  • This paper has investigated the speed sensorless indirect vectorcontrol of a two-phase induction motor to implement adjustable-speed drive for low-power applications. The sliding mode observer estimates rotor speed. The convergence of the nonlinear time-varying observer along with the asymptotic stability of the controller has been analyzed. To define the control action which maintains the motion on the sliding manifold, an "equivalent control" concept is used. It has been simulated and implemented on a sensorless indirect vector drive for 150W two-phase induction motor. The simulation and experimental results demonstrate effectiveness of the estimation method.

  • Permanent magnet brushless motor is widely used in industrial drive applications due to high efficiency, high power ratio, and easy maintenance. Position and speed sensors required in this dolor increase the drive cost, and reduce the application range. Some papers present the sensorless speed control using DSP with a high processing performance. However, DSP increases the cost, and makes the implementation difficult. This study has performed the sensorless speed control with a microprocessor system which can be easily accessed.

  • In this industrial induction motor speed and torque controlled drive system, the closed loop control usually requires the measurement of speed or position of amotor. However a sensorless drive of an induction motor has several advantages ; low cost and mechanical simplicity. Thus this paper investigates a field oriented control method without speed and flux sensors. The proposed control strategy is based on the Model Reference Adaptive System(MRAS) using a new flux estimator which replaces integrators with two lag circuits as the reference model. This algorithm may overcome several shortages of conventional MRAS such as integrator problems, small EMF at low speed. The simulation and experimental results indicate good speed responses.

  • Generally, brushless DC motor(BLDCM) driving system uses hall sensors or encoders as the mechanical position or speed sensors. It is necessary to achieve the informations of rotor position for driving trapezoidal type brushless DC motor without any position sensor. This paper proposes a sensorless driving system with rotor absolute position detector circuit which acquires both commutate phase and commutate time by analyzing motor phase voltages. Proposed system is applied to a 10k[W] rating motor which actually used in electrical vehicles of HONDA co.,ltd. The experimental results will show the validity of the proposed system and the practical use of proposed sensorless drive algorithm.

  • This Paper propose a novel sensorless drive system for the trapezoidal brushless DC motor in Bow speed region. The inverter DC input voltage is controlled by step-down converter for low speed operation. A indirect rotor position sensing technique based on a detailed analysis of the terminal voltage characterisrics is proposed in this paper. A sensorless drive system is implemented using a TMS320F240 for the main process and IPM(Intelligent Power Module) for the inverter.

  • A sensorless drive has serveral advantages; low cost and mechanical simplicity. This paper studies a comparison between observer and Kalman filter for sensorless speed control of induction motor. The simulation result generally shows good performances in the both sensoless control strategies. In case of considering noises, EKF algorithm shows a better performance. In case of considering parameter variation, observer algorithm shows a better performance.

  • A method to control the speed or the torque of a permanent-magnet direct current motor is presented. The rotor speed and the external torque estimation are simultaneously provided by appropriate observers. The sensorless control scheme is based on current measurement and switching states of power devices. The observers performances are dependent on the accurate machine parameters knowledge. Sliding mode control approach was adopted for drive control, providing the suitable switching states to the chopper power devices. Despite the predictable chattering, a convenient first order switching function was considered enough to define the sliding surface and to correspond with the desired control specifications and drive performance. The experimental implementation was supported on a single dsPIC and the controller includes a logic overcurrent protection.

  • In a conventional speed sensorless stator flux-oriented(SFO) induction motor drive system, when the estimated speed is transformed into the sample-data model using the first-forward difference approximation, the sampled data model has a modeling error which, in turn, produces an error in the rotor speed estimation. The error included in the estimated speed is removed by the use of a low pass filter (LPF). As the result, the delay of the estimated speed occurs in transients by the use of the LPF This paper investigates the problem of a conventional speed sensorless SFO system due to the delay of estimated speed in the filed weakening region. In addition, this paper proposes a method to estimate exactly speed by using Luenberger observer, The proposed method is verified by experiment with a 5-hp induction motor drive.

  • This paper describes a novel method of detecting excitation position in Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) drive. Some strategics for position sensorless control methods of the SRM include the measurement of phase current. The principle of the rotor position estimation is based on the defection of phase current according to rotor position. This sensorless method is very simple to detect excitation position estimation and gives efficient control of drive system. The suggested method is verified by some simulations and experimental tests
