincides in the measured result of the situ because the design of an urban tunnel is dependent on the method of numerical analysis used to the existing elastic and elasto-plastic models. We studied about the predict ion for the ground movement of a shallow tunnel in unconsolidated ground, mechanism of collapse, and settlement. Also this paper shows comparison with the existing elastic and elasto-plastic model using the unlinear analysis of the strain-softening model. We can model the real ground movement as the increasement of ground surface inclination or occurrence of shear band by using strain-softening model for the result of ground movement of an urban NATM tunnel.

  • Recently, because of the various factors by uncertainty of underground, the risks in tunnelling have been occurred increasingly. Therefore, it is very important to estimate and control the risks considering geotechnical conditions for tunnel stability and environmental problems by tunnel construction. In this study, the risk analysis for tunnel stability was carried out by classifying the risk factors such as ground support capacity, ground settlement, the inflow of groundwater into the tunnel and the damage by the earthquake. Also, the risk assessment for the environmental problems was performed by calculating the vibration and noise by blasting and the drawdown of the groundwater level caused by tunnel construction. Each risk factor was evaluated quantitatively based on the probabilistic and statistic technique, then it was analyzed the distribution characteristic along overall tunnel site. Finally, it was evaluated that how much each risk factor influences on the construction cost with a period for tunnel construction, so it is possible to perform reasonable tunnel design which was capable of minimizing the risks in the tunnel construction.

  • The behaviors of the ground in crossed zone and the existing upper tunnel in shallow cover due to the excavation of new lower tunnel crossed to that was studied. Model test was performed in the large scale test pit, the size was '$4.0m(width){\times}3.8m(height){\times}4.1m(length)$'. Test ground was constructed uniformly by sand in middle density and test with the crossed angle of $56^{\circ}$ (obliquely) were performed. The numerical analysis was performed on equal condition with model test. Results of the study by model test and numerical analysis show that earth pressure and settlement of the ground in crossed zone were redistributed due to the longitudinal arching effect by the excavation of lower tunnel. Model test shows that upper tunnel blocks stress flow due to the longitudinal arching effect by excavation of lower tunnel.

  • This study is focused on finding out the mechanical behavior of pillars and the ground adjacent to the tunnel depending on the central tunnel size and the invert during the construction of 2 arch tunnels in the sandy ground. Model tests were performed in the trap door system, which was composed of 3 separately movable plates. Central pillar was installed on the central movable plate to measure the pillar loads during the excavation of pilot tunnel and the main tunnel. The load-transfer and the loosening load were measured at the bottom plates adjacent to the 2 arch tunnels. The ground settlement and displacement of the tunnel lining were also measured. As results, not only pillar load but also the load transfer mechanism was influenced by the construction sequences, central tunnel size, and the invert.

  • The abandoned mines causing settlement of the surface above and collapse of the cavities are the major influencing factor on the stability of the nearby underground structures. To prevent the harmful effect, the backfill methods are commonly applied to the cavities although the design criteria and the analysis method are not properly addressed in some cases. An approximate analytical method together with the numerical technique is considered in this study to simulate the gradual deterioration of the rock masses around the cavities and, therefore, the influential zone to the underground structures passing through the cavities. Also considered in this study is the backfill effect on the stability of the rock masses around the cavities. Specifically, the incomplete backfill effect is compared with that of the idealized backfill method by adopting elasto-plastic analysis involving a strain softening material law.

  • Recently, considering the aspects of disaster prevention and environmental damage, the construction of a twin tunnel is increasing. When constructing a twin tunnel, the stresses are concentrated at the pillar so that stability of the tunnel is decreased. Since the previous studies on the behavior of a twin tunnel pillar are mainly restricted to the estimation of the tunnel behavior and the analysis of surface settlement, there is a limit to a quantitative stability estimation of the pillar. Therefore, it was quantitatively investigated how the pillar width of a twin tunnel affects its stability. To ensure this end, global tunnel safety factors obtained numerically using shear strength reduction technique, local safety factors of a pillar using the equation that Matsuda et al. suggested, and strength/stress ratios of the pillar were estimated and their results were analyzed for two sections with different rock covers. For a reasonable design of a twin tunnel pillar, it was turned out that strength/stress ratio, the local pillar safety factor, and global tunnel safety factor should be used interrelatedly rather than independently.

  • This paper concerns the deformation behavior of tunnels crossing weak zone during excavation. A three dimensional finite element model was adopted in order to conduct a parametric study on the orientation of weaj zone in terms of strike and dip angle relative to the tunnel longitudinal axis. The results of the analyses were then analyzed so that the tunnel displacements in terms of the ratios between the crown settlement and springline displacement can be related to the orientation of the weak zone. The results indicate that the displacement ratios between the tunnel crown and springline tend to quantitatively change when a weak zone exists near or ahead of the tunnel suggesting that the displacement ratios can be effectively used to predict the weak zone during tunnelling. Practical implications of the findings are discussed.

  • This paper is a part of "A Case Study on The Dwellings and Settlement of Korean Immigrants to North-Eastern Province of China". Among various subjects from the study, this paper covers with the spaces and life style in the dwellings of Korean Immigrants. The purpose of this paper is to discribe how their dwelling culture has been moved and changed to a new environment. One rural village of Korean Immigrants named "Ch'ang-ts'ai" in Yen-pien Province was selected where we investigated more than 110 households. From the formal interview, I collect the data on the family structure, family economic state, dwelling spaces and its use, and dwelling facillities and furniture. From informal interview with key informants, I analyze how they have changed their dwelling spaces and life style since they moved here. Based on the analysis of the data, I conclude that major features of their dwelling and life style has been moved from Korean penninsula, specially from 'Hamkyong' Province where their ancestor has lived. This features are summarized as follows: a. Dwelling spaces and its functions are simillar to typical dwelling type of Hamkyong Province. b. They use "Chong-ji" for both a cooking space and a major living space. c. They have a life style of sitting on the floor. d. Bedrooms are differentiated with male and female. e. Most of their dwelling facillities and furniture arc different from those of Chinese in the same province. Since they immigrated, there has been some social changes which could influence on making their dwelling culture. But they have preserved their cultural identity on their dwellings and life style. So I suggest that the dwelling culture of a society would be seldom changed by immigration, as long as they will be given similar conditions such as the independent ethnic community, the same ecosystem, and economical autonomy.

  • Changing drastically, the life in a modern city has forced citizens to gradually shorten their average period of settlement, which has weakened the identity of city habitation, thus causing serious crimes and damaging the security of city greatly. Haying a highly composite structure with not only macro, but micro characteristics, city is grasped as a very composite phenomenon shown in the social, economic and spatial constitution relationships, including the personal motives of criminals. Accordingly, this study puts stress on the necessity of any crime prediction program to predict the occurrence of crimes by analyzing the occurrence patterns of sharply increasing intra-city crimes of violence on a typical, time and spatial basis and clarifying their structural dynamic relationships in a both macro and micro manner. Moreover, the deduction of various factors closely related to crime occurrence will contribute to elucidating the occurrence structure of city crimes.
