The fundamental problem of selective protection scheme for encoded bitstreams is to find an efficient algorithm to select the set of frames required to be encrypted that can maximize protection effect with the minimum amount of protected data is required. In this paper, we propose an optimal selective protection scheme for SVC bitstreams by protecting the best combination of frames for selective protection in the sense that the amount of data required for protection is minimized and the resulting visual quality degradation is maximized. The selection of the frames to be encrypted is done by first expressing R-Q (protection rate - visual quality) relationship with Lagragian cost model. The experimental results show that, compared to protecting SVC bitstreams layer by layer, the proposed scheme gives superior performance in terms of protection effectiveness due to its better selection of frames for protection given protection bit budgets.

In this paper, we propose an efficient and effective selective protection scheme to SVC that exploit the propagation of protection effect by protecting significant frames that can give the maximum visual quality degradation. We model SVC dependency coding structure as a directed acyclic graph which is characterized with an estimated visual quality value as the attribute at each node. The estimated visual quality is calculated by using our model based on the proportions of intra- and inter-predicted MBs, amounts of residual, and estimated visual quality of reference frames. The proposed selective protection scheme traverses the graph to find optimal protection paths that can give maximum visual quality degradation. Experimental results show that the proposed selective protection scheme reduces the required number of frames to be protected by 46.02% compared to the whole protection scheme and 27.56% compared to the layered protection scheme.

Distance relays achieve selective tripping by measurement of all short circuit fault conditions inside set reaches. The direction of the fault, forward or reverse is commonly determined with a dedicated measurement to ensure selectivity under all conditions. For the direction decision (measurement) a number of alternatives are available. This paper describes a loop selective direction measurement and illustrates by means of a typical fault why this is superior to a non loop selective direction measurement such as that based on negative sequence quantities.

We introduce an improved Ethernet ring protection method, selective filtering database (FDB) advertisement, to minimize traffic overshoot in the event of a failure or recovery. On the protection switching event, the proposed method makes all ring nodes perform an FDB flush except the FDB entries associated with their client subnets. Then, ring nodes rapidly exchange their client MAC address lists so that their FDBs are immediately updated by indirect MAC address learning. The proposed scheme guarantees fast and reliable protection switching over the standard scheme.

The efficient synthetic routes to cis-1-ethenyl-2-hydroxymethyl-cyclohexane, an useful synthetic intermediate, have been described. Access to the cis-disubstituted cyclo hexane is gained through the Clasen rearrangment and selective DHP protection of diol respectively.

고추에서 Colletotrichum scovillei를 검출하고 계수하기 위한 반선택배지가 개발되었다. 기본배지로서 Potato-dextrose-agar (PDA)가 사용되었다. 반선택배지의 최종 조성은 부생성곰팡이와 세균을 저해하고, C. scovillei의 생장에 양호할 수 있도록 확립되었다. 반선택배지는 pyribencarb와 pydiflumetofen 각각 40 ㎍ mL^-1와 세균을 방지하기 위한 streptomycin 100 ㎍ mL^-1를 포함한다. 배지의 pH는 85% lactic acid로 4.8로 조절했다. 반선택배지에 배양할 때 C. scovillei의 균사생육 저해율은 Fusarium속과 다른 부생균보다 뚜렷이 낮았다. 반선택배지에 과실과 줄기조직 현탁액을 평판배양하여 탄저병균이 자연 감염된 식물체로부터 C. scovillei가 검출되었고, 신뢰할 수 있고 정량할 수 있었다. 이것은 자연 감염된 고추조직에서 C. scovillei의 존재를 검출하기 위한 반선택성배지에 대한 처음 보고이다.

Cascading failure is the main cause of large blackouts in electrical power systems; this paper analyzes a cascading failure in Hanbit nuclear power plant unit two (2) caused by a circuit breaker (CB) operation failure. This malfunction has been expanded to the loss of offsite power (LOOP). In this study, current practices are reviewed and then the methodologies of how to prevent cascading failures in protection power systems are introduced. An overview on the implementation of IEC61850 GOOSE messaging-based zone selective interlocking (ZSI) scheme as key solution is proposed. In consideration of ZSI blocking time, all influencing factors such as circuit breaker opening time, relay I/O response time and messages travelling time in the communication network should be taken into account. The purpose of this paper is to elaborate on the effect of cascading failure in NPP electrical power protection system and propose preventive actions for this failures. Finally, the expected advantages and challenges are elaborated.

스마트폰과 같은 모바일 기기가 널리 보급됨에 따라 사용자들은 모바일 기기 응용들을 사용하면서 빠른 응답성을 제공받기를 바란다. 하지만 모바일 기기 응용들은 종종 사용자가 기대하는 수준의 응답성을 제공하지 못한다. 응답성을 저해하는 주 원인들 중 하나는 과도한 페이지 폴트 발생에 따른 대화형 태스크 수행의 지연이다. 이는 대화형 태스크의 상주 페이지(resident page)들이 비대화형 태스크와의 페이지 캐시 경쟁에 의해 더욱 빈번히 희생될 페이지(victim page)으로 선정되어 스토리지로 쫓겨나기 때문이다. 이 논문은 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 프레임워크 지원 선별적 페이지 보호 기법을 제시한다. 제안한 기법은 프레임워크 레벨에서 대화형 태스크를 식별하고 이를 커널에 전달하여 페이지 replacement 시에 대화형 태스크의 페이지를 보호하고, 사용자 입력 처리 중에 발생하는 페이지 폴트를 줄인다. 실험 결과 제안된 기법은 기존 시스템에 비해 페이지 폴트 횟수를 37% 감소시켰고, 응답시간을 11% 단축할 수 있었다.

본 연구는 무당벌레에 선택적인 살비제 선발과 이들 처리가 사과원 초식성응애류 및 천적류에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위하여 수행되었다. 조사된 모든 살비제는 무당벌레 보다는 점박이응애와 사과응애에 더 강한 독성을 보였고, 또 무당벌레의 유충과 성충보다는 알에 더 높은 독성을 나타냈다. 실내 선택독성실험에서 azocyclotin과 fenpropathrin이 각각 무당벌레에 대해서 선택성이 높은 약제와 낮은 약제로 나타났다. 응애류는 약제 처리횟수에 크게 영향을 받은 반면 천적류는 약제살포횟수 및 약제종류간에 차이가 없었다. 풀잠자리류는 긴털이리응애나 애꽃노린재류와는 달리 약제살포에 비교적 영향이 적었다.

We report on a new method of fabricating color filters based on selective wetting of color inks. The reversible formation of a hydrophobic layer provides sequential generation and protection of successive color filter patterns through a simple coating process. The transmittance and geometrical properties of the fabricated color filter were described.
