The purpose of this study were to know the effects of making science newspaper activity on the science inquiry process ability of elementary school students and to analyse the writing context about their articles. The 33 sixth grader were participated in this program and they made 3 or 4 make a group, 9 groups made their own science newspaper. The results are as follow: first, there were statistically significantly differences(p<.01) on the basic science inquiry process abilities especially measurement and reasoning on making science newspaper activity. But there were no significantly differences on the integrative science inquiry process abilities; second, according to their articles on science newspaper, in personal context, they used many terms such as ecosystem, producer, consumer, decomposer, balance, but it was not personalized. And in social context, They pointed the cause and solution for the pollution and destruction in ecosystem, but it was superficial. Lastly in physical context, They used well their science concepts from class and format in newspaper in making science newspaper.

The purpose of this study was to develop instructional strategy for newspaper-based science writing and to examine the effect of its application. The target unit was 'change of weather' and 'a variety of gas' in the sixth grade of elementary school, and the teaching strategy was composed of 3 stages-writing including realistic, interpretative and comprehensive writing. The result of applying this strategy into actual classrooms was as follows. First, it was proven that the science writing strategy using newspaper articles actually helped improving science process skills of learners, in particular, integrated process skills. Second, this strategy for science writing changed the scientific attitude of learners positively. While they read the newspaper articles, their thinking became more elaborate and systemized, which seemed to serve to foster their openness, criticism, and perseverance. Third, the science writing strategy did not contribute to the improvement of learners' science study achievement. To improve the understanding of scientific concepts and principles of learners, it is needed that teaching program combines with argument-based activity organically. The above-mentioned findings show that this instructional strategy using newspaper articles can be applicable as one of effective methods in science writing.

Effective indexing systems are required to enhance the performance of full-text retrieval systems. The result of the analysis of index terms selected by human indexers without a newspaper thesaurus indicates that controlled indexing language is necessary for effective and consistent indexing of newspaper articles. In this paper, basic principles are established for keyword selection from Korean newspapers and significant problems identified in the process of developing a newspaper thesaurus are discussed in depth.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to devise a way of the dental hygienist to explore the articles of dental hygienist that were presented in the newspaper during the recent 3 years of Korea. Methods : This study is to examine dental hygienist articles with content analysis in the KINDS(Korean Integrated News Database System) of the Korean Press Foundation. Data were gathered from the printed newspaper of Korea over a period of 3 years - 1 March, 2005 to 30 March 2008. News reports, comments and letters to the editor were analysed, which revealed an image of dental hygienist that we would like to explore and debate. The obtained data from the frequency, percentage, chi-squared test between categories after inter-coder reliability test (reliability 0.96). Results : The articles of dental hygienist according to type of newspaper, 'local newspaper' showed higher frequency than 'metropolitan newspaper'. It mix '치과위생사'(42.3%), '치위생사'(49.4%), and '위생사'(3.9%) in use of name. The article pattern, 'news' 40.0%, 'information commentary' 18.3%, 'interview man' 15.8%, 'special news' 14.2% in metropolitan newspaper, then, 'news' 72.6%, 'information commentary' 23.2% in local newspaper (p<0.05). Most plenty of subject is 'administration system', and then 'celebration', 'publicity'. It showed 'seoul' was 'information commentary', 'country' was 'administration system', 'whole' was 'legal duty', 'unrelated area' was 'social living' in the topic of article according to newsbeat(p<0.05). Conclusions : These results suggest that it is necessary to publicity name, duty of dental hygienist in metropolitan newspaper officially.

Newspaper Article Information is an important source of information on social phenomenon with historical value. The development of computer and technology of information communication enables the construction of Newspaper Article Database by CTS and service through computer communication. It made it possible for the peoples to utilize the Newspaper Article Information easily. However, it is very difficult to utilize the currently prevailing system. There are differences in classification system of Newspaper Article Database and the Data Display Format. This survey aims to review the characteristics of Newspaper Article Database and current domestic computer communication service system. By comparing the classification system of Retrieval Menu and Data Display Format, I intended to suggest the standardized way of utilization which enables the users utilize them more easily and conveniently. The results of this survey is as follows : 1. More sub-divided distinction of classification item is required. 2. Separate classification item should be established for the distinction of article form which is very difficult to classify the subject. 3. Data Display Format should be equi n.0, pped with standardized format and signal which enables the users recognize it easily.

This rearch is a case study for the newspaper libraries in Seoul and the primary purpose of the this study are to investigate its document delivery capability. To achieve the above-mentioned purpose, representative rsers visited seven the newspaper library and checked their searching time. Document delivery capability was checked by units of hour, minute, second(searching time). Retrieval effectiveness was tested through the recall ratio and the precision ratio. The major findings of the study are summarized as follows： 1) Most of the newspaper libraries excellent to the document delivery capability； 6 newspaper libraries deliverived the data related subject. 2) The newspaper libraries were came out 50.1% the mean recall ratio and 84.8% the mean precision ratio about the all materials. 3) Concerned their own articles, the newspaper libraries showed 71.4% the recall ratio and 90.0% the precision ratio. That moaned their own articles were more effectived than others. 4) The Kookmin Ilbo library had the most excellent system, and the precision ratio of The Dong-A Ilbo library prior to the recall ratio. The Han Kyoreh Shinmun library had a excellent arragement in own articles, but The Segye Times library had problem in every parties.

Comparing text features involves evaluating the "similarity" between texts. It is crucial to use appropriate similarity measures when comparing similarities. This study utilized various techniques to assess the similarities between newspaper articles, including deep learning and a previously proposed method: a combination of Pointwise Mutual Information (PMI) and Word Pair Matching (WPM), denoted as PMI+WPM. For performance comparison, law data from medical research in Japan were utilized as validation data in evaluating the PMI+WPM method. The distribution of similarities in text data varies depending on the evaluation technique and genre, as revealed by the comparative analysis. For newspaper data, non-deep learning methods demonstrated better similarity evaluation accuracy than deep learning methods. Additionally, evaluating similarities in law data is more challenging than in newspaper articles. Despite deep learning being the prevalent method for evaluating textual similarities, this study demonstrates that non-deep learning methods can be effective regarding Japanese-based texts.

본 연구는 은평구립도서관의 신문기사 분석사례를 통해 신문기사를 통한 공공도서관의 홍보의 실태를 살펴보고 이해하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 본 논문은 신문기사를 통한 공공도서관의 홍보에 대한 이론적 배경을 살펴 본 후, 은평구립도서관과 관련된 2010년도 신문기사를 기사유형, 기사종류, 기사성격, 기사내용 등으로 나누어 살펴보았다. 또한 본 탐색적 사례연구는 내용분석, 면담, 현장방문 등을 통하여 은평구립도서관과 관련된 2010년도 신문기사를 홍보주체, 홍보대상, 홍보방향, 그리고 홍보방법 등 공공도서관의 홍보에 영향을 미치는 요소들을 중심으로 분석하였다.
