2009개정 3~4학년군 과학교육과정과 연계한 체험학습 장소 및 과제형 체험학습 프로그램 개발 (The Development of Experiential Places and a Task-based Experiential Learning Program in 3~4th Grade Curriculum of 2009)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a program that enables students to participate in various experiential learning places in order to provide various experiences to students for solve the problem of prejudice to specific places such as science museum, zoo and botanical garden. For this purpose, the surveys were conducted about experiential places and awareness of experiential learning. 88 elementary school teachers participated in the survey. As a result, they were positive about the use of experiential learning in elementary science instruction, but there were responses that a lot of preparations for the progress and efforts were needed. Therefore, if instructional materials and teaching materials for experiential learning are given, it is confirmed that the intention of using is increased. And the results were analyzed and the experiential sites were categorized into 12 types. We could present basic data that can diversify not only the science museum but also science related experiential places. We developed a learning program related to 'The Liquid and Gas' unit of the third grade, And 'Life unit of Plant' unit of the third $4^{th}$ grade. Through this study, we intend to help science experiential learning to be activated and student - centered experiential learning to be realized.

초점집단 면담을 통한 초등교사의 과학 체험학습 운영에서 겪는 어려움 분석 (Analysis of the Difficulties Faced by Elementary School Teachers in Science Experiential Learning Using Focus Group Interview)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 과학 체험학습을 운영하는 과정에서 초등교사가 겪는 어려움과 학교 현장의 분위기를 심층적으로 알아보고자 한 것이다. 본 연구를 위해 과학 체험학습의 활동 경험이 풍부한 5명의 초등교사와 초점집단 면담을 진행하였다. 면담을 통해 체험학습의 운영실태, 과학체험학습의 운영, 계획 수립 및 진행, 평가에 걸쳐 자료를 수집하였다. 본 연구의 주된 결과는 다음과 같다. 교사들은 예산에 대한 고민을 가장 먼저 꼽았으며, 과학교과와 연계하여 체험학습을 운영하고자 하는 경우 교육과정 재구성에 대하여 부담을 지니고 있었다. 또한 과학 체험학습시 과학지식에 대한 전문적 이해가 부족하다고 생각하고 있었으며, 과학교과 전담 교사가 있을 경우 협업의 어려움을 꼽았다. 전체적으로 과학체험학습의 교육적 효과보다 예산이나 장소, 행정적 편의성 등을 먼저 고려하는 경향이 있었다. 본 연구는 기존의 연구들에서 확인하기 어려운 체험학습 주제 선정과 방법, 교육적 기대효과, 고민사항을 확인한 연구로서 의미가 있다.

과학체험학습에 관한 선행연구 및 경기도 지역 초등학교 운영실태 분석을 통한 다양한 과학체험학습장의 활용방안 모색 (Classification of Place for Experiential Learning through Analysis of Previous Study and Actual Status of Elementary Schools in Gyeonggi-do about Science Experience Learning)

  • In order to organize various places for science experience study, this study gathered and analyzed prior research on science experience study and various science experience perated in school. To that end, a total of 162 relevant prior studies of literature published from 2000 to 2016 were collected and 2,201 cases of science experience study conducted in 2015 were collected and analyzed. The place where the science experiential learning was done is divided into three areas of natural ecology, cultural history, facility experiential learning study, and the characteristics of participating subjects are examined. In terms of the number of articles published in the field of science-related experiential learning areas, 83 ecological experience study sites (51.2%), facilities institution experience study sites 56 (34.6%), and cultural history experience study books 23 (14.2%). Through this study, it was found out that research tendency to analyze science - related attitudes became prominent by setting study subjects using natural objects around and learning to play while playing and playing in nature. There was also an analysis by subjects of participation in science related experience learning centers. Cultural history experiential learning field was significantly lower than previous studies. In the lower grades, nature ecological experience learning was mainly performed. Combining the above findings, it can provide implications for the development of science-related experience activities. First, it is necessary to develop a technology-related experience learning center using local community resources. Second, it is necessary to expand the culture and history experience learning center related to science. Third, we need an education support center to support the expansion and operation of such a technology-related cultural history learning center.

ARD기반의 ICT체험 교육콘텐츠 효용성 개선 및 활성화 구현 (Achieving the improvement of efficiency and vitalization of ARD-based ICT experiential education contents)

  • Use of technology through utilization of ICT (Information Communication Technology) in field study area is rapidly increasing. Thus, when applying ICT to experiential education, apart from experiential education contents in simple form, the demand for new high quality contents is increasing considering change in education paradigm focusing on creativity. As a result, high quality interactive experiential education content for developing self-directed future talents is required. As a result of this, the development of ARD-based ICT experiential education content system that enhances learning effect of students by integrating ARD-based (Augmented Reality Display) ICT and experiential education to promote existence and immersion is being tested. This paper aims to improve efficacy and achieve vitalization through case analysis of AR-based ICT experiential education content. As a result of case analysis, the composition of content for improving education content included 1) constant securing and strengthening of experiential education content, 2) necessity for development of participating education content by diverse age groups, 3) development of differentiated ICT experiential education content, and 4) securing professional manpower and development of content in connection with education process. Therefore, with the efficacy of ARD-based ICT experiential education content, this study can first, enhance bond between students, second, enable self-directed learning, third, increase practical understanding in contents that were difficult to control by textbook contents, and fourth, increase interest and immersion in learning. Therefore, the contents on new converging technology that can maximize the development of constant content and cooperation between ICT technology and pedagogy for educating creativity and autonomy of ICT experiential education content.

