  • Magnesium and its alloys are attracted towards all engineering applications like automotive, marine, aerospace etc. due to its inherent high strength to weight ratio. But, extensive use of Mg alloys is limited to the current scenario because of low wear and corrosion resistance behavior. However, equal channel angular press is one of the severe plastic deformation technique which has been effective method to improve the wear and corrosion resistance by achieving fine grain structure. In this study, the effect of grain refinement on wear and corrosion resistance of AZ80 Mg alloys were investigated. The wear behavior of the coarse and fine-grained Mg alloys was examined through $L_9$ orthogonal array experiments in order to comprehend the wear behavior under varies control parameters. It was shown that ECAPed alloy increased the wear and corrosion resistance of the Mg alloy through the formation of fine grain and uniform distribution of secondary ${\beta}-phase$. Also, the performance of AZ80 Mg alloy for these changeswas discussed through SEM morphology.

  • Dishevelled (Dvl) is a positive regulator of the canonical Wnt signaling pathway, which regulates the levels of $\beta$-catenin. The $\beta$-catenin oncoprotein depends upon the association of Dvl and Axin proteins through their DIX domains, and its accumulation directs the expression of specific developmental-related genes at the nucleus. Here, the $^1H$, $^{13}C$, and $^{15}N$ resonances of the human Dishevelled 2 DIX domain are assigned using heteronuclear nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. In addition, helical and extended elements are identified based on the NMR data. The results establish a structural context for characterizing the actin and phospholipid interactions and binding sites of this novel domain, and provide insights into its role in protein localization to stress fibers and cytoplasmic vesicles during Wnt signaling.

  • The light perception and phototransformation of phytochromes are the first process of the phytochrome-mediated light signal transduction. The chromophore ligation and its photochromism of various site-specific and deletion mutants of pea phytochrome A and bacterial phytochrome-like protein (Cph1) were analyzed in vitro. Serial truncation mutants from the N-terminus and C-terminus indicated that the minimal N-terminal domain for the chromophore ligation spans from the residue 78 to 399 of pea phytochrome A. Site-specific mutants indicated that several residues are critical for the chromophore ligation and/or photochromism. Histidine-324 appears to serve as an anchimeric residue for photochromism through its H-bonding function. Isoleucine-80 and arginine-383 playa critical role for the chromophore ligation and photochromism. Arginine-383 is presumably involved in the stabilization of the Pfr form of pea phytochrome A. Apparently, the amphiphilic ${\alpha}$-helix centered around the residue-391 is in the chromophore pocket and critical for the chromophore ligation.

  • This paper considers foundational issues related to connections in the tangent bundle of a manifold. The approach makes use of second order tangent vectors, i.e., vectors tangent to the tangent bundle. The resulting second order tangent bundle has certain properties, above and beyond those of a typical tangent bundle. In particular, it has a natural secondary vector bundle structure and a canonical involution that interchanges the two structures. The involution provides a nice way to understand the torsion of a connection. The latter parts of the paper deal with the Levi-Civita connection of a Riemannian manifold. The idea is to get at the connection by first finding its.spary. This is a second order vector field that encodes the second order differential equation for geodesics. The paper also develops some machinery involving lifts of vector fields form a manifold to its tangent bundle and uses a variational approach to produce the Riemannian spray.

