  • The purposes of this study were to investigate the gap in perceived importance-performance between dietitians and food service workers regarding school food service sanitation and to analyze items that should be given priority for improvement. Data were collected by 440 food service workers and 71 dietitians in Gyeongbuk province. All statistical analyses were conducted using the SAS package program (version 8.2 for Windows) for descriptive analysis, t-test, and importance-performance analysis (IPA). According to the performance analysis, there were significant differences between dietitians and food service workers in 18 out of the 20 items. In all of 18 items, the evaluated performance scores according to the food service workers were higher than those of the dietitians. In addition, the results of IPA confirmed the following areas as improvement priorities: proper hand washing of food service workers, cleanliness of trays and utensils, monitoring of temperature of refrigerated/frozen foods and quality of the food materials during inspection, proper washing and disinfection of raw vegetables and fruits and maintenance of CCP records, and control of food holding temperature and methods. In conclusion, dietitians should perform education about sanitation management items that have low perceived importance and should make a plan to improve sanitation management after understanding the gap in perceived importance-performance between dietitians and food service workers.

  • The necessity of research for EA service and performance is surfacing while nation-level and individual agency level performances utilizing Government-wide EA information. In this study, performance model for EA service has been developed categorizing characteristic elements of EA as service. And weight differences between quality items that constitute performance model have been calculated using AHP analysis method. To achieve the stated, SERVQUAL applied performance model for EA service has been developed working through logical reasoning and a broad range of theoretical studies concerning EA service. Moreover, relative weight differences between quality items that constitute the model have been calculated. The results of weight analysis find that importance differences between quality items in order of significance are as follows: EA administrator > EA information > EA education > EA policy > EA operating system. This study, as the nation's first research to graft the public-sector EA service onto SERVQUAL Model that is capturing remarkable attention, has considerable practical and theoretical implications.

  • In recent years, service delivery systems employing a self-service approach have been rapidly spreading. Since a self-service system provides a lower product price, it attracts more customers. However, some system managers are still hesitant to accept a self-service system, because there is no systematic model to predict its performance. Therefore, this research attempts to provide a systematic and quantitative model to predict the performance of a self-service system, focused specifically on a self-service gas station. Under this model, the traditional queuing theory was adopted to describe the general self-service process, but it is also assumed that some changes occur in both the customer arrival rate and the service performance rate. In particular, the price elasticity was introduced to capture the change in the customer arrival rate, and the existence of learning effect and helpers were assumed to design the changed service performance rate. Under these assumptions, a simulation model for a self-service gas station is established, and three performance measurements, such as average number of customers, average waiting time, and Utilization are observed, depending on the changes in price difference and helper-operating time. In this research, the optimal operation strategy for price differentiation and helper-operating time is proposed in accordance with the level of the customer learning rate. Although this research confines the scope of the study to the self-service gas station model, the results of this research can be applied to any type of self-service system.

  • The importance of voucher service evaluation is increasing with the expansion of voucher, but the previous studies on performance evaluation could not reflect the characteristics of voucher. But there is no study on the factors affecting voucher performance. Thus, this study focuses on the empirical analysis of voucher program performance and analysed the factors affecting voucher satisfaction. Data used in this study is collected form 70 social service agencies that deliver voucher service and 1445 service users in Community-Development voucher service in Community Service Investment Program. The methods applied in this study are Hierarchial Linear Model(HLM) using service user variables(level 1) and service agency variables(level 2). These variables are extracted from the previous studies on performance of social welfare service and voucher service. The findings show that user's satisfaction is influenced by level 1 variables such as sex, need and also influenced by level 2 variables of service type and area* organization type. On these analysis, this study gives policy implication.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of the psychological empowerment of security guards to their service orientation and organizational performance. The subjects in this study were 300 security guards who were selected by purposive sampling from the population that consisted of the workers in private security agencies located in the cities of Chungan and Ahsan in 2011. After a survey was conducted, the answer sheets from 271 respondents were analyzed. The statistical package SPSS WIN 18.0 was employed to make a factor analysis, reliability analysis, multiple regression analysis and path analysis. The findings of the study were as follows: First, psychological empowerment affected service orientation. Better meaning and better self-determination led to better service human resources management, better service leadership and better service encounter management. Second, psychological empowerment exerted an influence on organizational performance. Stronger impact and better meaning led to stronger organizational commitment, higher job satisfaction and better performance. Third, service orientation had an impact on organizational performance. Better service human resources management, better service leadership and better service encounter management were followed by stronger organizational commitment, better job satisfaction and higher performance. Fourth, psychological empowerment exercised a firsthand and secondhand influence on service orientation and organizational performance. Given the findings of the study, managers of security agencies should keep in mind the unique working environments of employees, and they should empower employees to show what they can do in consideration of their changing working environments and let them assume the responsibility for their own job performance. That will encourage them to provide better service for customers, which will serve, in turn, to bolster the organizational performance.
