  • A new additive for semi-brightness finish in nickel electroplating, having a quarternary ammonium salt structure, has been developed in this study. The effectiveness of the new additive was tested in laboratory-scale eletroplating tests as well as in a full-scale factory plating line. An examination of the plated surface showed that the new additive is as good as the one produced by the most commonly used additive in the nickel plating industry. The plated surface was examined by SEM, EPMA, and Reflectance Spectroscopy, and was found to be compatible to the one obtained with commercial additives. The new additive has a shelf life comparable with those of other commercially available additives. The additive developed in this study has an excellent potential to be used commercially.

  • COF에 사용되는 구리배선은 폴리이미드 필름에 subtractive 방법을 이용하여 만들어지고 있으나 선폭이 작아짐에 따라 subtractive 방법은 폭방향으로 에칭 현상으로 인하여 사용에 제한이 되고 있다. Semi-additive 방법은 리소그래피 공정과 전기도금범을 사용하여 구리배선을 만드는 방법으로 $10-40{\mu}m$의 좁은 선폭에 대한 연구를 하였다. AZ4620과 PMER900의 두꺼운 PR을 사용하였으며 전기도금법을 이용하여 구리 배선을 형성하였다. 기존의 용액은 높은 잔류응력으로 인하여 구리도금층에 crack이 발생하였으며 via filling에 사용된 도금액을 사용한 경우 잔류응력이 낮아서 crack이 없는 구리배선을 얻을 수 있었다. 기지층의 에칭시 배선의 폭방향으로의 에칭 현상은 관찰되지 않았다.

  • SAP 씨앗층용 구리필름에 대한 결정구조와 에칭속도의 상관관계를 알아보았다. 그 결과, 저지수 면보다는 고지수면이 우선적으로 성장되어 있는 구리피막이 높은 에칭속도를 나타내었다. 이와 같은 우선결정방위와 에칭속도의 관계를 결정구조적인 관점에서 해석하였다.

  • After the review of known results on the connections between selfsimilar processes with independent increments (processes of class L) and selfdecomposable distributions and between semi-selfsimilar processes with independent increments and semi-selfdecomposable distributions, dichotomy of those processes into transient and recurrent is discussed. Due to the lack of stationarity of the increments, transience and recurrence are not expressed by finiteness and infiniteness of mean sojourn times on bound sets. Comparison in transience-recurrence of the Levy process and the process of class L associated with a common distribution of class L is made.

  • Introducing the interfacial pressure jump terms based on the surface tension into the momentum equations of two-phase two-fluid model, the system of governing equations is turned mathematically into the hyperbolic system. The eigenvalues of the equation system become always real representing the void wave and the pressure wave propagation speeds as shown in the previous manuscript. To solve the interfacial pressure jump terms with void fraction gradients implicitly, the conventional semi-implicit method should be modified as an intermediate iteration method for void fraction at fractional time step. This advanced semi-implicit method (ASIM) then becomes stable without conventional additive terms. As a consequence, including the interfacial pressure jump terms with the advanced semi-implicit method, the numerical solutions of typical two-phase problems can be more stable and sound than those calculated exclusively by using any other terms like virtual mass, or artificial viscosity.

  • New semi-fluorinated polyol esters were synthesized by condensation reaction of polyols (NPG and TMP) and carboxylic acids such as 2-ethylhexanoic acid, stearic acid and perfluorooctanoic acid. The structures of polyol esters were confirmed by FT-IR and H-NMR etc. And, the fluorinated polyol esters were insoluble in several oils, however, the semi-fluorinated polyol esters were soluble in several oils depended on the structure of polyol esters. The physical properties such as 4-ball wear property and extreme-pressure (EP) properties were characterized by measuring wear scar diameter through ASTM D2266 and by determining the load-carrying through ASTM D2783 method, respectively. As the results, wear scar diameters of oils in which the semi-fluorinated polyol esters were added were not changed compared to those of not added oils. While extreme-pressure properties remarkably Increased with fluorine contents of the esters depended on the structure of acid moiety and polyol moiety. Also, the extreme-pressure property of semi-fluorinated NPG polyol ester in gasoline engine oil was better than that of commercial Teflon coating additive.

Effect of ethylenediamine tetra acetic acid additive on the nucleation kinetics and growth aspects of L-arginine phosphate single crystals

  • Pure and Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) doped L-arginine phosphate (LAP) single crystals were grown from the aqueous solution by temperature lowering method. The effect of EDTA additive on the solubility and metastable zone width of LAP solution has been investigated. Addition of EDTA has enhanced the metastable zone width of LAP and hence bulk crystals could be grown. The growth rate along the [100] direction increases with EDTA additive. Powder X-ray diffraction and FTIR studies reveal the absence of EDTA in the lattice of LAP, This reveals that the addition of EDTA to LAP doesn't influence the crystallinity. However, the transmittance and NLO properties significantly increase with EDTA additive and hence bulk LAP crystals are useful for laser fusion experiments.

  • The promotive effect of Ca in semi-vitro culture of Oenothera biennis pollen was by and large identical to that of in vitro systems. This promotive effect became additive when boron was supplemented to the media and even more so if K was further supplemented. No such Ca action was observed then performed under the conditions of relatively low temperature. An uncoupling agent of ATP in respiration, DNP, inhibited the promotive action of B, but not that of Ca. The inhibitory effect of DNP was greater at low temperatures. IAA was rather inhibitory on pollen growth in semi-vitro culture, even much greater than it if DNP was supplemented to the IAA-containing media.

Performance Bounds for MMSE Linear Macrodiversity Combining in Rayleigh Fading, Additive Interference Channels

  • The theoretical performance of MMSE linear microdiversity combining in Rayleigh fading, additive interference channels has already been derived exactly in the literature. In the macrodiversity case the fundamental difference is that any given source may well have different average received powers at the different antennas. This makes an exact analysis more difficult and hence for the macrodiversity case we derive a bound on the mean BER and a semi-analytic upper bound on outage probabilities. Hence we provide bounds on the performance of MMSE linear microdiversity combining in Rayleigh fading with additive noise and any number of interferers with arbitrary powers.
