  • Because UMLS semantic network is bulky and complex, user hard to understand and has shortcoming that can not express all semantic network on screen. To solve this problem, rules to dismember semantic network efficiently are introduction. but there is shortcoming that this should classifies manually applying rule whenever UMLS semantic network is modified. Suggest automatic clustering method of UMLS semantic network that use genetic algorithm to solve this problem. Proposed method uses Linked semantic relationship between each semantic type and semantic network does clustering by structurally similar semantic type linkages. To estimate the performance of suggested method, we compared it with result of clustering method by rule.

  • This study proposes a Natural Language Query Framework (NLQF) for the semantic web. It supports an intelligent inference at a semantic level. Most of previous researches focused on the knowledge representation on the semantic web. However, to revitalize the intelligent e-business on the semantic web, there is a need for semantic level inference to the web information. To satisfy the need, we will review the knowledge/resource representation on the semantic web such as RDF, Ontology and Conceptual Graph (CG), and then discuss about the natural language (NL) inference. The result of this research could support a natural interface for the semantic web. Furthermore, we expect that the NLQF can be used in the semantic web-based business communications.

  • This study proposes a Natural Language Query Framework (NLQF) on the semantic web to support the intelligent deduction at semantic level. A large number of former researches are focused on the knowledge representation on the semantic web. However, to revitalize the intelligent agent (IA)-based automated e-business contract with human customers, there is a need for semantic level approach to the web information. To enable accessing web information at semantic level, this paper discusses the pattern of complex natural language processing at first, and then the semantic web-based natural language inference in e-business environment. The NL-based approach could help the IAs on the web to communicate with customers and other IAs with more natural interface than traditional HTML-based web information. Therefore, our proposed NLQF will be used in semantic web-based intelligent e-business contracts between customers and IAs.

  • It is argued in this paper that, in determining semantic similarity, Korean words should be recategorized with a focus on the semantic relation to ontology in light of cross-linguistic morphological variations. It is proposed, in particular, that Korean semantic similarity should be measured on three tracks, human judgements track, relatedness track, and cross-part-of-speech relations track. As demonstrated in Yang et al. (2015), GloVe, the unsupervised learning machine on semantic similarity, is applicable to Korean with its performance being compared with human judgement results. Based on this compatability, it was further thought that the model's performance might most likely vary with different kinds of specific relations in different languages. An attempt was made to analyze them in terms of two major Korean-specific categories involved in their lexical and cross-POS-relations. It is concluded that languages must be analyzed by varying methods so that semantic components across languages may allow varying semantic distance in the vector space models.

  • In this paper, we describe a generation mechanism of semantic-based queries for high accuracy information retrieval and question answering. It is difficult to offer the correct retrieval result because general information retrieval systems do not analyze the semantic of user's natural language question. We analyze user's question semantically and extract semantic features, and we .generate semantic-based queries using them. These queries are generated using the se-mantic-based question analysis grammar and the query generation rule. They are represented as semantic features and grammatical morphemes that consider semantic and syntactic structure of user's questions. We evaluated our mechanism using 100 questions whose answer type is a person in the TREC-9 corpus and Web. There was a 0.28 improvement in the precision at 10 documents when semantic-based queries were used for information retrieval.

  • Semantic service can be defined as the service providing search API or reasoning API based on ontology and Web Services. It performs a pre-defined task by exploiting URI, classes, and properties. This study introduces a semantic service composition method based on a semantic broker referring ontology and management information of semantic services stored in a semantic service manager with requirements of the user. The requirements consist of input instances, an output class, a visualization type, semantic service names, and property names. This composition method provides dynamically generated semantic service pipelines including composit semantic services. The user can execute the pipelines provided by the semantic broker to find a meaningful semantic pipeline. After all, this study contributes to develop a system supporting human service planners who want to find composit semantic services among distributed semantic services.

  • The Semantic Web has the objective of developing universal media in which machine-processable semantic information can be represented and shared, and it is therefore important to distribute ontologies that represent this kind of semantic information to the Web and make them available to multiple parties. However, the current ontology authoring tools are not operating on the Web, which makes it difficult to distribute ontologies directly to the Web and to create and edit them collaboratively with other people. This paper proposes a framework that facilitates the ontology construction and sharing, realizing easy distribution of ontologies to the Web. Wiki is one of the frameworks for collaborative construction and sharing of knowledge on the Web, and Wiki contents consist of natural language texts and simple markup language for visualization. For better collaboration in creating and sharing ontologies, this paper suggests the Semantic Wiki that embodies the Semantic Web features to the existing Wiki system. The Semantic Wiki framework facilitates the collaboration in ontology co-authoring and sharing for people, and at the same time, makes it possible for the agent software to easily manage the ontology information. Eventually, the Semantic Wiki system accomplishes various tasks including the semantic view, the semantic navigation, and the semantic query.

  • The Semantic Web Services is a next-generation Web technology that supports Web services, based on the semantic Web technologies. Until now, the researches on semantic Web services may be foiled on the semantic Web document management and the inference engine to efficiently process the semantic Queries. However, in order to realize the principle semantic Web environment it is necessary to provide a semantic query interface though which users and/or agents can efficiently request semantic information. In this regard, we propose the Semantic Query Adapter(SQA) to provide a high query transparency with users, especially when querying about a complex semantic information. We first design the procedural user query interface based on a graphic view, by analyzing DAML-S Profile documents. And then, we builds a module which a user input query transforms its corresponding RDQL. We also propose the multiple semantic query generating procedure as a new method to solve the disjunctive query problem of the RDQL primitive.

  • In the Semantic Web, it is possible to provide intelligent information retrieval and automated web services by defining a concept of information resource and representing a semantic relation between resources with meta data and ontology. It is very important to manage semantic data such as ontology and meta data efficiently for implementing essential functions of the Semantic Web. Thus we propose an index structure to support more accurate search results and efficient query processing by considering semantic and structural features of the semantic data. Especially we use a graph data model to express semantic and structural features of the semantic data and process various type of queries by using graph model based path expressions. In this paper the proposed index aims to distinguish our approach from earlier studies and involve the concept of the Semantic Web in its entirety by querying on primarily extracted structural path information and secondary extracted one through semantic inferences with ontology. In the experiments, we show that our approach is more accurate and efficient than the previous approaches and can be applicable to various applications in the Semantic Web.

  • This paper presents an efficient semantic service discovery scheme called UbiSearch for a large-scale ubiquitous computing environment. A semantic service discovery network in the semantic vector space is proposed where services that are semantically close to each other are mapped to nearby positions so that the similar services are registered in a cluster of resolvers. Using this mapping technique, the search space for a query is efficiently confined within a minimized cluster region while maintaining high accuracy in comparison to the centralized scheme. The proposed semantic service discovery network provides a number of novel features to evenly distribute service indexes to the resolvers and reduce the number of resolvers to visit. Our simulation study shows that UbiSearch provides good semantic searchability as compared to the centralized indexing system. At the same time, it supports scalable semantic queries with low communication overhead, balanced load distribution among resolvers for service registration and query processing, and personalized semantic matching.
