A Path Generation Algorithm of an Automatic Guided Vehicle Using Sensor Scanning Method

  • In this paper, a path generation algorithm that uses sensor scannings is described. A scanning algorithm for recognizing the ambient environment of the Automatic Guided Vehicle (AGV) that uses the information from the sensor platform is proposed. An algorithm for computing the real path and obstacle length is developed by using a scanning method that controls rotating of the sensors on the platform. The AGV can recognize the given path by adopting this algorithm. As the AGV with two-wheel drive constitute a nonholonomic system, a linearized kinematic model is applied to the AGV motor control. An optimal controller is designed for tracking the reference path which is generated by recognizing the path pattern. Based on experimental results, the proposed algorithm that uses scanning with a sensor platform employing only a small number of sensors and a low cost controller for the AGV is shown to be adequate for path generation.

센서 독립형 센서노드 플랫폼 구조 (A Sensor Node Platform Architecture Supporting Sensor Independency)

  • Recently, USN applications are in the early stage of commercialization. But, there are still several problems to develop USN applications. It is mainly due to the current development scheme that solution vendors makes all of them including HW, SW, sensor modules. The development of USN applications could be revitalized if three entities such as PC platform developers, PC device vendors, and application developers would do their best as in PC development. In this paper, we suggest an sensor node platform architecture supporting sensor independency to overcome the difficulty of developing USN applications. Traditional platforms like Tiny-OS and Nano-Q+ do not support such sensor independency. At first, we present a unified API for sensor independency, and also suggest an architecture to support sensor independancy. Our architecture results in the revitalization of developing USN applications.

  • Recent advancement in wireless communications and electronics has enabled the development of low power sensor network. Wireless sensor network are often used in remote monitoring control applications, health care, security and environmental monitoring. Wireless sensor networks are an emerging technology consisting of small, low-power, and low-cost devices that integrate limited computation, sensing, and radio communication capabilities. Sensor network platform for health care has been designed, fabricated and tested. This system consists of an embedded micro-controller, Radio Frequency (RF) transceiver, power management, I/O expansion, and serial communication (RS-232). The hardware platform uses Atmel ATmega128L 8-bit ultra low power RISC processor with 128KB flash memory as the program memory and 4KB SRAM as the data memory. The radio transceiver (Chipcon CC1000) operates in the ISM band at 433MHz or 916MHz with a maximum data rate of 76.8kbps. Also, the indoor radio range is approximately 20-30m. When many sensors have to communicate with the controller, standard communication interfaces such as Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) or Integrated Circuit ($I^{2}C$) allow sharing a single communication bus. With its low power, the smallest and low cost design, the wireless sensor network system and wireless sensing electronics to collect health-related information of human vitality and main physiological parameters (ECG, Temperature, Perspiration, Blood Pressure and some more vitality parameters, etc.)

  • 최근 환경 감시용 센서장치, 유비쿼터스 센서 네트워크, 지능형 로봇의 센서와 같이 다양한 분야에서 센서를 이용한 감지, 검출 시스템이 날로 증가하고 있다. 센서 데이터는 센서의 물리적 상태 변화나 화학적 반응을 통하여 측정하게 된다. 하지만 센서의 노후화나 다양한 측정 환경으로 인하여 데이터 오류가 발생할 문제점이 있다. 따라서 센서 데이터의 신뢰성 확보가 필요하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 다양한 센서에 적용 가능한 신뢰성 있는 센서 신호 처리 플랫폼을 제안하고자 한다. 신뢰성 확보를 위하여 다수의 동일 센서를 복수의 어레이 구조로 배치하고 사용하였다. 여러 센서의 측정된 데이터의 시간적 상관관계와 공간적 상관관계를 이용하는 신호처리 알고리즘을 이용하여 센서 데이터를 보정함으로써 센서 데이터의 신뢰성을 향상 시켰다. 또한 다양한 환경에서 센서의 이상 유무 확인 및 데이터를 확인하기 위하여 플랫폼 구성요소 간 통신을 위한 전용 프로토콜을 개발하였다.

