The Difference between Time Management Practices and Self-evaluation of Time Use by Time Rules in Families, Focused on Middle School Students in Japan (부모 자녀 간 시간에 관한 규칙 유무에 따른 일본 중학생의 시간관리 행동 및 시간사용 자기평가의 차이)

  • This study aims to clarify the difference between scores for time management practice and the self-evaluation of time use according to time rules in families. This study used data obtained from the first survey on after-school activities in 2008, conducted by the Benesse Educational Research and Development Institute in Japan. The study sample consists of 3,372 middle school students. First, scores for independence and planning were highest in third grade, yet the score for regularity was also lowest in third grade. There will be different lifestyles even among middle school students of the same grade, so it is necessary to consider their characteristics and family rules. Second, the scores for independence, regularity and planning were lowest in groups whose families had rules about time (time rules for curfew, time rules for watching television, time rules for playing games), but in which those rules were not kept. These results were similar for both boys and girls and show that it is more important keep rules rather than to make rules.

  • The purpose of this study was to find out the general characteristics of school health teachers, the status of school health resources and the degrees of self-confident performance for the 124 school health teachers in Pusan City. Data was collected by means of questionaires from Aug. 1986 to Mar. 1987. The data were analyzed by use of percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA and Pearson-correlation coefficient. The results of this study were as follows: 1 . General Characteristics of School Health Teachers (SHT) 1) The average of age of the SHT was 32.8 years old and 39.5% of them were from 30 to 34 years old. 2) The average for school nursing experience of the SHT was 7.9 years and 37.9% of them were from 5 to 9 years. 3) The 45.2% of them have not the clinical experience. 4) The 74.2% of them were graduated from the 3 years college of nursing. 2. Status of school health resources and nursing activities. 1) The average of student number was 2497.3 and class number was 45.2. 2) The average of school health budget was 1039000 won and 27.7% of school health budget expended on examination cost. 3) Only 29.0% of all schools have organization for school health. 4) The 84.7% of all schools have health clinic separately and 69.1% of schools have less than $33m^2$ sized. 5) The average of clinic visitor number was 2111.8 for 1 year. 6) Major problem was on digestive system. And other problems were skin, respiratory, musculo-skeletal system and dental problem. 7) The number of literal message was 14.4 times for 1 year. 3. The degree of the school health teachers' self-confidence. Triboelectric Nanogenerators for Self-powered Sensors

  • Self-powered sensors play an important role in everyday life, and they cover a wide range of topics. These sensors are meant to measure the amount of relevant motion and transform the biomechanical activities into electrical signals using triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) since they are sensitive to external stimuli such as pressure, temperature, wetness, and motion. The present advancement of TENGs-based self-powered wearable, implantable, and patchable sensors for healthcare monitoring, human body motion, and medication delivery systems was carefully emphasized in this study. The use of TENG technology to generate electrical energy in real-time using self-powered sensors has been the topic of considerable research among various leading scholars. TENGs have been used in a variety of applications, including biomedical and healthcare physical sensors, wearable devices, biomedical, human-machine interface, chemical and environmental monitoring, smart traffic, smart cities, robotics, and fiber and fabric sensors, among others, as efficient mechanical-to-electric energy conversion technologies. In this evaluation, the progress accomplished by TENG in several areas is extensively reviewed. There will be a discussion on the future of self-powered sensors.

Evaluation and Direction of the New Town Development in Korea (우리나라 신도시 개발의 평가 및 발전방향)

  • With regard to the new town developments which have supplied lots of houses in a short period of time in Korea this study aims to evaluation and finding out problems of the developments finally to suggest the direction. A new town's competitiveness model set in the previous paper takes a role of research frame to recognize the problems and to show the direction. The model explains that new town's competitiveness is composed of 4 factors; Self-sufficiency, Innovativenss, Identity and Sustainability. Problems of the developments are as follows; incongruity of spatial structure especially in the capital region, deficiency of self-sufficiency resulted from single-use development, restriction on mixed development by a number of regulations in capital region, low business value, grand scale of land compensation, house oriented planning guidance, unfair share of infrastructure fee, and physical structure depending mainly on fossil energy. Based on this recognition this study conclusively suggests corresponding direction such as role performance as a means of urban growth management, promotion of quality of life by accumulating social capital, introduction of socially sustainable management program for the new towns, discovery and creation of town's value, reexamination of self-sufficiency's meaning or target, selective deregulation of metropolitan development, institutional strategy for cost reduction, changeover from house index to urban function oriented index, and pursuit of low-carbon green town.

