Recently taping robot with smart recognition function have been studied in the coil manufacturing field. Due to the difficulty of 3D surface processing from the complicated working environment, it is not easy to accomplish smart tape attachment motion with non-contact sensor. To solve these problems the applicable surface recognition algorithm and a flexible sensing device has been recommended. In this research, the fusion method between 1D displacement and 3D laser scanner is applied for robust tape attachment about cold rolled coil. With these sensors we develop a two-step exploration and the smart algorithm for the awareness of non-aligned coil's information. In the proposed robot system for tape attachment, the problem is reduced to coil's radius searching with laser displacement sensor at first, and then position and orientation detection with 3D laser scanner. To get the movement at the robot's base frame, the hand-eye compensation between robot's end effector and sensing device should be also carried out respectively. In this paper, we examine the auto-coordinate transformation method in the calibration step for the real environment usage. From the experimental results, it was shown that the taping motion of robot had a robust under the non-aligned cold rolled coil.

In the sensor networks, the first step in the signal processing is noise reduction. It is obvious that the noise in the sensing data by sensor nodes have a bad effect on the collaborative signal processing results. In this paper we propose noise reduction filters for the wireless sensor networks. The proposed filters use only relative distance information between sensor nodes thus it is very simple in complexity and easy to implement. Also it will be able to extend the sensor network life time by adjusting communication radius of sensors within proper limit to reduce consuming power. Various simulation results are presented to verify our approaches, we observed that the proposed filters can reduce the effect of the noise on the sensing data.
The primary purpose of this study is, using Landsat remote sensing data and a image processing software, ERDAS, to generate real data and image photographs on physical land use of the Seoul metropolitan region. The remote sensing data used in this study are Landsat MSS data (August 28, 1979) and TM data (May 31, 1991) which cover the Seoul metropolitan region of Korea. The spatial resolutions of MSS data and TM data are 57m X 79m and 30m X 30m respectively. In addition, this study aims at contrasting urbanization phases of the Seoul metropolitan region in 1979 with those in 1991, by making image photographs and statistics on physical land use. Summing up the major results, built-up area ratio within the Seoul city had been expanded from 41.9% in 1979 to 64.5% in 1991 and that within the radius of 40km of Seoul city hall had been expanded from 10.5% In 1979 to 19.8% in 1991. The data and technique developed in this study could serve as a useful tool in making various kinds of spatial plannings, that is, urban and regional planning, selection of optimal new town location, evaluation of public facilities location alternatives, etc..

UHF and microwave RFID systems are widely applied in various fields because they can read a plurality of tag information within a radius of several meters ahead of the RFID reader. However, they cannot detect the position of the tag in applications that recognize only a tag at a specific position. In this study, we propose a new RFID system that can interrogate the tag of a specific location selectively by using the position information of the tag. This can be done by only adjusting the reader's operating frequency. To verify the feasibility of the proposed system, we implemented a 2.4 GHz RFID reader whose frequency can be varied by using a phase-locked loop circuit and a backscattered tag. Experimental results confirm that the tag position can be sensed exactly.

In this paper, a minimum rotation radius was designed and fabricated to overcome the threshold so that elderly or disabled people who have difficulty moving can move and transfer safely and conveniently in a narrow room. In the indoor environment, where the sedentary culture develops, this study aimed to provide convenience for passengers with fracture diseases, geriatric diseases, and other knee and waist diseases. First, links, seats, armrests, covers, motors, batteries, chargers, controllers, etc. were attached to the frame so that they could be moved and lifted indoors. The product design and structure were designed considering the user's environment and physical characteristics, and IoT functions were added. A driving experiment was performed to confirm the operating performance of the manufactured indoor moving and lifting wheelchair. The performance tests, such as continuous running time, turning radius, maximum actuator load, maximum lift height, sound pressure level, minimum sensing distance of the driving aid sensor, interworking of server and app programs, device compatibility, and duty cycle error rate, were performed. As a result of the test, the built-in wheelchair could achieve the performance test target of each item and operate successfully.
Intelligent schemes for an automatic generation of DEM (digital elevation model) are implemented. The need for these post-processing schemes is that interpolation alone produces severe blunders, however sophisticated it is. These blunders occur most seriously along the boundaries of a scene, over rivers, and along the coast. Even a state-of-the-art commercial software retains such blunders. The intelligent schemes implemented are (1) center-of-gravity and empty-center-index which quantify how evenly distributed interpolants are within in interpolation radius. (2) a segmentation scheme to discern whether or not an empty segment in stereo-match results should be interpolated, and (3) a segmentation scheme for removing noise-like features, with these methods, in the final DEM, identical coastline and river region to those in the original SPOT scenes are achieved. The DEM exhibits substantial improvements over the products of an existing commercial software.
Radiative transfer modeling of ice clouds is developed. Ice clouds located near tropopause reflect most of sunlight, thus atmospheric and surface effects can be minimized. Cloud properties such as cloud optical thickness (COT) and effective radius are important parameters to determine the magnitude of reflectance, while atmospheric and surface parameters rarely affect reflectance value. For selected homogeneous cloud pixels of MODerate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) observation, reflectances are calculated using MODIS cloud products as inputs of radiative transfer model (RTM). For three types of phase function (Henyey-Greenstein, Garcia-Siewert, Baum) calculated reflectances are compared with observations for validation. All cases show linear relationship between simulated values and measured values, however each represent different bias and slope. The result shows that phase function determine angular distribution of reflectance.
The null lens is designed for testing the elliptical (conic constant>O) mirror which is the third mirror of the off-axis Three Mirror Anastigmat (TMA) designed as a high resolution camera for remote sensing. The mixed type design is proposed as a new design type which has a small annular flat mirror, but has as twice sensitivity as the autostigmatic type design. It is also shown that the null lens of the Mixed type is better than that of the autostigmatic type in terms of the sensitivity of the wavefront distortion which is given as the magnitude of optical path difference with respect to the change of each surface parameters such as the radius of curvature, thickness of lenses and tested mirror.

The column-type sensing element in building and mechanical construction parts was designed as three forces and three moments sensor by attaching strain gages approximately. Compared to conventional multi-component sensor, the designed sensor has high stiffness and low cost. The radius of the column was designed analytically and compared with finite element analysis. The interference errors between components were minimized by using addition and subtraction procedure of signals. The fabricated sensor was tested by using a deadweight force standard machine and a six-component force calibration machine. The calibration results showed that the 6-component forces and moments sensor had interference error less than 7.3 % between $F_x$ and $M_x$ components, and 5.0 % in case of other components.

Uneven clearances in the left and right sides of a press die cause deformation of the punch in precision shearing process. This deformation results from the compression stress and bending moment from shearing force in vertical direction and from the side force in horizontal direction acting to the punch, In this study the behavior of punch deformation is investigated in order to clarify the deformation state of the punch by using strain gauge deformation to shearing force side force bending moment radius of curvature and shear plane of the punch. Also we presented the calculation method of deformation size for the punch.