  • The article identifies and theoretically substantiates the trends of national resilience in the context of establishing the security of the country and its civilizational subjectivity. The strategy of development of the pedagogical university in the conditions of European integration into the European educational and scientific space based on certain characterological features of the personality of the volunteer in the context of allocation of personal resilience is developed. The analysis of both external and internal challenges and threats to the civilization of the country needs to be understood in the context of economic, socio-political, legal, military-political, spiritual-cultural, educational-scientific and network-information resilience. The concepts of "national resilience" and "national security" are quite close - at first glance, even identical. However, a deeper understanding clarifies the differences: national security is a state of protection of the country identity and its very existence, the realization of its national interests. In turn, resilience is a fairly effective strategy and a fundamental guarantee of national security. At the same time, it is extremely important to understand that both national security as a state and national resilience as a strategy are only means of achieving and developing a strong and humanistic civilizational subjectivity of the country. After all, such subjectivity opens for citizens the opportunity for development, dignified self-realization and a proper life. The restructuring of the volunteer's motivational sphere is due to the dominance of such leading motives, which are focused mainly on maintaining and restoring health, which leads to distorted meaningful life goals: isolation, alienation, passivity, inertia, reduced activity, limited communication, etc. The characteristics of relatively stable human behavior include several primary and secondary properties. The primary (relevant) properties include patience, trust, hope, faith, confidence, determination, perseverance, and love; the secondary - punctuality, neatness, obedience, honesty, loyalty, justice, diligence, thrift, accuracy, conscientiousness, obligation, etc. Directly to the personal traits of resilience should be included methodological competencies, which include methodological knowledge, skills and abilities (ability to define ultimate and intermediate goals, plan, conduct and analyze knowledge, establish and implement interdisciplinary links with disciplines of medical-psychological-pedagogical cycles, etc.). All these competencies form the professional resilience of the volunteer.

  • Numerous studies have investigated the cellular prion protein (PrPC) since its discovery. These investigations have explained that its structure is predominantly composed of alpha helices and short beta sheet segments, and when its abnormal scrapie isoform (PrPSc) is infected, PrPSc transforms the PrPC, leading to prion diseases, including Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease in humans and bovine spongiform encephalopathy in cattle. Given its ubiquitous distribution across a variety of cellular types, the PrPC manifests a diverse range of biological functions, including cell-cell adhesion, neuroprotection, signalings, and oxidative stress response. PrPC is also expressed in immune tissues, and its functions in these tissues include the activation of immune cells and the formation of secondary lymphoid tissues, such as the spleen and lymph nodes. Moreover, high expression of PrPC in immune cells plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of prion diseases. In addition, it affects inflammation and the development and progression of cancer via various mechanisms. In this review, we discuss the studies on the role of PrPC from various immunological perspectives.

  • From a cluster of structural rRNA genes which has previsouly been cloned (Hwang and Kim, in submission; J. Microbiol. Biotechnol.), a 1.0-kb Eco RI fragment of DNA which shows significant homology to the 25S and rRNA s of Tricholoma matsutake was used for sequence analysis. Nucleotide sequence was bidirectionally determined using delection series of the DNA fragment. Comparing the resultant 1016-base sequence with sequences in the database, both the 3'end of 25S-rRNA gene and 5S rRNA gene were searched. The 5S rRNA gene is 118-bp in length and is located 158-bp downstream of 3'end of the 25S rRNA gene. IGSI and IGS2 (partial) sequences are also contained in the fragment. Multiple alignment of the 5S rRNA sequences was carried out with 5S rRNA sequences from some members of the subdivision Basidiomycotina obtained from the database. Polygenetic analysis with distance matrix established by Kimura's 2-parameter method and phylogenetic tree by UPGMA method proposed that T. matsutake is closely related to efibulobasidium allbescens. Secondary structure of 5S rRNA was also hypothesized to show similar topology with its generally accepted eukaryotic counterpart.

  • This paper looked into the structure of and changes in the building process of Gijang mountain fortress and its receiving reservoir by analyzing data from an excavation investigation. The structure of the receiving reservoir may be classified into a flat form, stone sheath, floor facility, wall facility, and entry and exit facility. The flat form of the Gijang mountain fortress and receiving reservoir is round. Concerning the sectional form, the wall was obliquely excavated in the trapezoid. As a stone sheath building method, it was built by undertaking a range work of oblong stone materials in a clockwise direction on a stamped soil floor. Then, it was treated with stamping using double layers of gray clay and yellowish brown clay on the floor and the wall. Also, in a space between the stamped layers on the floor, herbal plants and a straw mat were laid for waterproofing as well as to prevent sinking. As an entry and exit facility, two facilities were confirmed symmetrically in the southeast and in the northwest. It is believed that they were built additionally during rebuilding after the initial construction. The building process was revealed to have been carried out in 8 stages. Given the structure and excavated remains, the building period is estimated to be the early to mid 7th century for the initial building, the later 9th to 11th centuries for the primary rebuilding, and the later 16th to early 17th centuries for the secondary rebuilding.