An Exploratory Study on Undergraduates' SNS Addiction Tendencies and Learning Attitudes (대학생의 SNS 중독경향성과 학습태도에 관한 탐색연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the trend line through scatter diagram analysis on correlation between SNS addiction tendencies and learning attitudes, figure out the knee point influencing learning attitudes negatively in detail, and examine influence among subareas. To address the goal, study questions are formulated as follows. First, this author did screening on the data of variables measured and analyzed descriptive statistics. Second, this researcher produced the trend line by drawing a scatter diagram in order to analyze correlation between SNS addiction tendencies, withdrawal symptoms, excessive communication, and excessive time wasting, and learning attitudes exploratorily. Third, to explore correlation between self-evaluation, learning participation, and developmental attitudes, the subfactors of learning attitudes related to SNS addiction tendencies, this author drew a scatter diagram and analyzed the threshold of positive and negative correlation. To verify the study questions, the SNS addiction tendency scale and learning attitude scale were applied to 301 university students in Chungcheong area. According to the study results, first, their learning attitudes are influenced by SNS addiction tendencies, excessive communication and excessive time wasting, and they are not influenced by withdrawal symptoms that much. Second, excessive communication, a factor of SNS addiction tendencies, and self-evaluation and developmental attitudes, factors of learning attitudes, show positive correlation to some extent and indicate negative correlation after the threshold. However, excessive communication and learning participation are found to show no correlation. Third, according to the results of examining correlation with learning attitudes by dividing them into excessive communication and excessive time wasting groups with the knee point of 1.40, as the symptom of excessive communication is found more, it influences self-evaluation, learning participation, developmental attitudes, and learning attitudes more negatively in general. The result of this study is expected to provide foundational material necessary to develop educational programs to prevent undergraduates' excessive SNS use and SNS addiction which can be used in the scenes of counseling or education.

  • Self-healing concrete is in the spotlight in that it can effectively extend the lifespan of concrete structures by healing cracks in the structure by themselves without additional repairing or retrofiting actions. Currently, self-healing concrete is a field that is being actively studied around the world, but since most studies focus on the improvement of healing performance, there is a lack of methods to rationally evaluate the self-healing performance of concrete. Although the gas diffusion test method has been developed for the use in the performance evaluation of self-healing concrete, it has revealed that for gas diffusion through the matrix affect the crack diffusion coefficients depending on the environmental conditions such as the saturation of the specimen, the temperature, and humidity during the experiment. Therefore, in this study, the method has been proposed to eliminate the influence of the matrix diffusion when calculating the crack diffusion coefficient. In addition, a pre-conditioning process was introduced to shorten the experimental time. As a result, the crack width could be estimated with an error level of less than 3% in the test time of about 20 minutes.

Evaluation of Service Quality in Self-Service Technology: Based on Grounded Theory for Unmanned Order Payment Technology (셀프서비스 기술에서의 서비스 품질 평가: 무인주문결제기술에 대한 근거이론 접근)

  • Advances in information and communication technology have introduced self-service technologies (SSTs) to service companies, changing the way they serve. In addition, as SSTs are expanding for low cost and high efficiency, opportunities for technology to interact with consumers have increased. Restaurant managers have the advantage of the SSTs win-win strategy, which allows consumers to freely receive the products or services they want, but some consumers have low satisfaction of the SSTs, especially elder people and the blind. This study examines the effect of unmanned order payment technology on service quality evaluation. For this, we interviewed a total of 12 consumers in their 10s to 50s with the experiences of using unmanned order payment technology, applying the Grounded Theory Method(GTM). Through a review of the research participant interview materials, totally 84 concepts were derived and the concepts were analyzed to derive 15 subcategories and 10 upper categories. Finally, a paradigm model of the effect of unmanned order payment technology on service quality assessment was derived. It also found the importance of consumers' sense of obligation to use unmanned order payment technology, recognition of advantages (e.g., time savings), recognition of shadow labor, and recognition of whether the technology usage process is in the service quality assessment stage.