과학박물관 탐방활동에서 나타난 초등 과학 영재 학생들의 관찰 유형 분석 (Patterns of Observation Type of Elementary Science-gifted Students in Visit Activities of the Science Museum)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 초등 과학 영재 학생들을 대상으로 과학박물관 탐방학습을 실시하여 관찰의 유형을 분류하고 이를 분석하였다. 이를 위해 과학 영재 학생 10명을 선정하여 탐방학습이 진행되는 동안 일어나는 관찰을 언어로 표현하도록 하여 모든 관찰 내용과 대화를 녹음하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 인지적 측면에서는 응답의 빈도가 높았고 자신의 의견을 배제하고 전시물과 관련하여 질문하고 응답하는 빈도가 높았으며, 정의적 측면에서는 권유의 빈도수가 가장 많았다. 관찰의 유형을 분류하고 이를 분석한 결과에서는 단수의 관찰 대상 전체를 시간 독립적으로 관찰하는 빈도가 높고, 시각을 사용하여 조작을 하지 않고 정성적인 방법으로 관찰하는 빈도가 높았다. 따라서 질문을 통한 언어적 상호작용은 관찰의 빈도와 다양성에 긍정적인 영향을 주며, 과학박물관 탐방학습에서 과학 영재 학생들의 다양한 관찰을 유도하기 위해서는 프로젝트 학습과 같은 특정 전시관이나 전시물을 학생이 직접 선택하여 집중 탐구할 수 있는 시간이나 학습지를 마련하면 더 효과적인 관찰 학습이 이루어질 수 있을 것으로 보인다.

창의적 체험활동을 위한 환경동아리 프로그램 개발 및 적용 효과 (Effects of Development Environmental Club Programs for Creative Experiential Learning Activity)

  • This study investigates the effect of environmental club activities of the creative experiential learning activities on the improvement of students' Environmental Literacy and Pro-environmental Behavior. For that purpose, This study divided 24 students at Jinhae U Elementary School into test groups of 12 students and Control groups of 12 students. Test groups participated in the 'GomGomi' environmental Club for sixteen times from March 2011 to December 2011. Conclusions of this study include; First, we found that the environmental club activities is effective to improve the students' environmental Literacy overall. Specifically, the Environmental Club Activities was effective in the sub-catagories of environmental Literacy such as 'rights of nature' and 'eco-crisis'. However, there was no significant change in the sub-category of 'human exemptionalism' Second, we found that the environmental club activities is effective to improve students' pro-environmental behavior overall. Specifically, the environmental club activities was effective in the sub-domains of Pro-environmental Behavior such as 'cognitive domain' and 'affective domain'. However, there was no significant change in the sub-domains of 'behavioral domain'. Summary, the environmental club activities was shown to be effective for improving their environmental literacy and pro-environmental behavior; This study implies that the environmental club activities of the creative experiential learning activities would be a effective tool to help students to improve their environmental literacy and pro-environmental behavior.

Constructionarium: Turning Theory Into Practice

  • Constructionarium Ltd is a not-for-profit organisation which delivers a residential, experiential, immersive learning opportunity to university students from across the built environment education sector. Since 2002, the Constructionarium education model has been available to students in engineering, construction management and architecture at a purpose built, 19-acre multi-disciplinary training facility in Bircham Newton, England simulating real site life and reflecting site processes, practices and health and safety requirements. The unique approach of Constructionarium puts experiential learning and sustainability at the heart of everything. In a week, students develop a practical understanding of the construction process, develop transferable skills, build a team and are exposed to the latest in sustainable technologies. Experiential learning is what differentiates a Constructionarium project from regular field trips or site visits. At Constructionarium the focus is on learning by participation rather than learning through theory or watching a demonstration. The projects cannot be replicated in a classroom or on campus. Using the hands-on construction of scaled down versions of iconic structures from around the world, students learn that it requires the involvement of the whole construction team to successfully complete their project. Skills such as communication, planning, budgeting, time management and decision making are woven into a week-long interrelationship with industry professionals, academic mentors and trades workers. Working together to enhance transferable skills brings the educational environment into the reality of completing an actual construction project handled by the students. Constructionarium has used this transformational learning model to educate thousands of students from all over the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia. Texas A&M University in the United States has sent multiple teams of students from its Department of Construction Science every operational year since 2016.

