Purpose: To evaluate reliability of Q-ray view (Aiobio Inc,. Seoul, Korea) for assessing retention status of pit and fissure sealants. Methods: Pit and fissure sealants of 58 permanent molars from 15 third-grade students were examined. Posterior teeth with ≥1 pit and fissure sealants applied to the occlusal surface for >6 months were examined. The teeth were examined using traditional visual-tactile assessments and combined Q-ray view. Pit and fissure sealants were evaluated by assessing marginal plaque, marginal discoloration, marginal integrity, retention, and presence of caries. Fleiss kappa and Cohen's kappa values were calculated to compare inter- and intrarater agreements between visual-tactile and combined Q-ray view assessments. Results: Regarding interrater agreement in visual-tactile assessments, K values of Cohen's kappa for marginal plaque, marginal discoloration, and presence of caries were 0.22-0.57, 0.36-0.57, and 0.43-0.61, respectively, and agreements ranged from slight to moderate. When combined with Q-ray view, the values were 0.81-0.89, 0.69-0.88, and 0.80-0.90, respectively, and agreements ranged from substantial to nearly perfect level, indicating statistical significance. Marginal plaque (0.81-0.83), marginal discoloration (0.57-0.89), and presence of caries (0.69-0.91) showed higher agreements in combined Q-ray view than in visual-tactile assessments, and kappa values of marginal plaques were significantly higher in combined Q-ray view than in visual-tactile assessments. Conclusion: Evaluating retention status of pit and fissure sealants using Q-ray view showed higher reliability than using visual/tactile assessments for marginal plaque, marginal discoloration, and presence of caries. Therefore, Q-ray view may be used to assess the retention status of pit and fissure sealants.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to interpret regional disparities in the number of teeth sealed with pit and fissure sealants, identify the factors that affect these disparities and find solutions for the same. Methods: Data were collected from the National Health Insurance Service and Korean statistical information service using metropolis-city-rural area dental health infrastructure variables, regional health behavior variables, and local finance-related variables. Results: In 2015, the number of teeth sealed with pit and fissure sealants per 100 people was higher in the metropolis or city than in the rural area. There was a positive correlation between the number of teeth sealed with pit and fissure sealants and the number of dentists, dental hygienists, dental institutions, standardization rate of subjective awareness of well-being, standardization rate of brushing after lunch, and the proportion of welfare budget in the general budget. There was a negative correlation with the annual standardization rate of health institution use, the standardization rate of unused medical services, and the local government's financial independence. According to the final model of the multiple regression analysis, while the impact of infrastructure on dentistry was not statistically significant, the statistical significance of standardization rate of brushing after lunch, the local government's financial independence, and the proportion of welfare budget in the general budget were maintained. Conclusions: To reduce regional disparities in the volume of use of pit and fissure sealants, it was concluded that it may be effective to select regions with a consideration of the level of regional economic power, implement separate and appropriate policies and projects, and improve the awareness in residents.
As OLED manufacturing matures, it requires larger substrate processing. The larger substrates require higher dispensing throughput for UV sealants. Jetting the gaskets of seal materials has provided an increase in performance and dispensing capability. This paper describes the jetting process and deposition capability for applying the UV sealants.

Due to the various reason, sealing of pit & fissure might be imperfect. One of these reason can be the fracture of sealant material because of the low hardness value of sealing material. The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the microhardness of two different curing type pit and fissure sealants: Dual-cure and Light-cure. The result from the present study can be summarized as follows: 1. All pit and fissure sealants that used in this study showed statistically significant difference in their microhardness of upper and lower surface. (P <0.05) 2. Except of lower surface of teethmate, microhardness of 40-second curing sealant was statistically higher than that of 20-second curing sealant. (P <0.05) 3. In comparison of sealants, microhardness of dual-cure sealant was statistically higher than that of light-cure sealant. Above results suggest that the use of dual-cure sealant and longer curing time are recommended.

There has recently been some trials to add the fluoride-releasing property to existing fissure sealants and some of them are already commercially available. But, some questions mat naturally be arisen regarding the potential decrease of physical properties by adding the fluoride despite its new caries-inhibiting abilities. This study was performed for the purpose of comparing the shear bond strengths of conventional composite sealant, Fluoride-releasing sealant and glass ionomer sealant, and obtained the results as fellows. 1. Two kinds of composite sealants (Helioseal and Teethmate-A) showed slightly higher bond strength than Fluoride-releasing sealant(Teethmate-F) without any significance(p>0.05). 2. Class ionomer sealant (Fuji III) was much lower than composite sealant in shear bond strength(p<0.05). 3. With the result of this study, it was found that there is little effect on retentive properties of sealants by adding fluoride to amplify the caries-inhibiting properties.