Conformance Evaluation Method by Successively Applying Self-Running Test Mode in Active RFID Tag (능동형 RFID 태그에서 자체 시험 모드를 순차적으로 적용한 적합성 평가방법)

  • Active RFID tags are currently used in harbor transportation; they are attached to cargo containers for sea transportation. They are designed to be able to be identified by RFID readers installed at ports in many countries. The international standard ISO/IEC 18047-7 regarding RFID conformance test methods suggests the use of air interface evaluation between an RFID reader and a tag. However, the test method suggested by the international standard is intended to detect a radio signal over only a very short period. Outcomes were uncertain, making it difficult to evaluate the system accurately. This paper proposes a new evaluation method by incorporating a 'self-running test mode' environment into the RFID tags in order to reduce the test time and increase testing accuracy. We found that the application of the suggested method to actual tags improves measurement time and uncertainty over that obtained using existing methods.

Evaluation of Setting Delay in Mortar Adding Superplasticizer Using Electrical Resistivity Measurement (전기비저항 측정법을 이용한 유동화 모르타르의 응결 지연 현상 평가)

  • According to the development and use of self-consolidating concrete in field, interest in material properties of early-age concrete is rising. Setting time with hydration process of cement is one of significant indicator to evaluate the early-age material properties of concrete, various nondestructive methods including penetration resistance measurement have been proposed to estimate setting time. This study performed an experimental approach to evaluate setting time delay in mortar adding superplasticizer using electrical resistivity measurement. For this purpose, total nine types of mortar samples were prepared, and its electrical resistivity was monitoring during 24h after mixing. From the experimental result, rising time of electrical resistivity was used to evaluate setting delay of mortar, and penetration resistance was also measured for comparison. In addition, dynamic elastic modulus and compressive strength of 1day mortar were measured to investigate a possibility the use of electrical resistivity measurement for evaluation of early-age material properties.

Effects of an Integrated Physical Activity Program for Physically Inactive Workers - Based on the PRECEDE-PROCEED Model - (PRECEDE-PROCEED 모형 기반 비활동성작업 근로자를 위한 통합적 신체활동증진 프로그램의 개발과 효과)

  • Purpose: We aimed to examine the effects of an integrated physical activity (PA) program developed for physically inactive workers on the theoretical basis of the PRECEDE-PROCEED model. Methods: Participants were 268 workers in three departments of L manufacturing unit in South Korea. The three departments were randomly allocated into integration (n=86) (INT), education (n=94) (ED), and control (n=88) (CT) groups. The INT group received self-regulation, support, and policy-environmental strategies of a 12-week integrated PA program, the ED group received self-regulation strategies only, and the CT group did not receive any strategies. After 12 weeks, process evaluation was conducted by using the measures of self-regulation (autonomous vs. controlled regulation), autonomy support, and resource availability; impact evaluation by using PA measures of sitting time, PA expenditure, and compliance; and outcome evaluation by using the measures of cardiometabolic/musculoskeletal health and presenteeism. Results: Among process measures, autonomous regulation did not differ by group, but significantly decreased in the CT group (p=.006). Among impact measures, PA compliance significantly increased in the INT group compared to the CT group (p=.003). Among outcome measures, the changes in cardiometabolic/musculoskeletal health and presenteeism did not differ by group; however, systolic blood pressure (p=.012) and a presenteeism variable (p=.041) significantly decreased only in the INT group. Conclusion: The integrated PA program may have a significant effect on increases in PA compliance and significant tendencies toward improvements in a part of cardiometabolic health and presenteeism for physically inactive workers. Therefore, occupational health nurses may modify and use it as a workplace PA program.
