Traditional methods for datamining typically assume that the data is small, centralized, memory resident and static. But this assumption is no longer acceptable, because datasets are growing very fast hence becoming huge from time to time. There is fast growing need to manage data with efficient mining algorithms. In such a scenario it is inevitable to carry out data mining in a distributed environment and Frequent Itemset Mining (FIM) is no exception. Thus, the need of an efficient incremental mining algorithm arises. We propose the Distributed Incremental Approximate Frequent Itemset Mining (DIAFIM) which is an incremental FIM algorithm and works on the distributed parallel MapReduce environment. The key contribution of this research is devising an incremental mining algorithm that works on the distributed parallel MapReduce environment.

The purpose of this study was to develop a tool for K-12 science curriculum articulation analysis, especially the concept map of 'properties of matter' and the table of the key concepts of 'properties of matter' by grade. We have 5 steps for the purpose; to extract common subject of K-12 science curriculums, to analyze the contents of K-12 science curriculum related to the common subject, to develop and analyze concept maps of K-12 science curriculums, to develop common concept map and the table of key concepts by grade of K-12 science curriculum, and to modify and clear up the concept map and the table. First two steps are related to the develop of 'water' concept map, and the others are related to the 'properties of matter' concept map.

Background: Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis (MAP) causes a chronic and progressive granulomatous enteritis and economic losses in dairy cattle in subclinical stages. Subclinical infection in cattle can be detected using serum MAP antibody enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and fecal polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests. Objectives: To investigate the differences in blood parameters, according to the detection of MAP using serum antibody ELISA and fecal PCR tests. Methods: We divided 33 subclinically infected adult cattle into three groups: seronegative and fecal-positive (SNFP, n = 5), seropositive and fecal-negative (SPFN, n = 10), and seropositive and fecal-positive (SPFP, n = 18). Hematological and serum biochemical analyses were performed. Results: Although the cows were clinically healthy without any manifestations, the SNFP and SPFP groups had higher platelet counts, mean platelet volumes, plateletcrit, lactate dehydrogenase levels, lactate levels, and calcium levels but lower mean corpuscular volume concentration than the SPFN group (p < 0.017). The red blood cell count, hematocrit, monocyte count, glucose level, and calprotectin level were different according to the detection method (p < 0.05). The SNFP and SPFP groups had higher red blood cell counts, hematocrit and calprotectin levels, but lower monocyte counts and glucose levels than the SPFN group, although there were no significant differences (p > 0.017). Conclusions: The cows with fecal-positive MAP status had different blood parameters from those with fecal-negative MAP status, although they were subclinically infected. These findings provide new insights into understanding the mechanism of MAP infection in subclinically infected cattle.

The effect of modified atmosphere packaging (MAP; 30% $CO_2$+70% $N_2$ or 100% $N_2$) and an additive mixture (500 ppm rosemary extract, 3,000 ppm sodium acetate and 1,500 ppm calcium lactate) on the quality of pre-cooked hamburger patties during storage at $5^{\circ}C$ for 14 d was evaluated. The addition of the additive mixture reduced aerobic and anaerobic bacteria counts in both 30% $CO_2$-MAP (30% $CO_2$+70% $N_2$) and 100% $N_2$-MAP (p<0.05). The 30% $CO_2$-MAP was more effective to suppress the microbial growth than 100% $N_2$-MAP, moreover the 30% $CO_2$-MAP combined with additive mixture resulted in the lowest bacterial counts. The hamburger patties with additive mixture showed lower CIE $L^*$ and CIE $a^*$, and higher CIE $b^*$ than those with no additive mixture. The 30% $CO_2$-MAP tended to decrease the TBARS during storage regardless of the addition of additives. The use of 30% $CO_2$-MAP in combination with additives mixture was effective for maintaining the quality and extending the shelf-life of pre-cooked hamburger patties.
p38 MAP kinase belongs to the Mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase family; a serine/threonine kinase. It plays an important role in intracellular signal transduction pathways. It is associated with the development and progression of various cancer types making it a crucial drug target. Present study involves the HQSAR analysis of recently reported imidazo[1,2-b]pyridazine derivatives as p38 MAP kinase antagonists. The model was generated with Atom (A), bond (B), chirality (Ch), and hydrogen (H) parameters and with different set of atom counts to improve the model. An acceptable HQSAR model ($q^2=0.522$, SDEP=0.479, NOC=5, $r^2=0.703$, SEE=0.378, BHL=97) was developed which exhibits good predictive ability. A contribution map for the most active compound (compound 17) illustrated that hydrogen and nitrogen atoms in the ring A and ring B, as well as nitrogen atom in ring C and the hydrogen atom in the ring D provided positive activity in inhibitory effect while, the least active compound (compound 05) possessed negative contribution to inhibitory effect. Hence, analysis of produced HQSAR model can provide insights in the designing potent and selective p38 MAP kinase antagonists.

Turbo code has been adopted in the 3GPP standard, since its performance is very close to the Shannon limit. However, the turbo decoder requires a lot of computations and the amount of the memory increases as the block size of turbo codes becomes larger. In order to reduce the complexity of the turbo decoder, the Log-MAP, the Max-Log-MAP and the sliding window algorithm have been proposed. In this paper, the performance of turbo codes adopted in the 3GPP standard is analyzed by using the floating point and the fixed point implementation. The efficient decoding method is also proposed. It is shown that the BER performance of the proposed method is close to that of the Log-MAP algorithm.

Traditional recommendation algorithms on Collaborative Filtering (CF) mainly focus on the rating prediction with explicit ratings, and cannot be applied to the top-N recommendation with implicit feedbacks. To tackle this problem, we propose a new collaborative filtering approach namely Maximize MAP with Matrix Factorization (MFMAP). In addition, in order to solve the problem of non-smoothing loss function in learning to rank (LTR) algorithm based on pairwise, we also propose a smooth MAP measure which can be easily implemented by standard optimization approaches. We perform experiments on three different datasets, and the experimental results show that the performance of MFMAP is significantly better than other recommendation approaches.

This study was to promote meaning ways of leaning and observe the influence of concept maps on middle school students' conceptual formation with regards to the topic of the 'sea water'. Concept map is one way to examine a leaner's conceptual formation process. The subjects of this study consisted of four classes within the first grade students of a Busan middle school, which were divided into two groups: the experimental group which applied concept map teaching and the ordinary teaching group. This study was carried out before and after class, examining the science leaning achievement, self-directed leaning characteristics, and awareness change on the concept maps. The result of this study was as follows: First, the leaning achievement of middle school students was positively affected by the use of concept maps. Second, the teaching method with concept map was more effective self-directed leaning characteristics compared to the ordinary one. Third, concept map teaching was a positive reaction to conceptual formation.

The study of Euclidean submanifolds with finite type "classical" Gauss map was initiated by B.-Y. Chen and P. Piccinni in [11]. On the other hand, it was believed that for spherical sub manifolds the concept of spherical Gauss map is more relevant than the classical one (see [20]). Thus the purpose of this article is to initiate the study of spherical submanifolds with finite type spherical Gauss map. We obtain several fundamental results in this respect. In particular, spherical submanifolds with 1-type spherical Gauss map are classified. From which we conclude that all isoparametric hypersurfaces of $S^{n+1}$ have 1-type spherical Gauss map. Among others, we also prove that Veronese surface and equilateral minimal torus are the only minimal spherical surfaces with 2-type spherical Gauss map.
