  • RIB(Rigid Inflatable Boat) is widely used for coastal transportation in the commercial use and for ISR(Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) in the military use. Since RIB is around 10 meters in length and over 30 knots in speed, its motion characteristics in waves is quite different from a large scale ship. When it turns, large roll occurs and heeling direction is opposite to the large ship's case. Currently, many countries are developing USV(Unmanned Surface Vehicle) of which type is RIB. In order to develop high performance autopilot and way point controller, it is very important to identify RIB's motion characteristics. In this paper, sea trial test results of a 7-meter RIB such as speed, turning, zig-zag, and way point control tests were represented and its resistance and propulsion model was identified by using sea trial data and Savitsky's formula. In addition, the state space model which will be used in the identification of the four-degree-of-freedom dynamics in the next step was formulated and the identification procedure was proposed.

Study of the sealing performance of tubing adapters in gas-tight deep-sea water sampler

  • Tubing adapter is a key connection device in Gas-Tight Deep-Sea Water Sampler (GTWS). The sealing performance of the tubing adapter directly affects the GTWS's overall gas tightness. Tubing adapters with good sealing performance can ensure the transmission of seawater samples without gas leakage and can be repeatedly used. However, the sealing performance of tubing adapters made of different materials was not studied sufficiently. With the research discussed in this paper, the materials match schemes of the tubing adapters were proposed. With non-linear finite element contact analysis and sea trials in the South China Sea, it is expected that the recommended materials match schemes not only meet the requirements of tubing adapters' sealing performance but also provide the feasible options for the following research on tubing adapters in GTWS.

생태계모델을 이용한 동해 심층수 개발해역의 수질환경 변화예측 (A Numerical Prediction for Water Quality at the Developing Region of Deep Sea Water in the East Sea Using Ecological Model)

  • As a basic study for developing a forecasting/estimating system that predicts water quality changes when Deep Sea Water (DSW) drains to the ocean after using it, this study was carried out as follows: 1) numerical simulation of the present state at DSW developing region in the East sea using SWEM, 2) numerical prediction of water quality changes by effluent DSW, 3) analysis of influence degree 'With defined DEI (DSW effect index) at F station. On the whole, when DSW drained to the ocean, Chl-a, COD and water-temperature were decreased and DIN, DIP and DO were increased by effluent DSW, and Salinity was steady. According to analysis of influence degree, the influence degree of DIN was the highest and it was high in order of Chl-a, COD, Water-temperature, DO, DIP and Salinity. The influence degree classified by DSW effluent position was predicted that suiface outflow was lower than bottom outflow. Ad When DSW discharge increased 10 times, the influence degree increased about $5{\sim}14$ times.

손상된 카페리 선박의 파랑중 자항상태 CFD 해석 (CFD Simulation of the Self-propulsion of a damaged Car Ferry in Waves)

  • This paper provides the numerical results for the self-propulsion performance in waves of a car ferry vessel with damage in one of its twin-screw propulsion systems without flooding the engine room. The numerical simulations were carried out according to the Safe Return to Port (SRtP) regulation made by the Lloyd's register, where the regulation requires that damaged passenger ships should have an ability to return to port with a speed of 6 knots in a Beaufort 8 sea condition. For the validation of the present numerical analysis study, the resistance performance and the self-propulsion performance of the car ferry in intact and damaged conditions in calm water were calculated, which showed a satisfactory agreement with the model test results of Korea Research Institute of Ship and Ocean engineering (KRISO). Finally, the numerical simulation of self-propulsion performance in waves of the damaged car ferry ship was carried out for a normal sea state and for a Beaufort 8 sea state, respectively. The estimated average Brake Horse Power (BHP) for keeping the damaged car ferry ship advancing at a speed of 6 knots in a Beaufort 8 sea state reached about 47% of BHP at MCR condition or about 56% of BHP at NCR condition of the engine determined at the design state. In conclusion, it can be noted that the engine power of the damaged car ferry ship in single propulsion condition is sufficient to satisfy the SRtP requirement.

