유체압력(流體壓力)에 의한 Squeezed O-ring의 압착(壓着)과 초기(初期) 압출(押出) Mechanism (Pressurization and Initial Extrusion of a Squeezed O-Ring into a Clearance Gap)

  • When an O-ring is installed in a high fluid pressure device, a section of the O-ring is extruded into the piston-cylinder clearance gap. Any tendency towards extrusion will induce wear in dynamic applications, leading to premature failure of the seal. In this study, the mechanism of initial extrusion of the O-ring was studied, 1.e., how much amount of the O-ring will be extruded into the clearance gap at a certain pressure. The relationship between extrusion depth and a clearance gap or fluid pressure were studied by finite element analysis (FEA). After that, Salita's experimental data were analyzed. The result is that Initial extrusion depth for an O-ring into a clearance gap was 1.11 times the product of dimensionless pressure difference $(p-p_1)/E$ and clearance gap c. The required pressure $p_1$ for zero extrusion depth was found to decrease logarithmically with increasing clearance gap.

  • 본 연구에서는 시일 립의 간섭량과 접촉력에 관련된 이론적 연구를 수행한다. 시일의 접촉면에서 축방향 접촉력이 크게 설계되면 시일 립 선단에서는 마찰과 마멸이 심하게 진행되어 시일수명을 크게 단출시킬 우려가 있고, 접촉력이 작으면 밀봉된 유 체의 누설유려가 증가되면서 볼과 레이스사이의 윤활상태를 나쁘게 하여 베어링 수명 을 크게 단축하는 결과를 초래하게 되므로 시일 립의 접촉력에 관련된 연구는 대단히 중요하다.

  • 7톤급 터보펌프 실매질시험에서 계측된 고주파 신호인 가속도와 압력섭동에 대한 주파수 분석(waterfall, frequency spectrum), 실효값(RMS) 계산 등의 신호 처리를 통해 산화제펌프의 신뢰성을 평가하였다. 계측된 압력섭동 신호 분석을 통해 산화제펌프의 누설 유로에 위치한 산화제 후방 플로팅 링에 의한 강한 압력섭동이 발생하였고 이는 산화제펌프 입구 및 출구 압력과 가속도 신호에도 영향을 주는 것을 확인하였다. 터보펌프의 가속도 실효값 계산을 통해 정격 운용 조건에서의 터보펌프는 양호한 진동 성능을 보여주고 있으며 가속도 회전수 성분 중 축계에 영향을 주는 회전수 동기 주파수 성분이 강하게 나타나는 것을 확인하였다.

대칭단면 원환부품의 평면진동에 관한 연구 (A study on the flexural virations for the ring with symmetrical cross section)

  • Various automotive and machine parts are having the shape of circular ring and the study and the verification of its dynamic characteristics can be the important basis of quality control and improvement of performance of inner and outer race of ball and roller radial bearing, ring gear, seal, etc. In this study, three separate sets of governing equations on the flexural vibration of circular ring were formulated each considering the effects of viscous damping, rotatory inertia and shear deformation, and three frequency formulas were derived. Numerical values of frequencies of circular and rectangular cross section ring were tabulated and compared with experimental value. Some important parameters were found in the ring vibration characteristics.

  • The sealing performance of O-ring is effected in environments of the O-ring seal, like that applied pressure, working temperature, pre-compressed ratio and materials. In this paper, design of composite O-ring under pressurized, compressed was optimized based on Taguchi experimental design method. and it analysed numerically using non-linear finite element method. Ogden model in which is developed based on the experimental data is used for simulating the contact stress and strain in NBR and PTFE materials. Sensitivity analysis was performed with FEM results, which are contact stress, strain and temperature as variable.

