Guarantee of the data integrity is important to the Virtual Private Network (VPN) which can be improved cost decreasing and effective work by applying on Internet as the private network. Thus, the integrity function in the VPN must be maintained and the security manager must be check it occasionally. In this paper we propose the VPN Integrity Evaluation System (VIES) which is collecting, and evaluating automatically the vulnerable data of VPN against current hacking mechanisms in information security system. And this VIES obtain to the results which have objectivity and fairness of evaluation by driving off the evaluation scenario based on Common Criteria (CC), and general users or non-specialist can utilize easy the security evaluation of organization.

In recent years, the malicious apps with malicious code in normal apps are increasingly redistributed in Android market, which may incur various problems such as the leakage of authentication information and transaction information and fraudulent transactions when banking apps to process the financial transactions are exposed to such attacks. Thus the financial authorities established the laws and regulations as an countermeasures against those problems and domestic banks provide the integrity verification functions in their banking apps, yet its reliability has not been verified because the studies of the safety of the corresponding functions have seldom been conducted. Thus this study suggests the vulnerabilities of the integrity verification functions of banking apps by using Android reverse engineering analysis techniques. In case the suggested vulnerabilities are exploited, the integrity verification functions of banking apps are likely to be bypassed, which will facilitate malicious code inserting attacks through repackaging and its risk is very high as proved in a test of this study. Furthermore this study suggests the specific solutions to those vulnerabilities, which will contribute to improving the security level of smartphone financial transaction environment against the application forgery attacks.

The rise of Industry 5.0 has led to a smarter and more digital way of doing business, but with it comes the issue of user privacy and security. Only when privacy and security issues are addressed, will users be able to transact online with greater peace of mind. Thus, to address the security and privacy problems associated with industry blockchain technology, we propose a privacy protection scheme for online financial transactions based on verifiable ring signatures and blockchain by comparing and combining the unconditional anonymity provided by ring signatures with the high integrity provided by blockchain technology. Firstly, we present an algorithm for verifying ring signature based on distributed key generation, which can ensure the integrity of transaction data. Secondly, by using the block chain technique, we choose the proxy node to send the plaintext message into the block chain, and guarantee the security of the asset transaction. On this basis, the designed scheme is subjected to a security analysis to verify that it is completely anonymous, verifiable and unerasable. The protection of user privacy can be achieved while enabling online transactions. Finally, it is shown that the proposed method is more effective and practical than other similar solutions in performance assessment and simulation. It is proved that the scheme is a safe and efficient online financial transaction ring signature scheme.

With delegating proxy to process data before outsourcing, data owners in restricted access could enjoy flexible and powerful cloud storage service for productivity, but still confront with data integrity breach. Identity-based data auditing as a critical technology, could address this security concern efficiently and eliminate complicated owners' public key certificates management issue. Recently, Yu et al. proposed an Identity-Based Public Auditing for Dynamic Outsourced Data with Proxy Processing (https://doi.org/10.3837/tiis.2017.10.019). It aims to offer identity-based, privacy-preserving and batch auditing for multiple owners' data on different clouds, while allowing proxy processing. In this article, we first demonstrate this scheme is insecure in the sense that malicious cloud could pass integrity auditing without original data. Additionally, clouds and owners are able to recover proxy's private key and thus impersonate it to forge tags for any data. Secondly, we propose an improved scheme with provable security in the random oracle model, to achieve desirable secure identity based privacy-preserving batch public auditing with proxy processing. Thirdly, based on theoretical analysis and performance simulation, our scheme shows better efficiency over existing identity-based auditing scheme with proxy processing on single owner and single cloud effort, which will benefit secure big data storage if extrapolating in real application.
Recently, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) has been widely adopted to ensure secure protection of enterprise data and provide users with a centrally managed execution environment. However, user experiences may be restricted due to the limited functionalities of thin clients in VDI. If thick client devices like laptops are used, then data leakage may be possible due to malicious software installed in thick client mobile devices. In this paper, we present Data Firewall, a security framework to manage and protect security-sensitive data in thick client mobile devices. Data Firewall consists of three components: Virtual Machine (VM) image management, client VM integrity attestation, and key management for Protected Storage. There are two types of execution VMs managed by Data Firewall: Normal VM and Secure VM. In Normal VM, a user can execute any applications installed in the laptop in the same manner as before. A user can access security-sensitive data only in the Secure VM, for which the integrity should be checked prior to access being granted. All the security-sensitive data are stored in the space called Protected Storage for which the access keys are managed by Data Firewall. Key management and exchange between client and server are handled via Trusted Platform Module (TPM) in the framework. We have analyzed the security characteristics and built a prototype to show the performance overhead of the proposed framework.

