A large area electron beam generator has been developed for industrial applications, for example, waste water cleaning, flue gas treatment, and food pasteurization. The operational principle is based on the emission of secondary electrons from the cathode when ions in the plasma contact the cathode, which are accelerated toward the exit window by the gradient of the electric potential. Conventional electron beam generators require an electron beam scanning mechanism because a small area thermal electron emitter is used. The electron beam of the large area electron beam generator does not need to be scanned over target material because the beam area is considerable. We have fabricated a large area electron beam generator with peak energy of 200keV, and a beam diameter of 200mm. The electron beam current has been investigated as a function of accelerating voltage and distance from the extracting window while its radial distribution in front of the extracting window has been also measured.
The running stability and safety of a railway vehicle depends on the design characteristics and the contact condition between wheel and rail. In this paper, numerical simulations using ANSYS and ADAMS were done on the basis of the experimental observations. The results show that 0.6 Hz of the tail car motion is due to the natural mode of car combination of the KTX. The effects of the conicity of wheel and the lateral stiffness of the secondary suspension on the running stability were analyzed numerically using ADAMS/RAIL. The results also show 0.6 Hz as like the experimental observations. And the adoption of the wheel of GV40(${\lambda}=0.025$) brought the sway motion at the tail cars, but XP55(${\lambda}=0.055$) did not when the secondary lateral stiffness of the KTX was greater than 0.3 MN/m.
Plasma Source Ion Implantation (PSII) technique was used for the hydrophilization or hydrophobization of polymer surfaces. Polymers were modified with different plasma gases such as oxygen, nitrogen, argon, and tetrafluoromethane, and for varying lengths of treatment time. Plasma ion treatment of oxygen, nitrogen, argon and their mixtures increased significantly the hydrophilic properties of polymer surfaces. More hydrophobic surfaces of polymers were formed after the treatment with tetrafluoromethane. A study of plasma source ion implanted polymers was performed using contact angle measurements and Time-of-Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (TOF-SIMS). The TOF-SIMS spectra and depth profile were used to obtain the information about the treated surfaces of polymers. The permanence of this technique could be evaluated with respect to ageing time. The surfaces treated with PSII gave better stability than other surface modification methods.
Silicon has been developed as an alternate anode material for lithium secondary batteries. A simple approach to improve the electrical contact of silicon powder has described. Carbon-coated and silver-coated silicon have been prepared by chemical vapor deposition and electroless plating respectively. Assembled cells, which consisted of surface modified silicon, lithium foil and $Li^+$ contained organic electrolyte, have been studied using electrochemical methods. Carbon-coated silicon was improved in the electrochemical performance such as reversibility and resistance compared to surface-unmodified silicon.

Background/Aims: Victim advocates are at risk of developing secondary traumatic stress (STS), which can result from witnessing or listening to accounts of traumatic events. This study investigated the relationship between victim status, years of experience, hours of direct contact with victims, and availability of workplace supports in the development of STS. Results: Of the 142 victim advocates, 134 were women. Regression analyses revealed that the only significant predictor of STS was the number of direct hours of victim services provided. Conclusion: The findings from this study found that women have high rates of STS and that more workplace support needs to be implemented.
It is known that the fluidized bed incinerator, which is the subject of analysis, shows excellent performance in heat and mass transfer due to excellent mixing and contact performance between fluidized sand and fuel, and also shows relatively good combustion characteristics thanks to good mixing and long residence time for low-grade fuels. have. In this study, air flow analysis is performed to understand the characteristics of co-firing of sludge, waste oil and solid waste in the fluidized bed incinerator, flow characteristics of flue gas, and discharge characteristics of pollutants. The fluidized bed incinerator subject to analysis is a facility that incinerates factory waste and general household waste together with sludge, with a processing capacity of 32 tons/day. to be. In addition, the operation method was designed for continuous operation for 24 hours. As a result, it can be seen that the lower combustion air and the introduced secondary air are changed to a strong turbulence and swirl flow form and exit through the outlet while rotating inside the freeboard layer. The homogeneous one-way flow form before reaching the secondary air nozzle has very high diffusivity with the high-speed jet flow of the nozzle.
This study was performed for the application of porous concrete blocks and aquatic plants for the water purification in small urban stream. This study investigated the ability of water purification according to various environments, algae and aquatic plants. When the porous concrete was used as contact media, the average removal efficiencies of SS, BOD and COD were 85~95%, 50~60% and 65~75%, respectively. Also, when the porous concrete and aquatic plants was used the average removal efficiency of SS, BOD and COD were 90~95%, 60~70% and 70~80%, respectively. As the results, average removal efficiency of total nitrogen, at the condition of the porous concrete and aquatic plants, was about 40-50%, then, that of total phosphorus was about 60-70%.
This paper reports on estimating the Schottky barrier height of small contacts using a thermionic-field emission model. Our results indicate that the logarithmic plot of the current as a function of bias voltage across the Schottky diode gives a linear relationship, while the plot as a function of the total applied voltage across a metal-silicon contact gives a parabolic relationship. The Schottky barrier height is extracted from the slope of the linear line resulting from the logarithmic plot of current versus bias voltage across the Schottky diode. The result reveals that the barrier height decreases from 0.6 eV to 0.49 eV when the thickness of the barrier metal is increased from 500 ${\AA}$ to 900 ${\AA}$. The extracted impurity concentration at the contact interface changes slightly with different Ti thicknesses with its maximum value at about $2.9{\times}10^{20}\;cm^{-3}$, which agrees well with the results from secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS) measurements.
A method for obtaining the motion of an impact system whose primary and secondary system are composed of lumped masses, springs and dampers, and all the contacts are made through spring and damping elements is presented. The frequency response functions derived from the equations of motion and the impulse response functions obtained from the inverse Fourier transform of the derived frequency response functions are used for the calculation of the system responses. The procedure developed for the calculation of displacements and force time-histories was based on the convolution integrals of impulse response functions and forces applied to the systems. Time histories of displacements and contact forces are obtained for the case where a random excitation is applied to a point in the system. Impact statistics such as contact forces and the time between impacts calculated from those time histories is presented.