수산자원전용조사선 탐구 21호에 탑재된 최첨단 음향장비 소개와 첫 시험조사 (First Trial of the State of the Art Acoustic Systems Mounted on the R/V Tamgu 21)

  • At the first time in South Korea, the state of the art acoustic systems were mounted on the R/V Tamgu 21. The acoustic systems are an EK80 broadband echosounder (18, 38, 70, 120, 200 and 333 kHz) which has two beam modes such as continuous wave (narrowband) and frequency modulation (broadband), an ME70 multibeam echosounder (70-120 kHz), and a SH90 sonar (111.5-115.5 kHz). Acoustic data from broadband mode have a very short range resolution, a large detection range, a high signal to noise ratio, and a wide and consecutive frequency response. In ME70, each individual beam consisted in a multibeam plays a role as a spilt beam. The first trial of the cutting edge acoustic system installed on the R/V Tamgu 21 was conducted from 15 Feb to 29 Feb 2016 in East Sea, South Sea and East China Sea. The properties of the acoustic systems were elucidated and exploratory results from three systems were exhibited. Lastly, issues which should be considered and future research plan are mentioned.

  • Although mud shrimp (Upogebia Major) provides benefits on the tidal flat ecosystem, it is causing the mass mortality of Manila clam (Tapes philippinarum) and large economic loss to the aquaculture farmer due to spreading in the entire coastal clam farm area of the West Sea of Korea. In this study, a mud shrimp blocking box for cultivating clam was tested to prevent the mud shrimp from invading the habitat of the clam. To determine the effect of the blocking box, the growth characteristics of the clams under various culture conditions were investigated. The shell length, total weight, condition index, the presence of mud shrimp in the box, and the soil decay in the box were examined according to whether the clams were raised in the box or in natural state, whether the box is covered with a net or not and the gap size of the box. As a result, no significant differences in shell length, total weight, and condition index were found between the clam grown in the box and the natural state (P>0.05) without any evidence of invading of mud shrimp to the box. In addition, the soil inside the box was in good condition, not decayed. Therefore, using the mud shrimp blocking box, mud shrimp can be prevented from propagating to the habitat of the clam, thereby contributing to the normal production of the clam and thus to restoring the clam farming.

천체의 궤도 운동 주기 분석을 통한 명량대첩 당시의 명량수도 조류 상태에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Tidal Current State of Myeongnyang Strait on the Date of Myeongnyang Sea Battle, by Orbital Period of Celestial Body)

  • 명량대첩(鳴梁大捷)은 1597년 음력 9월 16일(양력 10월 25일) 정유재란 당시 충무공 이순신의 지휘를 받는 조선 수군 전함 13척이 일본 수군 전함 133척을 물리친 세계 해전사에 빛나는 전투이며, 정유재란의 판도를 바꾼 대첩이다. 이충무공은 13척의 조선 수군 전선으로 수백 척의 적선을 대적하는 데에 있어서, 명량수도의 좁은 지형과 독특한 조류를 이용하고자 하여 9월 15일에 해남 우수영으로 진영을 옮긴 다음 날에 명량해협에서 적선을 맞이하였다. 본 연구에서는 명량대첩 당시에 조 일 양국 수군의 전함 기동에 큰 영향을 준 명량해협의 조류 상태를 추산하기 위한 분석을 수행하였다. 연구에 있어서는 평형조석론(equilibrium theory of tide)과 동력학적 조석론(dynamical theory of tide)을 기반으로 하여, 지구에 대한 천체(달, 태양)의 위상이 명량대첩 당시에 있어서의 위상과 동일하게 되는 회귀시점을 천체 운동의 주기를 분석함으로써 계산하였다. 그리고 그 회귀시점에 대하여 조화분석법으로 계산한 조석 자료를 적용하는 방법으로 명량대첩 당시의 조류 상태를 추산하였다. 그 결과, 명량수도의 조류는 새벽 06시 36분에 전류해서 북서쪽으로 흐르기 시작하여 09시30분에 최대 유속인 8.3노트에 이르렀고, 12시 48분에 다시 남동쪽으로 전류하여 16시 12분에 최대 유속인 9.9노트에 도달한 다음, 19시 06분에 북서쪽으로 다시 전류하였다고 판단할 수가 있었다.