초고압 압력용기에서 메탈시일의 설계 안전성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Design Safety of Metal Seals in High Pressure Vessels)

  • 본 논문에서는 고압용기의 밀봉을 위해 사용하는 메탈시일의 설계 안전성에 대한 연구결과를 제시하고 있다. 기본적으로 고압용기의 1차적 밀봉은 메탈시일에 의해 이루어지고, 2차적 밀봉은 탄성체 고무로 제작된 0-링에 의해 가스누출이 차단된다. 유한요소해석 결과에 의하면, 가스누출 차단을 위해 사용한 알루미늄 소재의 밀봉장치는 강재를 사용한 경우보다 우수한 밀봉성을 보여주고 있다. 이것은 알루미늄 소재의 열팽창 특성이 상대적으로 우수하기 때문이다. 메탈시일과 압력용기 구조물에 걸리는 변형과 응력분포는 외부에서 공급된 가스압보다는 용기 내부에서 전달된 온도차에 의해 크게 지배를 받는 것으로 알려져 있다. 따라서 메탈시일의 소재는 통상적으로 $200^{\circ}C$이하로 유지되는 것이 소재의 강도와 밀봉성 측면에서 안전하다.

  • This study was performed to evaluate the dynamic behavior of turbo pump unit. The acceptable separate margin of 1st critical speed was obtained by the use of elastic-ring inserted ball bearing, while the poor separate margin of 1$\^$st/ critical speed was appeared in the case without the elastic-ring. In addition, the results show that the stiffness and damping of plain seals gain more separate margin of 2nd critical speed. However the wear or the failure of seals could reduce the 2$\^$nd/ critical speeds near the operating speed.

자동차 엔진에서 O-링의 압출거동에 관한 수치적 연구 (Numerical Simulations on the O-ring Extrusion in Automotive Engines)

  • O-rings in automotive engines are important components such as a coolant pipe, engine oil circulating lines and fuel injector for sealing that makes efficient performance of the engine. Life cycle of O-rings is effected in environments of the O-ring seal, like that applied pressure, working temperature, precompressed ratio and materials. It is related in extrusion, expansion and fatigue failure of O-rings. In this paper, an pressurized, compressed elastomeric O-ring inserted into a rectangular groove is analysed numerically using the nonlinear finite element method. The calculated FEM results showed that extrusion ratio and contact stress are strongly related to the gap clearance and edge radius of the groove.

자동차용 횔베어링의 기동토크와 밀봉성을 고려한 립 씰의 형상 설계에 관한 연구 (Study on Geometry Design of Lip-Seal for Automobile Wheel Bearing Considering Drag Torque and Sealing Performance)

  • A rubber seal for wheel bearing which has been mainly applied to car wheel supporting device is required to have both high sealing performance and drag torque. Because of severe operational conditions like infiltration of mud or splashed water, the importance of rubber seal which is aimed for leakage prevention of grease and effective blocking of foreign substances has been increasing continuously. The sealing performance of this seal depends on several factors such as materials of seal, friction conditions of contact regions and geometry of seals and so on. We have focused on the effects of geometric characteristics such as the angle of main lip, interference between lip edge and inner metallic ring. In this study, the optimization of geometric variables was performed using the finite element analysis. For the sake of finite element analysis, uniaxial tensile tests were conducted and several constants for Mooney-Rivlin's equation were obtained. According to the results of this study, mock-up bearing was made. To verify this study, drag torque and mud spray test were preformed.

베인 펌프에서 노치와 반경 감소비의 역활에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Role of Notch and Radius Reduction Ratio in the Balanced Type Vane Pump)

  • Pressure ripple of hydraulic vane pump results form flow ripple due to pump geometry and reverse flow through the discharge port due to compressibility of fluid and result in vibration and noise of connected hydraulic elements. In a ba;anced type vane pump, cam ring curve is important factor to influence the flow ripple. Therefore, to reduce the now ripple, it has been required that optimal selection of seal region by proper design of cam ring and each port position, and notches for preventing the excessive reverse flow. This paper has been performed analytical study of compression characteristics with major design parameter in side plate and cam ring, and examined into the role of notch and radius reduction ratio.