For the purpose of comparing the shear bond strengths of pit and fissure sealants, and finding out the more efficient method of tooth surface treatment when the etched surface is contaminaed by saliva or moisture, an experiment was performed on 3 types of pit and fissure sealants. 120 extracted human molars were divided into 3 groups, each of which was composed of 40 specimens sealed with Helioseal, Teethmate-F and Fuji III respectively. And each groups was again divided into 4 subgroups according to tooth surface treatment. The shear bond strengths of each groups and subgroup was measured and statistically analyzed. The results obtained were as follows : 1. Shear bond strengths of nonfluoridated resin sealant, Helioseal were shown to be higher than those of fluoridated resin sealant, Teethmate-F, but, not significantly different. 2. Shear bond strengths of GI sealant, Fuji III were to be markedly lower than those of two resin sealants. 3. When there is moisture contamination, applying primer under sealant(Group IV) results in a significantly stronger bond strength of sealant to enamel than when using sealant alone(Group II) in case of all sealants. 4. When there is no moisture contamination, using primer under sealant (Group III) results in bond strength equivalent to bond strength on using sealant alone (Group I). 5. Based on the results above, it was demonstrated that the bond of sealant to tooth surface is greatly affected by saliva contamination and that the complete tooth isolation method should be fully emphasized. The application of primer is recommended when performing sealant under the environment very susceptible to saliva contamination.
The mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties of polyamide-modified poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC)-sol was investigated. PVC-sol was plasticized with dioctyl phthalate (DOP). In this work, the effects of the addition of polyamide on the properties of PVC-sol seal-ants were investigated. Two kinds of polyamide resins having different amine value were used. It was found that the properties of the PVC-sol sealants were significantly affected by the contents and types of the added polyamide rosins. The PVC-sol sealants modified with polyamide A (low amino value) showed higher tensile properties than those modified with polyamide B(high amino value) did, and thermal stability of the sealants showed nearly the same trends. The tensile strength of sealants were decreased with increasing the $CaCO_3$ contents. The dielectric constant were not strongly dependent on the polyamide types and contents.

This research undertook the assessment of six types of silicone sealants prepared. Their resistance to fungi was evaluated according to ASTM G 21, LH specification(LHCS 41 40 12), and the newly instituted KS F ISO 21265 test methods. The findings showed that KS F ISO 21265 test method exhibited the superior discriminative capability in assessing fungal resistance when compared to ASTM G 21 and LH specification(LHCS 41 40 12) test methods. Additionally, it was confirmed that oxime curing sealants demonstrated higher fungal resistance than alkoxy curing sealants. Furthermore, The introduction of a condition to assess fungal resistance after 4 weeks of immersion at 50℃ in KS F ISO 21265 is expected to enable long-term fungal resistance evaluation of sealants.

The objective of the current study is to characterize the long-term stability and efficacy of a structural adhesive assembly under static load. An apparatus was designed to be used in the Instron tensile test machine that would allow for real time modeling of the failure characteristics of an assembly utilizing a moisture- cure adhesive which was bonded to concrete. A regression model was developed that followed a linear - natural log function which was used to predict the expected life of the assembly. Evaluations at different curing times confirmed the structure was more robust with longer cure durations prior to loading. Finally, the results show that under the conditions the assembly was tested, there was only a small amount of inelastic creep and the regression models demonstrated the potential for a stable structure lasting several decades.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the antibacterial properties of a sealant containing S-PRG filler compared to those of two contemporary commercial sealants to determine the inhibition of bacterial growth in broth culture and biofilm formation using the CDC Biofilm Reactor. The BeautiSealant containing S-PRG filler, the fluoride releasing Clinpro$^{TM}$ sealant, which are known to have higher antibacterial effects, and the non-fluoride releasing Concise$^{TM}$ sealant were selected for this study. A Streptococcus mutans culture in BHI broth without sealant served as a negative control in the planktonic growth inhibition test. As a result, bacterial growth was inhibited in all three sealant groups compared to that in the control. The Clinpro$^{TM}$ sealant showed a significantly reduced number of CFUs compared to those of the BeautiSealant and Concise$^{TM}$ sealants. However, no significant difference was detected between the BeautiSealant and Concise$^{TM}$ sealants. The Clinpro$^{TM}$ sealant significantly decreased biofilm formation compared to that by the BeautiSealant and Concise$^{TM}$ sealants. No significant difference was observed between the BeautiSealant and Concise$^{TM}$ sealants. In conclusion, the sealant containing S-PRG filler had a less potent anti-bacterial property and increased biofilm formation capacity compared to those of the fluoride releasing Clinpro$^{TM}$ sealant.