A Novel pH-Stable, Bifunctional Xylanase Isolated from a Deep-Sea Microorganism, Demequina sp. JK4

  • A genomic library was constructed to clone a xylanase gene (Mxyn10) from Demequina sp. JK4 isolated from a deep sea. Mxyn10 encoded a 471 residue protein with a calculated molecular mass of 49 kDa. This protein showed the highest sequence identity (70%) with the xylanase from Streptomyces lividans. Mxyn10 contains a catalytic domain that belongs to the glycoside hydrolase family 10 (GH10) and a carbohydrate-binding module (CBM) belonging to family 2. The optimum pH and temperature for enzymatic activity were pH 5.5 and $55^{\circ}C$, respectively. Mxyn10 exhibited good pH stability, remaining stable after treatment with buffers ranging from pH 3.5 to 10.0. The protein was not significantly affected by a variety of chemical reagents, including some compounds that usually inhibit the activity of other related enzymes. In addition, Mxyn10 showed activity on cellulose. These properties mark Mxyn10 as a potential enzyme for industrial application and saccharification processes essential for bioethanol production.

해면산란이 QPSK 성능에 미치는 영향 (Impact of Sea Surface Scattering on Performance of QPSK)

  • 해면 상태의 변화는 수중 음향 통신 수신 신호에 전방 산란 및 도플러 확산을 야기하여 수신 신호의 진폭, 주파수 및 위상은 시간적으로 변화한다. 따라서 통신채널의 일관성 대역폭과 페이딩 변화에 의해 고속 동기식 디지털 통신 성능은 장애를 받게 된다. 본 논문에서는 2가지의 해면 상태에서 QPSK의 성능을 평가하였다. 해면 산란이 성능에 미치는 영향은 LFM 신호를 이용하여 구한 채널의 임펄스 응답과 시간 일관성을 기반으로 해석하였다. 잔잔한 해면보다 거친 해면 상태의 임펄스 응답은 불안정하고 일관성 시간은 짧다. 이러한 결과와 수신 신호의 포락선, 진폭 및 위상과의 관계를 해석하여 QPSK의 비트 오류율이 해면 상태와 직접적으로 관계되는 것을 확인하였다.

월류 시 마운드형태 방조제에 작용하는 압력과 유속 산정 (Estimation of Overflow-Induced Pressure and Velocity on a Mound-Type Sea Dike)

  • 해일에 의한 바닷물의 월류는 방조제 구조물에 피해를 유발시킨다. 지금까지 발생된 마운드 형태 방조제의 파괴 유형 조사 결과, 육지 쪽 마루부 파손과 선단부의 세굴이 대표적인 파괴 사례로 지목되었다. 이와 같은 파괴를 유발하는 가장 큰 원인은 월류에 의해 발생된 압력과 유속이다. 본 연구에서는 에너지 관점에서 마운드 형태 방조제에서 압력과 유속을 산정할 수 있는 이론해를 제안하고 검증하였다. 이를 위해 방조제 마루부와 선단부에 흐름을 유사정적비회전류로 보고 동심원유선이 형성된다고 가정하였다. 한계흐름조건과 베르누이정리를 이용하여 방조제 마루부와 배면 선단부에서의 작용하는 압력 및 유속 산정식을 유도하였다. 이들 식을 이용하여 동심원유선 및 월류고를 가정하여 마루부와 선단부에서 압력과 유속을 산정하였다. 그 결과 마루부에서는 부의 압력이 선단부에서는 양의 압력이 각각 크게 작용하는 것으로 나타났으며 유속에 의한 전단응력도 작용하는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 제안된 이론해의 적용 한계에 대한 고찰도 이루어졌다.
