A parallel resonant dc link inverter, one of the many resonant inverters, has some superior characteristics in camparision with other resonant inverters. But loss of the resonant oscillation and occurrence of high peak voltage in the resonant capacitor of these inverters are serious problems. In this paper, we investigate a control method for resonant dc link inverters which can overcome these problems. Experimental results are presented to show superior operation of the resonant dc link inverter using the proposed control method.

The production activity by human is accompanied by various accidents which resulted in human and property loss. If information on these industrial accidents could be collected and analyzed for the purpose of preventing industrial accidents, we would be able to get rid of industrial accidents. The accidents which involved absence from work at least 4 days in small manufacturing factories were considered in this study. 84 accidents which occurred in 1995 were investigated. These accidents were analyzed in terms of employment sector, work period, cause of accident and form of accident. The accidents of small manufacturing factories are numerous and are often serious and worthy of greater attention than they have received. Successful strategies for accident prevention depend on effective analysis.

Regarding menopause as a turning point in woman's lift, the author reviewed the psychosocial aspects of menopause. Seeing menstruation as the symbolic meaning of female sexuality, psychoanalysts argue that menopause, the loss of symbolic meaning of female sexuality, may bring a mourning reaction to woman. It is reported that the high ratio of depression does not have a serious relationship with the menopause syndrome, and that depression cannot be viewed as a different symptoms. It is also proved that most women successfully recover themselves from temporary menopause symptom. Research data shows that some women have a negative thought on the meaning of menopause. Others, however, have a positive concept on the meaning of menopause because of the feeling of release and freedom. In sum, the author suggests that psychosocial consideration is very important as much as bilogical consideration in considering the meaning of menopausal syndrome.

As industires are evolving into a more advanced type industrial system, service economy has been more emphasized. But with the expansion of the service economy, the failure of the service has also increased. Customers flee caused by the service failure leads to from simple problems like financial loss to serious problems like damaging corporate image. Therefore, if possible, the system providing defect-free service should be established. If this is not possible, preventive measures should be taken in order to minimize the failure. The study as a tool to prevent service failure presents the concepts "service error matrix." And to confirm whether this idea is practical or not, this study investigated the hotel, one of the leading service industries, about actually occurring service failure and applied to service error matrix suggested in this study. Finally service blueprint and Poka-yoke are completed in order to reduce service failure of Y hotel which was the object of the interview for this study.

It is known that over 60% of engine power is dissipated into circumstance, cooling water and cooling oil without any conversion into useful work. Following the first law of thermodynamics, it is possible that heat loss to cooling water can be converted into mechanical work through crankshaft. But in case that the engine is operating without any cooling effect, the serious problem unsolved so far is the engine durability. In this study, LHR(Low Heat Rejection) engine was introduced as one of the promising engine and several useful qualitative and quantitative data were drawn.

Recently, two-port time-domain passivity approach was modified for time-varying communication delay. The newly proposed approach could achieve stable teleoperation even under the serious time-varying delay and packet loss communication condition. However, after some operation hour, the accumulated energy difference between the input energy from one port and the output energy at the other port caused unstable behavior until the passivity controller is activated. Resetting scheme is introduced for solving this problem, and stable bilateral teleoperation can be guaranteed without worrying about the accumulated energy difference.

The stabbing guide is often used to guide an add-on pile into an existing pile in offshore jacket installation. It provides a pile alignment for a welding tie-in in static condition as well. Even stabbing guide is an essential component in pile installation, it is not considered as a permanent offshore structure. In this regard, there is not a define design guideline proposed. In API RP 2A WSD, it briefly define the design considerations of stabbing guide. The failure of stabbing guide can cause a greate economical loss and a serious impact to the project schedule. Stabbing guide design should consider many factors considering actual work conditions for both static and dynamic situations. In the paper, a design method is proposed by appling the plate theory and it is confirmed numerically with FEM modeling. The geometry of stabbing guide is assumed as a cylinder shape with various wall thickness and effective length. The various thickness, effective length and pile size are compared for stable stabbing guide design.

From a practical perspective, sustainable development requires the optimization of current natural resources and the minimization of derived wastes. A major concern with respect to sustainable infrastructure development is the continued depletion of easily-available natural resources and environmental matters are more serious, the concerned about waste materials which are inevitably produced in the manufacturing of the product is getting worse. These wastes must be handled and properly disposed, and many times, although this waste may be environmentally inert, it has been discarded in landfills. But current disposal methods of these by-products create not only a loss of profit for the power industry, but also environmental concerns the breed negative public opinion. therefore, this study evaluates the ECO artificial aggregate and bricks were designed and tested for the end use of fly ash.

Every ship might be exposed to collision, grounding and/or various accidents. They may make some underwater holes on the hull. An underwater damage would cause her loss of buoyancy, trim, and inclination. Although a ship has some provisions against these accidents, if the circumstance is serious, she would be sunk or upsetted. Because of varieties of type of accidents, one could not prepare all of them. Many subdivision could prevent them, but it is difficult to realize it due to rising costs. This paper deals with physical phenomena of sinkage and an application on box type ship, and some results are earned as follows； 1. sinkage speed up to the level of the damage hole is increased proportionally, and is decreased proportionally after filling the level. 2. the curve of draft shows cup type of second order polynomial up to the damage hole level, and shows cap type of second order polynomial after filling the level. 3. if damage occurs beneath half of the draft, changes of head and displacement, and sinking speed follow almost straight lines. 4. by careful observation, sinkage speed could be predicted.

In mobile communication repeaters, very small size with sharp skirt response is needed as the BPF performances. The passband flatness of the proper BPF becomes very bad due to the low value of the resonator Q-factor used in the BPF. Which could girt serious level unbalance between channels. This flatness problem can he solved by a kind of compensated filler, which has 'reverse-curve'or 'concave shape'as the passband response. In this paper, the design method of the proposed 'concave bandpass filter'without matching and loss problems is presented. The designed and fabricated filter can properly and easily compensate the convex or bad flat passband response.
