Methods: The target people were chosen and visited on February, 2011. We could meet them at a community health center in Jeonnam. The questionnaire answered by 321 was conducted to figure out the degree of depression. Also, physical fitness using senior fitness test was measured. This study was analyzed using $x^2$ test, Fisher exact test, t-test and Pearson's correlation coefficient by SAS program. Results: It was analyzed that distribution of depression was 31.9%, and depression was correlated with upper flexibility (p<.001). There was no significant relation to physical fitness by depression except weight (p=.039) and back scratch (p=.007) as well. Conclusion: These results can not only contribute to understanding of the depression of the elderly women, but also suggest that depression prevention program is necessary for them.

  • The population of Korea is ageing as the number of elderly people increases due to improvements in health care and diet. Accordingly, it is expected that interest in how to live actively during the years after retirement and how to communicate effectively will increase the demand for voice improvement methods and technology. However, the criteria to evaluate the voice strength and characteristics of the elderly are lacking. In this study, we analyzed the acoustic characteristics of elderly women living in the community according to residential status and mental health status (e.g. depressive mood). Accordingly, we selected women (n=63) above the age of 65 age who were living in the Seoul metropolitan area and Daegu Gyeongbuk. The selected subjects were divided into two groups: a normal speaker group (n=40) and a speaker group comprised of those suffering from depressive mood (n=23). This study analyzed the voice characteristics of subjects based on collected data through the sustained phonation of the vowel /a/. It was shown that there were differences among MPT, F0, Jitter, Shimmer and NHR depending on location of residence but no difference with regard to depressive mood. Therefore, we must consider location of residence in elderly as the key factor in demonstrating the voice norms of seniors.

  • Purpose: This descriptive research was conducted to identify educational needs in pediatric nursing handoff training to improve students' handoff skills. Methods: Data were collected using a survey with 188 senior nursing students and 48 pediatric nursing professors and clinical nurses. The survey included items on general information as well as experiences in handoff training, necessity, training content, and items for a handoff training program in pediatric nursing. Results: Of the nursing students, 30.5% reported receiving handoff training during their clinical hours. After their handoff training, the students' confidence index was only 3.78 out of 10. Significantly, 98.3% of the respondents said that pediatric handoff training is necessary. In addition, participants reported that simulation practice (26.5%) is an appropriate educational method, and the time required for handoff training should be 8.16 hrs. Admission process was placed first as the most critical circumstance for handoff (56.8%). High demands were observed for the necessity of training content for patients with respiratory problems. Conclusion: The results of this study show the various educational needs for developing a patient safety pediatric handoff training program to promote nursing students' skills in handoff.

  • This study provides basic data when planning nutrition support for healthy aging by revealing the relationship between various symptoms in the elderly and nutrient intake. From the 8th National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, data from senior citizens aged 65 years or older in 2021 were used, and answers on the depression prevalence, activity restrictions, complaints of discomfort when chewing, and nutrient intake were analyzed through SPSS multiple logistic regression analysis. In the case of depression, there was a significant effect on the intake of four of the 20 nutrients (water, protein, cholesterol, and vitamin E). When experiencing activity restrictions, the intake of eight of the 20 nutrients (phosphorus, magnesium, vitamin A, vitamin D, beta-carotene, retinol, thiamine, and niacin) was affected. When experiencing chewing discomfort, the intake of three of the 20 nutrients (fat, magnesium, and vitamin E) was affected. Elderly people who suffer from depression, activity restrictions, and discomfort with chewing are at risk of various nutrient deficiencies, and related studies need to be conducted.

In this study, the BeHaS program for the elderly who had one or more risk factors for metabolic syndrome was conducted for 8 weeks, once a week, 1.5 hours a day. Data collection was measured 3 times at 8-week intervals. Physical factors were measured 3 times (Pretest1, Pretest2, posttest) and self-esteem were measured 2 times (Pretest2, posttest). Physical factors were analyzed using Repeated Measured ANOVA, and, self-esteem was analyzed using paired t-test. As the result of this study, it was confirmed that the BeHaS program is effective in managing obesity and blood glucose, reducing cholesterol, and improving self-esteem. Therefore, it is suggested that additional research is needed to improve the community health with metabolic syndrome.

  • In order to improve the quality of consumption in senior generation, it is necessary to build trust in the digital consumption environment. However, there are limitations from previous researches on consumption in the digital environment that has mainly focused on Millennial and Z generations. Therefore, this study aims to examine the antecedents of digital consumption trust and to explore the market segments of senior generation created by the dynamics of these antecedents. In addition, in order to provide practical implications, we investigate the difference in the level of perceived digital consumption trust using segmentation. This study, therefore, used 2021 Korea's consumer life index data conducted by the Korea Consumer Agency for general consumers, and only consumer data of 60s and older are extracted for the analysis. As a result, we confirm from the main results that the three antecedents, consumer competency, perceived corporate responsibility, and local community's problem-solving environment, are significant in building the digital consumption trust in the senior generation. It is academically significant in this aspect to look at approaches to improve senior customers' trust in digital consumption circumstances by dividing generations because generations exhibit varying levels of understanding of online consumption or digital consumption conditions. It is academically significant in this aspect to look at approaches to improve senior customers' trust in digital consumption circumstances by dividing generations because generations exhibit varying levels of understanding of online consumption or digital consumption conditions. Additionally, it is proposed as a practical implication that it should be managed so that significant improvements of customers, businesses, and regional public institutions are developed in order to allow the senior consumers to prepare trusted digital consumption circumstances.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the level of anger and social support and to identify factors affecting anger in elderly women. This was a cross-sectional descriptive survey. A convenience sample of 155 elderly women was recruited from two senior welfare centers and three nursing homes in J city. Data were collected from June 15 to July 15, 2010 through interviews using a structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple linear regression using the SPSS WIN 18.0 program. The level of social support and anger was 3.73 and 2.72 out of 5, respectively. Anger was statistically significantly different according to type of residence (B=0.21, t=2.42, ${\rho}$=.017), psychiatric medication (B=0.66, t=4.93, ${\rho}$ <.001), physical medication (B=0.41, t=4.22, ${\rho}$ <.001), and evaluation support (B=-0.15, t=-3.00, ${\rho}$=.004), and these accounted 33.0% of anger. Providing proper information and developing social support program would be useful for managing anger of elderly women.

A total of 63 older adult women in the senior welfare center were recruited and assigned to the experimental group (31) or control group (32). Taping therapy was provided to the experimental group three times a week for two weeks. Data were collected before and after the intervention program. The data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, Chi-square test, and t-test with SPSS Statistics Win 21.0 program. Knee pain (t= -9.91, p<0.001) and depression (t= -4.59, p<0.001) were decreased significantly in the experimental group. The results show that taping therapy is an effective nursing intervention for decreasing knee pain and depression in older adult women.
