Application of Adaptive Loop Filter for NRT-Based Stereoscopic Video Coding (비실시간 기반 스테레오스코픽 비디오 부호화를 위한 적응루프필터 적용기법)

  • A stereoscopic 3D video service is able to provide a 3D video service while keeping backward compatibility with the existing 2D video service. In the terrestrial digital television (DTV) system, a stereoscopic video codec is required to have high coding efficiency in order to provide a 3D video service in the same channel capacity. A hybrid codec consisting of MPEG-2 for base video and H.264/AVC or HEVC for 3D auxiliary video is considered. Furthermore, Non-Real-Time (NRT) delivery of stereoscopic video is also considered as a service scenario for 3DTV services to overcome the limited bandwidth. In this paper, we propose a stereoscopic video coding scheme using adaptive loop filter (ALF) which had been considered in HEVC as a pre-/post-filter for enhancing coding efficiency in NRT-based 3DTV services. In order to apply ALF as a post-filter to the reconstructed additional view coded by H.264/AVC, we devise a method in which ALF is adaptively applied based on a structure determined by using macroblock (MB) coding information such as MB mode type and reference index instead of coding unit (CU) structure on which ALF is applied in the HEVC. Experimental results shows that the proposed stereoscopic video coding scheme applying ALF obtains up to 24.9% gain of bit saving.

  • We present the system architecture for service collision avoidance and propose the modified service session table and service collision avoidance scheme. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme reduces the number of unnecessary service request messages and service provisioning delivery time. Therefore Personal Server (PS) uses the battery efficiently and can use the service rapidly.

  • This study looks for the requirements for adaptive courseware and provides background for developing effective adaptive courseware. Most adaptive courseware does not adequately reflect the requirements of learners. If it properly reflected learners' requirements well, it could be used more effectively. therefore, this study analyzes and suggests the requirements of an adaptive courseware for pre-service teachers who are majoring in computer education. The study methods were factor analysis and frequency analysis through survey. The results show that the important elements of an adaptive courseware are a learning style designed according to individual differences as well as an instruction model appropriate to the subject domain. The study examined adaption by learner level, by learning objective, by learning style, by method of learning content, and by learning history in that order. Therefore while the most of adaptive courseware support learning style; we propose that the adaptive courseware will support learning objects and instruction model as well.

  • In this paper we suggest the adaptive QoS-based VOD system design, which can diagnose and reflect the variable network situation. This system is based on the changeable Forward Error Correction(FEC) coding and re-transmission to enhance system quality by using the measured real-time network value such as loss, delay and jitter.

  • 본 논문에서는 링크 상황에 따라서 변복조 방식과 코딩 방식을 달리하는 기술인 AMC(Adaptive Modulation and Coding)기능과 연동하는 2 단계 ARQ(Automatic Repeat Request)방식을 제안하여 한정된 무선채널을 여러 종류의 서비스와 여러 가입자가 동시에 공유하는 경우에 발생되는 QoS(Quality of Service) 문제를 해결하고자 한다. 제안한 2 단계 ARQ 방식은 MAC(Medium Access Control) 계층에 위치하여 상위 계층으로부터 IP(Internet Protocol) packet 를 수신한 후 2 단계의 ARQ 동작을 수행함으로써 물리 채널에서 전송 중에 발생되는 오류 확률을 감소시킨다. 따라서 TCP(Transmission Control Protocol)단에서의 재전송 감소에 의한 향상된 성능도 기대할 수가 있겠다.

  • A common network such as internet does not provide a guaranteed network bandwidth to accommodate multimedia service in a reliable fashion. In this paper, we propose a new rate control mechanism for multimedia service on the internet which is adaptive to the dynamic QoS in real-time. Also we adapt an QoS monitoring module and real-time transmission control module to adapt dynamic network bandwidth. To do this, we used layer attribution of media data and also considered loss rate and buffer threshold in receiver side for measurement of dynamic QoS.

  • Nowadays it is possible to make realization of Multimedia service by virtue of developing computer hardware technique and high-bandwidth network. But Multimedia service has some problems. Its file need large storage. Above all, Analog CCTV used in recent has been utilized for various purpose in ban, company and public institution, but this has many defects such as management, low resolution, and etc. To overcome this problems, multimedia component-file-have to be reduced in size. This paper proposes adaptive MPEG-1 video to reduce file size. The method in this paper is realized that according to movement variation, file size is reduced by adaptively making use of MQuant.
