'화석 모형 만들기' 탐구활동에 대한 초등교사의 인식 분석 - 6차, 7차, 2007 개정, 2009 개정 초등과학 교과서를 중심으로 - (An Analysis of the Elementary Teachers' Conceptions on the Inquiry Activity about 'Make a Fossil Model' - Focusing the 6th, 7th, 2007 Revised, 2009 Revised Elementary Science Textbook -)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the elementary teachers' conceptions on the inquiry activity about 'make a fossil model' focusing the 6th, 7th, 2007 revised, and 2009 revised elementary science textbook. This study is intended to find causes of teachers' conceptions and to derive educational implications. We have analyzed questionnaires which were collected from 77 elementary school teachers. It was carried out about comparisons actual fossil with fossil model in each step of the inquiry activity, the lesson goal, the thought for changes of the inquiry activity, the improvement of the inquiry and conception related fossil. Teachers have a general understanding about the contents of the inquiry activity but some of them have partially incorrect understanding. And they emphasize the understanding of the concept on lesson goal. It is necessary to improve inquiry activity reflecting teachers' thinking about the merit and weaknesses. There was not statistically difference in understanding of fossil related concepts according to teachers' career, teaching or training experience. Through this research, there is a need to improve a textbook, a guide book, a teachers' training. So, teachers who have professionalism about science textbook be able to teach students.

2007년 개정 초등 5, 6학년 과학 교과서 물질 영역에 제시된 탐구 활동 분석 (Analysis of Inquiry Activities in Matter Units from the Elementary 5th and 6th Grade Science Textbooks based on the 2007 Revised National Curriculum)

  • This study analyzed the inquiry activities in the 'matter' units from each science textbook for the fifth and the sixth graders developed by the 2007 revised national curriculum, using Practical Activity Analysis Inventory proposed by Millar(2009) to examine types of learning objectives, hands-on contents(what students have to do with objects and materials), minds-on contents(what students have to 'do' with ideas), and logical structure each activity had. The results of this study are as follows: First, most learning objectives of the inquiry activities seems to be suitable for the standards of 2007 revised national curriculum. Second, the standards of 2007 revised national curriculum are properly reflected in hands-on contents of inquiry activities. Third, minds-on contents of inquiry activities are well developed to meet the standards of 2007 revised national curriculum as a whole. Fourth, the logical structures of inquiry activities are mostly adequate for achieving the goals of the 2007 revised national curriculum. In the textbook for the fifth graders, however, all the activities are focusing too much on using students' current ideas to generate a prediction and collecting data to explore or test it. Based on these findings, this research has concluded that learning objectives, minds-on contents and logical structures of inquiry activities need to be designed carefully for students to be exposed to various activities when developing following textbooks.

과학적 탐구학습 가상환경을 위한 2차원 Drawing 기반 저작도구 (The 2D Drawing-Based Authoring Tool for Scientific Inquiry Learning Virtual Environments)

  • 본 논문은 과학적 탐구학습을 지원하는 비쥬얼 가상환경 저작도구 DEVISE(Drawing Environment for VR-based Inquiry-learning Science Education)에 대해서 설명한다. DEVISE는 프로그래밍 전문지식이 없는 일반인들이 2차원 Drawing 인터페이스를 사용하여 3차원 개체와 변인데이터 설정을 함으로써 탐구학습을 위한 가상현실 콘텐츠를 쉽고 빠르게 개발할 수 있도록 도와준다. 본 논문에서는 먼저 가상현실 저작도구들과 탐구학습 가상환경 관련 저작 도구에 관한 연구들과 탐구학습을 위한 가상환경 통합 시스템인 SASILE를 살펴보고 SASILE의 문제점을 지적한다. 그리고 DEVISE 구성요소와 DEVISE 도구를 사용한 작업 흐름 (Workflow)에 대해서 설명하고,탐구학습 가상현실 콘텐츠를 개발하는 사용자평가실험 관찰결과에 대해서 논한다.

관찰에 의한 분류하기 탐구 능력 평가 준거 개발 (Development of a Standard to Assess Classifying Inquiry Skills by Observation)

  • The purpose of this research is to develop standards with which we can design an instrument to assess classifying inquiry skills by observing students' behavior and reported outcome which is not the paper and pencil test. This research is focused on developing a standard for analysis of classifying ability among research functions. To identify classifying inquiry skills, standards from classifying behaviors were comparing ways with other cards and using information included in the cards; Standards selected from the final reports were the appropriateness, inconsistency and hierarchy of the classification outcome. The standards were initially selected during the class with picture cards printed various birds appearances on the front side and their traits on the back which was specially designed among sixth graders. The picture cards prepared with plant leaves and stems had designed to identify whether standards was effective to assess student's classifying ability. The standards was an effective tool to assess student's classifying inquiry skills.

과학 탐구 학습 문제의 유형 및 특성 분석 연구: 라우든(Laudan)의 과학 철학을 바탕으로 (The Types and Characteristics of Science Inquiry Problems: An Analysis Based Upon the Laudanian Philosophy of Science)

  • Scientificc inquiry has been a major goal and a vehicle to teach science in schools since Curriculum Reform Era. Based upon the Laudanian philosophy of science, scientific inquiry problems were classified and their characteristics were identified. Science inquiry problems could be classified as empirical and conceptual problems. Empirical problems consist of unsolved, solved, and anomalous problems. Internal and external conceptual problems are included in conceptual problems. Effective teaching methods for solving empirical and conceptual science problems are discussed. The implications of Laudanian philosophy of science for science teaching were also discussed.