센서 네트워크를 위한 자바 가상 기계 (A Java Virtual Machine for Sensor Networks)

  • Sensor network consists of a large number of sensor node distributed in the environment being sensed and controlled. The resource-constrained sensor nodes tend to have various and heterogeneous architecture. Thus, it is important to make its software environment platform-independent and reprogrammable. In this paper, we present BeeVM, a Java operating system designed for sensor networks. BeeVM offers a platform-independent Java programming environment with its efficiently executable file format and a set of class APIs for basic operating functions, sensing and wireless networking. BeeVM's high-level native interface and layered network subsystem allow complex program for sensor network to be short and readable. Our platform has been ported on two currently popular hardware platforms and we show its effectiveness through the evaluation of a simple application.

  • Hybrid acceleration-impedance sensor nodes on Imote2-platform are designed for damage monitoring in steel girder connections. Thus, the feasibility of the sensor nodes is examined about its performance for vibration-based global monitoring and impedance-based local monitoring in the structural systems. To achieve the objective, the following approaches are implemented. First, a damage monitoring scheme is described in parallel with global vibration-based methods and local impedance-based methods. Second, multi-scale sensor nodes that enable combined acceleration-impedance monitoring are described on the design of hardware components and embedded software to operate. Third, the performances of the multi-scale sensor nodes are experimentally evaluated from damage monitoring in a lab-scaled steel girder with bolted connection joints.

한 개의 선형 여유센서를 갖는 스튜어트 플랫폼의 실시간 순기구학 (Real-Time Forward Kinematics of the 6-6 Stewart Platform with One Extra Linear Sensor)

  • This paper presents the closed-form forward kinematics of the 6-6 Stewart platform of planar base and moving platform. Based on algebraic elimination method and with one extra linear sensor, it first derives an 8th-degree univariate equation and then finds tentative solution sets out of which the actual solution is to be selected. In order to provide more exact solution despite the error between measured sensor value and the theoretical one, a correction method is also used. The overall procedure requires so little computation time that it can be efficiently used for realtime applications. In addition, unlike the iterative schemes e.g. Newton-Raphson, the algorithm does not require initial estimates of solution and is free of the problems that it does not converge to actual solution within limited time. The presented method has been implemented in C language and a numerical example is given to confirm the effectiveness and accuracy of the developed algorithm.

  • A stewart platform-based force/torque sensor with 6 elastic legs was designed and manufactured Kinematic design parameters were determined so that the force/torque sensor might have the isotropic force/torque properities. In a force/torque analysis, it was used the solution of forward kinematics by linearization of the solution of the inverse kinematics. The performance of te force/torque sensor was investigated by measurement experiments. The gravity compensation was conducted to reduce the force and torque effects by the weights of the upper plate, joints and other sensor parts.

  • This paper describes the design of an asynchronous implementation of a sensor network processor. The main purpose of this work is the reduction of power consumption in sensor network node processors and the research presented here tries to explore the suitability of asynchronous circuits for this purpose. The Handshake Solutions toolkit is used to implement an asynchronous version of a sensor processor. The design is made compact, trading area and leakage power savings with dynamic power costs, targeting the typical sparse operating characteristics of sensor node processors. It is then compared with a synchronous version of the same processor. Both versions are then compared with existing commercial processors in terms of power consumption.

AHRS를 이용한 스튜어트 플랫폼의 평형 유지 시스템 (A balance maintain system of Stewart platform using AHRS)

  • 본 논문에서는 AHRS(Attitude and Heading Reference System) 센서를 이용하여 스튜어트 플랫폼으로 구성된 평면의 평형상태를 유지시키는 시스템을 소개한다. 움직이는 선박이나 차량에서 구조물이 지면의 기울기에 상관없이 항상 평형상태를 유지하도록 하기 위하여 자세 제어를 하는 역학적 기기로 스튜어트 플랫폼을 사용하였다. 그리고 현재의 기울어진 각도를 알아내고 보정하기 위하여 AHRS 센서를 이용하였다. AHRS센서와 스튜어트 플랫폼 제어 간의 피드백 시스템을 구성하여 자동으로 스튜어트 플랫폼의 위쪽 판넬이 평형을 이루는 시스템을 제작하였다.