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are an emerging technology and offers economically viable monitoring solution to many challenging applications. However, deploying new technology in hostile environment, without considering security in mind has often proved to be unreasonably unsecured. Apparently, security techniques face many critical challenges in WSNs like data security and secrecy due to its hostile deployment nature. In order to resolve security in WSNs, we propose a novel and efficient secure framework called TriSec: a secure data framework for wireless sensor networks to attain high level of security. TriSec provides data confidentiality, authentication and data integrity to sensor networks. TriSec supports node-to-node encryption using PingPong-128 stream cipher based-privacy. A new PingPong-MAC (PP-MAC) is incorporated with PingPong stream cipher to make TriSec framework more secure. PingPong-128 is fast keystream generation and it is very suitable for sensor network environment. We have implemented the proposed scheme on wireless sensor platform and our result shows their feasibility.

The increasing demand in promoting cloud computing in either business or other areas requires more security of a cloud storage system. Traditional cloud storage systems fail to protect data integrity information (DII), when the interactive messages between the client and the data storage server are sniffed. To protect DII and support public verifiability, we propose a data integrity verification scheme by deploying a designated confirmer signature DCS as a building block. The DCS scheme strikes the balance between public verifiable signatures and zero-knowledge proofs which can address disputes between the cloud storage server and any user, whoever acting as a malicious player during the two-round verification. In addition, our verification scheme remains blockless and stateless, which is important in conducting a secure and efficient cryptosystem. We perform security analysis and performance evaluation on our scheme, and compared with the existing schemes, the results show that our scheme is more secure and efficient.

The source code for Android is open and easy to modify depending on the purpose. Recently, this charateristic has been exploited to bypass the runtime protection technique and extract the original executable code. Unfortunately, Android devices are so fragmented that it is difficult to verify the integrity of the system. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a technique to verify the integrity of the execution environment indirectly using the features of the application permission. Before executing the original executable code, it loads and executes the dummy DEX file to monitor for abnormal events and determine whether the system is intact. The proposed technique shows a performance overhead of about 2 seconds and shows that it can detect the bypassing technique that is currently disclosed.
Since the day the Internet became a common and reliable mechanism for communication and data transfer, security officers and enthusiasts rallied to enforce security standards on data transported over the globe. Whenever a user tries communicating with another recipient on the Internet, vital information is sent over different networks until the information is dropped, intercepted, or normally reaches the recipient. Critical information traversing networks is usually encrypted. In order to conceal the sender's identity, different implementations have proven successful - one of which is the invention of anonymous networks. This paper thoroughly investigates one of the most common and existing techniques used during data communication for avoiding traffic analysis as well as assuring data integrity - the onion router (TOR). The paper also scrupulously presents the benefits and drawbacks of TOR.

A novel authentication mechanism is biometric authentication where users are identified by their measurable human characteristics, such as fingerprint, voiceprint, and iris scan. The technology of biometrics is becoming a popular method for engineers to design a more secure user authentication scheme. In terms of physiological and behavioral human characteristics, biometrics is used as a form of identity access management and access control, and it services to identity individuals in groups that are under surveillance. In this article, we review the biometric-based authentication protocol by Althobati et al. and provide a security analysis on the scheme. Our analysis shows that Althobati et al.'s scheme does not guarantee server-to-user authentication. The contribution of the current work is to demonstrate this by mounting threat of data integrity and bypassing the gateway node on Althobati et al.'s scheme. In addition, we analysis the security vulnerabilities of Althobati et al.'s protocol.
