  • We evaluated the seam characteristics with finishing, seaming and sealing processes and seam Puckering behavior of the breathable waterproof fabrics with laser scan. There were differences in 99% significant level between the seamed fabric and the sealed fabric. Seam breakage was initiated with the breakage of sewing thread, so the seam strength after seaming was almost uniform. The sewn seam strength and elongation increased with sealing process in all finishing methods. Pucker grade of laminating type was generally much higher than that of the coating type. We confirmed that wave length and amplitude have more important meaning than the number of weave in the breathable waterproof fabrics. The puckering in breathable waterproof fabrics is mainly occurred by inherent and feeding pucker. The former if due to the insertion of sewing thread and the littler is caused by differential feeding when two pieces of fabric are fed into the gap between a press foot and needle plate.

  • An experimental performance test has been carried out to improve a new blade with higher performance. Most of blades of the fan are designed to be a seamless and simple type, and the flow momentum can generally be evaluated to be comparatively low. Because some portions of the blowing winds can easily be passed through the seamless sharp edge of the blade, and several results studied on these problems have been reported: on the simple blade with edge-line seam, on the simple blade with guide seam. However the results do not show the remarkable increasement of performance of the blades. In this experimental performance test of the blades the design techniques of the blades with double seams (stem seam and edge seam) and comparison tests have been focused. As a first step the comparisons of velocity distributions and flow-rates depending upon the blade are presented in this paper.

  • In this study, to investigate the influence on the seam puckering by the mechanical properties of textiles, it was measured from 4 polyester/cotton samples. We reached the following conclusion in influences of the seam puckering by the thread, iron and laundry. Seam puckering is occurred several times by repeating the laundry. according to iron method, the seam puckering is stronger in order of T/C1> T/C2> T/C3> T/C4 by the samples and order of 40's/2> 60's/3> 50's/2> 60's/2 by the threads, the relation between sample's mechanical properties and seam strength and obtainment of formula. We can find that seam puckering is related with B, 2HB, G, 2HG5, RC, T among the mechanical properties and the estimated formulas which get from mechanical factors.

  • In most of the passenger side airbag door in hard type IP today is designed with invisible tear-seam line. In order to design the tear-seam invisible, the tear-seam must be designed with required RWT (residual wall thickness) that is just thick enough to be broken by the PAB pressure on deployment and not by other surrounding impact forces. Hence, keeping the right optimum opening force is very important, and finding the right RWT became the key in designing the tear-seam. The study conducted in this paper describes the search for the optimum RWT around the tear-seam by using finite element method and the optimum RWT is suggested for milling type tear-seam having V-shape cross-section.

  • This study has been investigated the comparison of the seam strength of hand sewing with machine sewing using two kinds of sewing thread. On machine sewing, thread is used for sale, on hand sewing, thread is used for every fabric weft yarn. Breaking strength, efficiency and breaking mode of seams were examined under various sewing conditions using three kinds of fabric and three kinds of stitch type. The results obtained are as follows: The seam strength is not affected by sewing mechanism, but affected by a breaking mode : The type of slipped mode has a higher seam strength of hand sewing than that of machine sewing. When fabrics and threads were broken by a higher seam strength of machine sewing than that of hand sewing. Fabrics having low density using plain seam slipped more easily, so seam strength was greatly lesser. Fabrics having higher density had higher to seam strength. We should choose appropriate seams based on production, economy and aesthetics.

  • This paper proposes an object-oriented software development guidance and an evaluation index for the productivity related to Seam Framework. Heavyweight and lightweight architecture to resolve the problem with benefits to support the new architecture is a large size distributed object standardization architecture. This architecture, such as the Seam Framework, to provide all of the architecture is possible. The distributed object standardization architecture is most often used in business Seam Framework is well-known architecture. Therefore, this study is based on the Seam Framework large distributed object architecture, design and implementation of JPetStore order system based standardization software development productivity and the objective is to provide guidance.

  • This paper focused on investigating the seam strength by cutting direction depending on the fabrics and weave by comparing the tensile strength and elongation of bias, warp and weft of 4 kinds of find cotton fabrics and combining 6 kinds of seam cutting directions. The cutting directions are selected the warp direction, weft direction and 45-degree bias direction. Then, three kinds of directions, the warp/warp direction, the weft/weft direction and the bias/bias directions, and the three different kinds of directions, the warp/weft direction, the warp/bias direction and the weft/bias directions, were finally selected. The results are as follows: The tensile strength of all fabrics was higher in the order of warp, bias and weft direction and tensile elongation was higher in the order of bias, warp and weft direction in almost all fabrics. 100's and 150's cotton fabrics showed the highest seam strength when they were cut in the bias/bias direction. The seam strength of the fabrics cut in the same direction was the highest in the fabrics cut in the bias/bias direction. Four kinds of fabrics demonstrated the similar seam strength. However, for the seam strength of fabrics cut in the different directions, 100's cotton fabrics had the difference of seam strength by direction and weave, but 150's cotton fabrics didn't have any difference in seam strength by direction and weave. As described above, the seam strength was influenced by the cutting direction of fabrics. Accordingly, the seam strength can be improved by changing the cutting direction of seam when making the clothing.

  • In order to investigate seam puckering in thin fabrics for summer clothing, this experiment was conducted. Eight different fabrics were sewn with ten different kinds of sewing thread, three different sizes of stitch, and three sewing directions and effects on puckering were examined. The results are as follows: 1. More seam puckering appears on thin fabrics than on thick ones. 2. Less seam puckering appears with the smaller sizes of stitch. 3. Slant direction of sewing gets less seam puckering. 4. Almost no puckering appears with slant direction even after washing.