스포츠 체험 활동이 중학생의 "힘과 운동" 학습에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Sports Experiential Learning Activities on Junior High School Students' Learning about Force and Motion)

  • 본 연구에서는 스포츠 체험 활동을 포함한 수업과 전통적 수업간에 힘과 운동에 대한 개념 변화와 과학에 대한 흥미에서 어떤 차이를 보이는지 조사하였다. 특히 스포츠 체험 활동을 포함한 수업의 경우, 수업 전 스포츠 활동의 경험 정도에 따른 힘과 운동에 대한 개념 변화와 과학에 대한 흥미에서 어떤 차이를 보이는지 조사하였다. 남녀공학의 중학교 1학년 2개 학급 82명(실험집단 40명, 통제집단 42명)을 연구 대상으로 하였다. 힘과 운동 단원 수업에서 실험집단은 총 4차시 분량의 예측, 활동, 토론으로 구성된 스포츠 체험 활동을 포함한 수업을 하였으며, 통제집단은 같은 차시의 전통적 수업을 하였다. 실험집단과 통제집단의 힘과 운동에 대한 개념을 조사한 결과, 객관식의 경우 정답을 표시한 학생의 비율이 통제집단은 17.2% 증가하였으며, 실험집단은 20.0% 증가하였다. 주관식의 경우 올바른 개념을 가지고 설명한 학생의 비율이 통제집단의 경우 10.4% 증가한 반면, 실험집단은 26.7% 증가하였다. 과학에 대한 흥미에서는 주제 차원에서 통제집단이 유의미한 증가를 보였다(p<0.05). 활동 차원의 세부 범주인 경험적 학습활동과 의사소통적 학습활동에서는 실험집단이 유의미한 증가를 보였다(p<0.05). 스포츠 체험 활동을 포함한 수업 전후, 수업 전 스포츠 활동의 경험 정도에 따른 힘과 운동에 대한 개념 변화와 과학에 대한 흥미 변화를 조사한 결과, 스포츠 활동의 경험이 많은 학생들이 경험이 적거나 없는 학생들에 비해 보다 긍정적인 변화롤 보였다.

서비스 러닝: 환경문제를 다루기 위한 과학교육의 새로운 접근 (Service Learning: A New Approach in Science Education to Address Environmental Challenges)

  • 서비스 러닝(service learning)은 최근 환경문제를 동반한 기후변화에 대처하기 위한 새로운 교육적 접근으로 새롭게 주목받고 있다. 그러나 국내 과학교육에서는 서비스 러닝에 대한 연구들이 부족하다. 이 연구에서는 기존의 관련 문헌들을 바탕으로 서비스 러닝에 대한 이론적 배경을 소개하고, 환경문제에 대한 과학교육의 새로운 접근 방법으로서 국내 과학교육 환경에서도 적용될 수 있는 개념적 틀을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 서비스 러닝과 관련하여 국내외 데이터베이스 검색을 통해 수집된 112편의 문헌들을 연구 대상으로 하여 분석하였다. 그 결과, Dewey의 경험학습에 뿌리를 둔 서비스 러닝의 이론적 배경을 소개하였고, 서비스 러닝을 학생들이 학습 내용과 관련된 구조화된 서비스 활동을 통해 지역사회가 필요로 하는 도움을 제공하고, 그와 동시에 학문적 이해의 깊이를 더하며, 나아가 사회 구성원으로서 공동체 의식과 책임감을 함양하는 형태의 경험학습으로 정의하였다. 또한 환경문제에 대응하기 위해 국내 과학교육 환경에 적용하기 위한 서비스 러닝의 개념적 틀을 제안하였다. 제안된 틀은 서비스 러닝의 구성원을 학교, 학생, 지역사회로 구분하고, 지식, 경험, 그리고 비판적 성찰(critical reflection)을 통한 학습을 그 핵심요소로 제시하고 있다. 기후변화, 생물 다양성, 대기오염, 산림황폐화 등을 포함한 다양한 환경문제를 다루기 위한 방안으로 우리나라 과학교육에서도 서비스 러닝을 적극적으로 활용할 필요가 있다. 따라서 제안된 서비스 러닝의 개념적 틀을 바탕으로 학교현장에서 지역사회 환경문제를 다루기 위해 다양한 형태로 적용하고 검증하는 연구들이 추가적으로 수행되어야 할 것이다.

환경 관련 체험학습이 초등학생의 환경소양과 과학적 태도에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of Experiential Learning Involving Co-activities on Elementary School Students' Environmental Literacy and Scientific Attitude)

  • The purpose on this study is to identify how effectively experiential learning involving eco-activities make changes in environmental literacy and scientific attitude of elementary students by categorizing those activities into 5 fields of "marine", "rivers", "ecosystem", "climate" and "recycling" and applying those scheme specifically to 5th graders in a elementary school. The conclusion of this study is following. Firstly, after scientific attitude are applied to subjects, a significant disparity was found between experiment group and control group throughout all parts of environmental literacy. In the cognitive category, each specialist concerning his or her own topic was invited to educate the students, and subsequently a positive impact was detected in the category of environmental issue knowledge. In behavioral category, having eco-activities made a significant disparity in all sub-categories of environmental function, active participation, saving activities, recycling activities and so forth. Secondly, experiential learning involving eco-activities made a significant disparity between the two groups in terms of Scientific Attitude, showing effectiveness in all sub-categories except curiosity.