과학마술을 활용한 수업이 초등학생의 과학적 태도와 과학탐구능력에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Science Magic on the Elementary Learners' Scientific Attitude and Scientific Inquiry Ability)

  • In this study, we investigate the effects of instruction using science magic program on the scientific attitude and scientific inquiry ability in elementary students. For this study, it was chosen two classes of the forth grades J elementary school in Seoul. Instruction using science magic program was applied to the experimental group for 8 weeks during the school hours. The results of this study were as follows : 1. Science tasks applied science magic had influence on elementary learners' scientific attitude in positive way. 2. Science tasks applied science magic had valuable significance to observation, classification, data intepretation ability. However it had no valuable significance to scientific integrated inquiry.

과학탐구에 대한 중등 초임교사의 인식: Hands-on, Minds-on, Hearts-on의 관점으로 (Secondary Beginning Teachers' Views of Scientific Inquiry: With the View of Hands-on, Minds-on, and Hearts-on)

  • 과학교육의 목표인 과학탐구에 대해서 초임과학교사들은 어떻게 인식하고 있는지를 조사하였다. 교사의 과학탐구에 대한 인식은 학생들의 과학탐구에 대한 인식에 영향을 미치는 것을 고려할 때 연구의 의미가 있다고 할 수 있겠다. 126명의 초임교사들을 대상으로 일반적인 과학탐구에 대한 인식과, 과학의 본성, 그리고 과학-기술-사회의 관계에 대한 인식을 파악할 수 있는 설문지를 개발하였다. 초임과학교사에 의한 과학의 본성과 과학-기술-사회 관계에 대한 인식을 포함하여 전반적인 과학탐구에 대한 인식은 코딩작업을 통해 파악되었으며 이 과정을 통한 자료수집 및 분석의 타당성 및 신뢰성은 과학교육전문가와의 토론을 통해 구축되었다. 이 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 초임교사들은 과학탐구를 실험적인 절차적 기술과 과학적 사고를 함양하는 기회로 정의하고는 있지만 과학탐구를 하는 이유와 과학탐구를 실행하는 데 있어 교사의 역할은 실험적인 절차적 기술을 함양하는 기회로 파악하고 있었다. 과학탐구에 대한 정의나 목적 또는 교사의 역할에 대해서는 정의적 영역에 해당하는 요소는 거의 파악되지 않았다. 과학의 본성에 대해서는 과학적 관점보다는 순수한 관점으로 인식하고 있었으며 과학-기술-사회의 관계에 대한 인식은 긍정적인 태도를 보여 주었었다. 초임교사를 위한 조직적인 교사교육을 개발할 필요가 있다.

초등학생의 자유 탐구 활동 보고서의 평가 준거 개발 및 적용 (Development and Application of Evaluation Criteria for Free Inquiry Activity Reports of Elementary School Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop criteria for evaluating final reports of free inquiry activity and to apply developed evaluation criteria to free inquiry activity reports. 323 inquiry reports submitted to internal contests in the elementary schools as well as 189 award-winning ones from the inquiry competition for students in Seoul were collected. Nine categories and 18 sub-categories of evaluation criteria were derived by collecting reports analysis, literature reviews and interviews with 15 elementary school teachers. Criteria for each sub-category were organized into three steps and 12 elementary school teachers assigned scores for each sub-category, which were averaged. 132 including both award-winning and general reports were evaluated based on the developed evaluation criteria. The content validity and the reliability across scorers were significant. Furthermore, award-winning and general reports were significantly distinguished by the developed criteria in terms of all sub-category scores. The developed evaluation criteria will be an effective tool to asses student's free inquiry activity.

소집단 탐구기법을 활용한 '계절의 변화 원인' 학습이 공간지각 개념 및 창의적 인성에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of the Space Perception Ability and Creative Personality 'Source of Season Change' Using Small Inquiry Method)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of small inquiry method on space perception ability and creative personality. Testees of this research are 36 elementary pre-service teachers taking an astronomical observation class. Doing inquiry activity after 36 elementary pre-service teachers are classified into 6 Jigsaw small inquiry. Learning activity was split into two groups, expert group and a population. To find out research outcome, pre-test was executed space perception ability test, creative personality test. Analysis of test result was accomplished with statistical package SPSS 18.0 paired t testing hypothesis. The results of this study are as follows. First, 'source of season change' class using Jigsaw small inquiry method has effect on space perception ability improvement. This was interpreted that space perception ability improvement was effective because characteristic of Jigsaw small inquiry is made up of lots of semin Second, 'source of season change' class using Jigsaw small inquiry method has no effect on creative personality. This was interpreted that experiment and discussion activity getting accomplished in a short time has no effect on qualitative characterizing Creative Personality improvement.

과학적 탐구활동에서 나타난 초등학생들의 화강암 관찰결과의 특징과 타당성 연구 (The Study of the Characteristics and the Proprieties of the Granite Observing Results in the Elementary Students' Scientific Inquiry Activities)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics and proprieties of the granite observing results in the 4th grades elementary students' scientific inquiry activities. For this, the 4th, 94 students participated in granite observing activity which had objects to collecting applicable scientific facts for the distinguishing granite among the volcanic rocks. Following are the study results. First, the 829s of total results (879s) were admitted as the facts, but the rest, 50s were not the facts but the inference results. Second, the 542s results which were related to the shape, weigh, size, smell, sound, and touch (feeling) containing glittering of the rock specimen were the useless for the inquiry objects. And only the 85s results were the scientific facts which were deserved the admitting propriety for the inquiry objects. Third, the 185s results which were targeting to the particles (minerals) on the rock specimen were the admitting facts, but the 163s facts which were related to color, size and shape of the particles were deserved as admitting propriety for the inquiry objects. Consequently, the focusing on the proprieties of the granite observing results in the elementary students' scientific inquiry activities, only the 248 results (28.2%) of the total 879s were the admitting proprieties as the meaningful scientific facts in the scientific inquiry activities.
